  1. Same here. NC is just a little bit out of the way. My has seen them. She lived in Alaska when she was little and her father was stationed there.
  2. Happy New Year to all of you. Hoping 2016 treats all here well. Bill my mother died several years ago. Fortunately she had her health up until the day she died at 82. But the 5 of us children were able to come together, split her possessions and sell the house. We managed to do this with minimal friction and parted ways happy. We manged to get all of that done in just a few months. Here is to hoping your sister can find some of that before the finality of closing it all out.
  3. Thats what mine was like about 90k ago.
  4. Good luck on the steering upgrade, look forward to seeing if the upgrade it improves the steering. I improved mine yesterday. I put a new track bar on. Nothing fancy just the same old Moog that lasted about 80k that I had on it before. not only could I move the ball stud with finger tip, the busing on the other end mashed up and coming out. We will see how long this on lasts. All I know is it steers beautiful again. It has been gone for the last 5k, popping and klunking around. I noticed the other week that when I was sitting still and turned the wheel a little that the body was moving side to side about 2 or 3 inches.
  5. I have a spare wiring harness. Maybe I can try and track down the splice after work tomorrow.
  6. Just guessing here, but I like the location of the air filter more forward in the engine bay. Maybe not enough to do it. But from the looks of the OP's engine bay he must like it. I also wonder if the OP knows that this got split off from the original thread??
  7. Did you disconnect the Ottomind from the APPS sensor? Mine connected to it also. Beings my ears are not what they used to be I cant hear what you are describing. Almost sounds mechanical from your description. Does not show up except under load.
  8. Any way to find out what they use? I would agree that they are using what they know will last at least past any warranty. Not trying to bad mouth them or anyone but I dont believe they are buying big money parts either with out charging more. Are you going to let us in on which ones you got at Rock Auto? That is the case with the Moog lifetime. Normal wear and tear is not covered, only material defects. Did not realize that when I bought them. Probably would have bought them any way with there rep at the time. No experience on NAPA quality for these parts All this reminds me of the headache I got when we discussed XRF ball joints a few months back. Heres to mine not being as bad as I thought and they last another 100k..
  9. Still standing on my porch in my shirt sleeves and shorts. Just wont quit raining. Several more days of this in the forecast.
  10. The ball joints in te 00-02 fit in the axle yokes and not the knuckle. They also don line up with each other. http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/98-5-02-non-powertrain/475650-interesting-info-about-00-02-ball-joints.html This explains better than I can. I am definitely not a front end expert. I can however take it all apart and put it back together. I seem to get different opinions of what constitutes worn out joints also. Some say no verical movement and some up to 1/4" vertical is OK. Most of what i have read agrees that any horizontal move is bad. So maybe mine are not as worn as I first thought.
  11. Maybe, but would have to see some folks getting that kind of mileage. The bad thing is by the time they do who says they might have changed the design. My oe went 200k but others have not. Even some of the spicer adds say it is the oe joint, but they have grease fittings and I dont remember my oe having grease fittings. i think maybe original manufacturer but not the exact part.
  12. It is pretty slick and I knew it was old, But 50+ never entered my mine. Design maybe, but condition wise it looks maybe 4 or 5 years old.
  13. I dont think Dynatrac even makes them for the 00-02. Even so at near $600 that is out of me league. If i knew for a fact they would last 150k+ I would think about.it. Thanks for the info Jag. I keep hearing about the more expensive ones but cant seem to find the. Rip Rook, you gotta love name.
  14. I just put a 3/4 on mine and it was a hair big. Most likely metric.
  15. I have seen the Spicer affordable grade but not the USA made. Do you happen to have a link to them? Also I was looking around at ball joints again today. It would appear that McQuay Norris, and Raybestos fell under the same brand a while back. I also heard some where a good while back that Moog had fallen under the Federal Mogul umbrella. Then I saw this and it would appear that they all are under the FM umbrella. http://americanmachinist.com/news/federal-mogul-takes-over-affinia-chassis-components How do you know what you are getting from anyone anymore. . i
  16. Jag, I know what you are saying. I am still trying to find a set of tires I can get 89k to 90k miles out of. . i
  17. my oe's were sealed and lasted 200k+ miles. wish i could find some more of those. Installing them is a pretty involved job, but picking which ones to use sucks.
  18. That would explain it.
  19. Do those work in a 2000? they actually show another for the 00-02http://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/p2077_dana_spicer_708047_ball_joint_set_for_2000_to_2002_dodge_ram.html I see a 2000 in your sig. Were the for another truck?
  20. I did both of mine and anything else that looked out of place while i was in there.
  21. I was thinking about using Spicer on mine but having second thoughts now. I put Moog on mine about 90k ago and the right side is getting some play along with the track bar being shot. Probably why i am having some death wobble.
  22. I believe the dog knows which side of the bread the butter is on. I also notice out of all those guys that are cutting up the trees that a few of them are scanning the trees. Looks like more those trees want to join their buddies on the ground.
