From 24 valve to 12 valve
Disconnecting the alternator should stop the tranny from hunting for od and lockup IIRC. I am not a auto man myself. But have seen this suggested to help find a cure. Stray ac voltage will cause the above problem. It would not, I believe have anything to do with the sift points you are describing.

Mopar73 Full Eclipse Meet and Greet Camp Trip Aug 18th Thru the 21st 2017
Well i completely missed that one. I guess that means I have plenty of time to save up for this trip. Thanks Bill. I experienced a full eclipse in Georgia about 33 or 34 years ago. We did not have any way of looking at the moon passing in front of the sun. Watched all of that on TV. All I can say is what saw around was pretty amazing. The light and shadows cast were very strange. It was all very surreal. I can see why ancient mankind made a very big deal out of the experience. I dont even know how to describe to this day.

Higher amp alternator recomendations ?
Sure looks the same to me. Again the keyword was "assume". Not always the best thing to do.

Higher amp alternator recomendations ?
I went back and checked Mechman's site and it states they have a smaller 1.75" pulley and require a shorter belt. The nations site says states they a custom pulley to allow for more amps at idle but the stock belt can be used. I assumed that meant theirs was smaller also. Assumed being the key word.

Mopar73 Full Eclipse Meet and Greet Camp Trip Aug 18th Thru the 21st 2017
You are making it hard to say no. Your offer is quite generous and is going to be hard to refuse. Kind of depends one where I am at the time. you going to have a belt sander there? I might need a pedicure. As far as the galley birth, doe that many times on the BIL sail boat with the wife. My calendars all say the 21st is on Sunday. Dates mixed up maybe?

It's only 2363 miles from my house. A month of with pay and I might could be there.

Higher amp alternator recomendations ?
I believe the Nations and the Mechman have smaller pulleys on the alternator hence the possible need for a shorter belt. It does seem that some folks have just used the oe belt size and dont seem to have any problems from wht I have read anyway.

Having Line X Applied to Hood
Looking forward to that picture. How hard is it to get that stuff off if you ever need to?

Having Line X Applied to Hood
The first time is always the best, well for the most part anyway.

transmission tail seal
I used a seal puller/removal tool from Harbor freight. I think was about 5 or 6 bucks. Works good and inexpensive. I did have a big socket to drive it in with.

Having Line X Applied to Hood
This is why I chose the wrap route. I got he roll of vinyl for cost $250 and the installer is my son and he owes me $$$. The install labor is already paid for. All I need to do is the prep work.

transmission tail seal
I changed mine out a few years ago and it was not hard to do. But for the life of me I dont remember how. I am sure i would have gotten the info from the FSM. It is available for down load here on the site.

Having Line X Applied to Hood
That does sound a bit extreme. The possibility of problems does exist especially on horizontal surfaces. As far a waxing goes, the clears is near 50% gone on the hood and the roof. A while back I tried sanding the roof and applied a new clear coat out of a rattle can. The results were poor. Looked good at first and then I guess the old clear coat kept failing and it now looks pretty crappy. Most folks dont see it though and I figured it was worth a shot. Left my camera at the job or I would post a photo.

Lift Pump/ Fuel Supply Question
The forgetery seems to be a normal part of the aging process. I am getting used to it.

Having Line X Applied to Hood
Mine needs paint also. I am going to wrap for now until I have money for paint. I hope the vinyl does not prove to difficult to remove after the sun bakes on it.

Lift Pump/ Fuel Supply Question
No anger here. Just telling you the same thing I have been told before. Take a day for yourself and forget about all the crap and clear you head if you need it. I do it on the golf course as often as I can. For me that is 4 or 5 hours that I just forget about everything but the game. Helps me clear my mind. I sometimes get so wrapped up in a job that runs my life and the break is nice. I went back a re read the above and I guess it came across a little strong. I apologize for that. Please keep posting here or anywhere. I meant no disrespect. And by all means, be careful with the belt sander.

My Next Job

Lift Pump/ Fuel Supply Question
you need one more thing to do. Mike might be right. Take the F'ing day off and forget about the truck, job, or what ever. Get a 12 pack and polish your toe nails with a belt sander. That will take your mind off some crap.

My Love affair with BMW
I just want to know what nose art you picked for it. I have some old B&W photos my dad took while in the PTO when he was over seas back in 45. I can post them if you like and give you some more ideas.

Curious if anyone has an old damaged ECM laying around.
Asheville huh. That does make us neighbors. Maybe we can roll up on one another one day. When my oe went It threw DTC's like candy on Halloween. High and low volt codes on almost every sensor. Just went whacky. The one code it did not throw was one for the ECM. I just did not know enough to condemn a near $2k part. I finally did and bit the bullet and bought the rebuild. put it on and it did not work. I was pissed to say the least. Then i checked the codes and low and behold with all the others I had the failed ECM code, p606 I believe. So after the month and a half it took me to buy it I had to send it back and waited almost 6 weeks to get it back. Put that one on and it worked, except the cruise light stayed on and would not work. I just put on the road and drove it. I could not afford any more down time. Anyway it died a year later and I bit the bullet and put one from cummins on it for $1400. I hate to think what trying to save a few hundred bucks really cost me on the internet rebuild. Several thousand i would say. Got a pretty good education out of it though. Send me you address and I'll send it to you. PM me if you like. Time to turn the page on that thing.

Lift Pump/ Fuel Supply Question
If I have to pick up the wife and she is an hour late, no codes will be set. Suffering in silence>
