  1. Mike's old software for the forum had a Thanks button instead of the Like This button. It is still taken as the same thing as far as I am concerned. Good luck. Do you travel for your job or are you in the military?
  2. I was not meant to be a link. The FSM is in the down loads section. I guess I should have been a little more specific. My apologies. It can also be found a pdftown.com http://pdftown.com/ that should be the link.
  3. You can down load a factory service manual,FSM, right here. It will cover anything you have to do and all of us are here to help. I came here 3.5 years ago and had never touched the diesel except for maintenance. But since then I have torn into things i never touched before with the help of all here. The only dumb question is the one you dont ask. Fact is, we would have as much fun as you, except we dont get to keep the truck.
  4. 15w-40 rotella since mine was new, year round. I dont see the cold temps alot of you fellas see.
  5. I guess by now you have figured out most of us would keep it. I wish you the best of luck, but you can do most of this your self, especially if you have a daily driver.
  6. Thank God for hot dogs!!!!!
  7. I would have to agree with diesel4life on that. A 95 with 50k miles in that condition is quite the find. Probably would not take much to have it up and running again. I have seen alot low mileage trucks like that sell for a pretty penny. Me, I would have to keep it.
  8. If you just change the nozzles you will have to disassemble the injectors yourself. Though I have never don that, Mike has a good article on cleaning your injectors which cover the dis assembly process and would not be afraid to do it. To get them to work properly you have to have them pop tested somewhere to be sure they all pop properly. For my money just by the whole injector from a reputable source that pop tests and flow matches them and be done with it. There are others here more knowledgeable than I than can add to this.
  9. Good to hear it is all working out for you. Mine is grabby on launch also. I have gotten used to it but still not fond of it.
  10. You nailed it. I was in a hurry.
  11. but not at your pain. I can get a clear picture in my mind of said incident. I tried jerking it out of gear. That dont work either. She was locked in like concrete. Had to use the key. Being just a few months your junior, the cobwebs on the mind get a little harder to knock off occasionally
  12. Chalk up one for the younger generation. followed my dad on vacation thru the mountains when I was 16. Needless to sya he was better at it than me. He left me behind more than once. I do believe he enjoyed that.
  13. Before safety switches thats how you pretty much had to do it or at least make sure it is in neutral. When I get in I usually push the clutch in and check for neutral. Just reached in the door this time and hit the switch, me no thinky. Still
  14. A man can never have too many straps! We moved from Atlanta GA to Hickory NC many years back in a big U-haul. I got elected to take the cat. 10 miles into the trip he is laying on his back on the seat with his mouth open and his tongue hanging out. I thought he was dead. Stayed that way for 6 hours until I pulled up to the new house. I opened the truck door and he jumped up and out of the truck. Never did figure that out.
  15. Here's the rub. Been having some hard slow starting issues that I traced to my battery terminal connections. So last Thursday I picked up what I needed to redo them. Cleaned them up real good, put new bolts in them and just did a bang up job. Now she hits off like new. Hit the switch and it fires in 1/4 second. Guess need mine done now.
  16. That had the makings of a disaster. Glad everything came out alright and all are ok. That black ice is something. You never know it there until you're on it. When my wife and I traveled together she always tailgated so close I could never see her. I dont know how or why anyone wants to tailgate any trailer and look at it that close for hours. We were traveling once and a dump truck passed me going 80+, next thing I knew my wife was getting pulled over. I pulled over up ahead of them. The cop was going to give her a ticket for following to close until he saw we were together. He passed up the dump truck for her since she was so close. I still cant believe he did NOT write her a ticket.
  17. Never knew emoticans could say so much. Could I have another please. Tom, I thought about in that split second. I am still but mostly for being a . The jury is still out..
  18. Yes and no. It holds higher and steadier now that the Banks module is off. I t has slowly climbed over the months to hold around 180 or 181 +or minus a couple degrees. Thats by the dash and the scan gauge. The mechanical under the hood says 190*. Bare in mind I only see that one when I stop and open the hood. Towing I see about 5* higher with the same little swing. I think I might re install the Banks one day just see what happens. I would rather install a Comp instead. Here is what part of the last job looked like. My apologies to the OP for taking this off topic.
  19. I think I would talk to the shop that installed it and whoever you bought it from and get their opinions before you stomp all the power thru it. The way I read your post i thought you were on it hard since it did not do it when accelerating slowly.
  20. clutch sipping, chattering, especially if you are into hard in the higher gears? I believe we have the same clutch( Valair with organic facings) and I never notice mine do that. It does however chatter on launch.
  21. Unloaded a truck load of trusses this morning. Windy and just under 40*. Didn't have any gloves on so the hands got cold. So when I was done I went over to the truck reached in and hit the switch, forgetting it was in gear , reverse to be specific. As soon as I hit the switch it was obvious the truck was in reverse and the split second it took to notice this, the engine caught. The truck went backwards about 1 foot and the hitch hit the dumpster, about 4k#'s, pushed it about 7 or 8 feet until the rear went off the pavement and caught in the dirt. Now I remember a post here a while back where someone said you take one of these trucks and put the bumper against a wall and let the clutch out and the wheels would just spin. I really did not believe that until today. Before I could get the clutch in the truck was sitting still on the pavement with the rear spinning. Anyway all is well, nothing is hurt and every one standing around is still having a day. Except me, I fell like a quadruple . Now before you say it, I had a reason about 6 or 7 years ago to be messing with said clutch safety switch and just took it out. I can't remember the last time something like this happened with any truck I have owned. But for a split second,I was wondering why I took it out.
  22. Wish I could say the same here in Alabama. 40 and rainy. Had to unload a couple of trucks today, fortunately it was NOT raining during that. Of course some one is gong to came along and call me wuss since it s -5* for a high somewhere. Happy you got fixed.
  23. Dealt with an ADS rep on the Stormtech install in Morganton NC. Most likely to see more of it as people get more concerned with storm water run off.
  24. I have had my AD for over 3 years with no problems, but if I had to replace every other week or month, it would come out completely even if AD replaced it for free every time. No time for that kind of aggravation.
  25. Take it out and pressure wash it. t is easy to remove and the best way I know to clean it good.
