  1. The majority of retailers do not build their own pumps, including Blue Chip. Here is a list of rebuilders that we know of.http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/25-fuel-system/247-bosch-certified-vp44-injection-pump-rebuilders
  2. Have you checked for DTC's? Might help point in the right directon.
  3. Same here. Adjusted mine once right after install. No leaky quick connectors either. My pump also was produced before AD sold out.
  4. I installed an ADII bout 3.5 years ago. Dodge installed my in tank about 7 years ago. When I started having trouble I installed a booster pump on the frame rail in front of the tank. So I was pulling fuel thru the in tank pump. It worked fine for a long time. I just kept worrying that one of them would go and I would loose all fuel press. Did not know much about them back then.
  5. I was not aware of the not being able to use a pressure test on the in tank pump. I do know that after I added a booster pump to the fuel system and got the pressure up, the issues I was having, dead pedal and bucking, went away.
  6. No speeding tickets were issued however.
  7. #1. I am not sure which article you were reading, but keeping the pressure between 14 and 20 is safe level to run. This insures adequate fuel for cooling and lubricating the VP. the 1688 code is for the computer, FPCM, on the VP. Maintaining the pressure above 14 will keep the most fuel circulating thru the VP. I personally run mine at 19 at Idle and it drops to near 16 at WOT. A fuel pressure gauge is recommended to monitor the pressure so you know when there is a problem. Low pressure puts a lot of wear on the VP. #2. Your pump will run when cranking. The ECM will cycle it on and off during cranking reducing the pressure by about 50%. After cranking the lift pump will run constantly. #3. The 1688 code is for failure of the FPCM on the VP. You might clear the codes, clean up the connector on the pump, and try starting it again, If the code comes back or it wont run the VP is shot. And yes a pump can fail at any time. The in tank pump is the likely culprit. My guess would be under WOT your pressure is near 0. I had one in mine and had trouble with it less than 6 months later. They are no better than the OE pump on the engine. As stated before, you really need a fuel pressure gauge.
  8. No experience with it my self, but it is a $700 pump with the filters. I paid 635 for the ADII so i guess it is not unreasonable for a good system. I did have a BD diesel booster pump with the in tank pump on mine for several years and it always did the job. When I replaced it I was surprised to see it was a carter. Dont know what model, but still have it and have thought about reinstalling as a back up. It was still working fine when I took it off. I did not know much about the importance of the ilft pump system when I installed it. Caught an article about this in Diesel Power magazine on the subject not long after install. All this long before I found this forum.
  9. Is Beaufort(bo fort if I am correct) stew anything like Brunswick stew. I love shrimp and I love grits, I just have never gotten my taste buds around both together. I am pretty much by myself on that one though, most everyone I know loves em.
  10. Your only puts out that much heat because your truck your brain might freeze. All kidding aside, mine is not that hot, not sure why. I only see about 140 on mine. Still enough to keep me very warm. Much much better than before the change.
  11. Beautiful truck. Welcome to the farm. Been a while since I have been down your way for a good low country boil.
  12. I have run the ADII for 3.5 years with no problems at all. I had to reset the pressure once not long after install and thats it. It cost me $635 with a kit to replace my in tank pump. This was before AD sold out and from what i read that is when all of there problems started. Not sure I would put another one in unless they got all of their problems behind them. If that one is an older one you would probably be ok except no warranty.
  13. Is it scratched into the blade or just on the blade. Possibly ingested something.
  14. The Bosch RV275's are new from top to bottom and the 60 75 hp have used bodies with new nozzles. At least this is my understanding and if I am wrong someone please correct me.
  15. Per the Fass instructions(same for AD)you can wire straight to the battery for power and use the OE lift pump connection for a trigger on the relay. That way it comes on with the switch and is controlled by the ECM. You can also wire the power from the alternator if you cont want the connections on the battery. That comes from the AD instructions, but I did not see it on the Fass. When It is wired the above way you will get a short prime when the key is turned on and when you bump the starter(no engine start)you should get near a 25 second run of the lift pump. The Fass should have come with a wiring harness to do this.
  16. I was talking to Mike a little while ago and he confirmed what you are saying as far as the cable. I have never had to mess with one in a second gen.
  17. I like your bumper. It looks good in its simplicity.
  18. Alright girl, I am 6'4" and still keep a couple lengths of 6X6 to stand on when necessary. Your are making me jealous here.
  19. I am running RV275's and towing a 15k 5th wheel and they do very nice on there own. Had a Banks ottomind tuner(75HP) but it went south on me. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they did on there own. You would not be dissapointed with them. Of course you probably would not be dissapointed with the 75hp either.
  20. Something to consider when feeling the heater hoses is if the temp going in is 190* and the heater pulls 20* from the coolant the output is 170*. It is a little hard to feel the difference with your hand because either is so hot. Before repairing mine I had warm air with the temp control on high and anything less than that it was cold. My core was leaking slightly and when I remove it, it was plugged externally with trash. The all hot or cold is usually a blend door problem from what I know, but I am not familiar with a cable operated one. Mine has a DC motor for the blend door and the fitting between the two had broken and the door was improperly indexed. The AC worked fine but the heater did not. Is it possible the cable has slipped?
  21. Welcome to the family. I might look around some more especially since you could not drive or hear the engine run. I have a Blue Chip pump my self. Not the one you are looking at however. The only thing I dont like about that one is it has a rebuilt computer. It does seem to say it is rebuilt by Bosch, but I just dont know about the rebuilt. I have had mine for 85K with no issues and it came with a new computer, thats the main reason I bought it. At the time it was the only one I could find with a new computer. On that same thought there are many others that have good mileage on their non Blue chip pumps. DAP and others do sell them with new computers at better pricing. I do like the idea of 20 more HP and 10% better mileage but I am a little skeptical of the gains. In the end you get to make that decision for your self. Either way you go you will find alot of help here just as I have. It is an ongoing education for me.
  22. If you get shot it wont be from my gun. One thing our forefathers and their forefathers came here for was to escape religious persecution. All across Europe a man or woman could be subjected to horrible punishments just for offending the church. The 1st amendment says Congress shall pass no law respecting the establishment of a religion. I always felt this was to be sure that church did not wield the power they held over all in Europe and would allow all to worship as they please without fear of being persecuted or worse at the hands of the church. This to me is the separation of church and state. I do not see anything wrong with prayer in school, congress or any other government function. The country thrived on it since its inception. That being said and with the religious freedom we have here, that should open the doors to other religious prayers at the same functions. How to handle that is well beyond me. Where I come from, Episcopalians, Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, Catholics, and many more interpret the bible differently. Who is right? That is a question one has to answer for himself and to his God. History is full of wars fought by both sides in the name of God. Many of Nazi Germany's belt buckles were inscribed with "God is with us" below an eagle carrying a swastika. I have oft wondered if God has a book of names of all the souls sent to Him by others in His name. The size of such a list would be staggering and it keeps growing daily.
  23. I take it your heater core is leaking?
