  2. welcome. I would have to agree on the foot switchand the gauges. dont know much about the lift pump othe thatn you d probably need one to protect your investment. again welcome the nut house.
  3. I need to mow my onions.
  4. you might take your old vp and throw it in a land fill. never minnd the $500 core charge.
  5. Did you put new sealing washers on the return bolt on the back of the head. Did mine a week ago and at first I thought there were just flat washers on it. when I looked at them real close I could see they were sealling washer but the rubber was hard and it just felt like a flat washer.
  6. Welcome. Hope you make home soon.
  7. Mike gets a little touchy about vp's. I dont blame him after seeing exactly what he is seeing and people bad mouthing the IP. I think for just normal everyday driving and calculating mpg on a tank your fuel temp would have to go to an extreme to make much differance. Now if you are counting every .10 or .20 over the life of the vehicle it could add up to a nice chunk of change. But unless you are putting tha money back to cash in on it after 10, or even 20 years it is not going to make much differance in your pocket. Just my humble opinion.
  8. :pant:I think this is what she said I looked like.
  9. Taking the injectors out was fairly easy. i put a 2X2 on top of the bolt heads along the the side of the head, screwed a bolt into the injector and used a piece of copper pipe to catch the bolt and gently popped them out. I just took my time when i did it. The first time can be a little testy for anything.
  10. It was fun to watch, but i could not touch ISX or MM on time. It took me about 5 or 6 hours to install my rv's. while at home a week a go ihad to take it all back apart to fix my leaks and spent about 6 hours doing that. I did spend a lot of time cleaning the injuector lines(the source of my leaks). I might could cut the time down some with practice, just hope I dont have to practice that often.
  11. works for me.
  12. I just installed a set of RV's in mine and picked up a nice power increase. I had some fuel leaks from the head and the rear banjo bolt cummins spoke of. even with the leaks i pickup abotu1.4 mpg. Just got all the leaks fixed and dont yet know what true mpg I picked up, but it can only get better. This was the first time I had ever seen an injector, but the install is very straight forward and simple to do. Just follow whatMr. Cummins said and you will be happy you put them in.
  13. I have been wondering how your search was going. Not to good it seems. Have you talked to an auto upolsterer, I know they can do the foam and fabric. I just dont have a clue as to how pricey it is.
  14. As I remember ion the past we "usually" did this on Tuesdays and Thursdays. One earlier than the other for the benefit of everyone being scattered across all the time zones.
  15. Mine had been leaking for 4 or 5 weeks and getting worse. I was leaving a diesel gift every where I parked. One thing i forgot to mention, when I redid every thing I found the bolts holding the injectors down to be not very tight. So I tihgtened them up a little better. No differance in the how it runs but it aint leaking. That could have been part of my problem.
  16. I thought there was a small amout of fuel that always went past that ball even if you have low pressure. I thinkd Mike had avideo here somewher that showe that. Not sure though.
  17. Glad to hear it. I think you will be happy with. Mine has worked flawlessly since install.
  18. 48 hours with out any leakage. Still watching.
  19. sounds like a fuel leak maybe at the return tee or return line off the back of the head. The tee you can see looking over the fuel canister towards the rear of the engine. The banjo on the back of the head you cant see, but you can reach around the head and feel it and tell if it is leaking.
  20. Shoot, you'll make 100k in five more years. Then your truck will be like one of those garage queens and you cna get $20k for it.
  21. I am a little late with this, but is your lift pump connected thru the ecm? As long as the ecm is working right and you are wired thru it, the pressure is lowered during starting to avoid a high pressure starting issue.I am happy that DAP is helping you woork thru it.
  22. I think that is why they call it a chat room.
  23. I started as a sponge and still am on alot of things. Just come by and listen, add to the discussions, ask questions, or what ever floats your boat. I live in the EST zone but am working in the CST. Alot of the folks here live alot further west than most of us, so I figure CST might be a little easier. I will be there and anyone who wishes to participate just needs to show up. I hope this is agreeable with my 2 other cohorts. I think we ought to just have one and see what happens.
  24. How about chat room on tuesday 1-31-12 at 8 CST and I will be there. Any body ready for it?
