  1. i like it. snipers nest in the kitchen. more tea please and pass the ammo.
  2. i'd like to see it with a manny myself. my shifter is pretty close the the center console.
  3. no it is not. i had just kicked in and i was pulling a 6% or 7% grade foot to the floor running as hard as i could. only stayed there for 20 or 30 seconds and came right back down to 190 or 195. with all the crazy temp swings i have been seeing(mostly low) it was exxiting. since the trip the tstat has been workin fairly normal. no more 150 to 165. its now holding 180 to 190. question is for how long. maybe working it that hard over the mountain did something to it.hard to miss the turbo prop when comes on no matter how hard your are pushing it.
  4. that will make a differance. finnaly saw north of 210* on my gauge for the first time in along time hauling my rv over the blue ridge. just cant haul the rv to work every morning.
  5. something is toasted, but it is over my head.
  6. i just adjusted my valves with the same experiance with the cowl insulation. i stuck a plastic bag up there and it helped some. kept getting in the way though. i guess they dropped the hood insulation in 02 because i have none.
  7. ill say it is.:lmao2:how many trees must die to build the table. gonna need a couple a good cummins to haul the dinnette set around.:lmao:i believe yours is a little bigger than mine. i"m 6-4 and my feet are hangin a little. whats the chance of 2 people having that picture. i be laughing all day tomorrow.:lmao2:
  8. mine is not strapped to anything and seems to be doing fine. i would like to do something alittle differant down the road however. just not sure what.
  9. mine is a bhaf from vulcan performance. just measured it at 10 1/2" long and 10 1/2" in diameter. i do have an outer cover but not sure i really needed it. i think it cost about $30 as i remember. the filter was $80 or $90. if i get 100k+ out of it it want be a bad deal. but i do like the price you paid.
  10. now that you mention it does look samller in diameter but about the same length.
  11. nice install RJ. i do like the braket idea.
  12. i ran mine for 8 years with out one so i know what you mean. but now that i have one i cant believe i waited so long to install one. possibly the best mod i have.
  13. did not sart it that way, but sure felt like that when realized what was happenig. laughter is a great medecine even if you are laughing at yourself.
  14. i noticed when the ground under the truck started moving.
  15. thanks guys. i believe the tensioner is a little weak. but i went back out ofter reading w&f's reply and looked at the dampner and dont really have anything with me to try that way. so i tried a couple other things trying to use the alternator bolt. weeelllllll i learned a valuable lesson. when trying to turn the alt bolt be sure to take the truck out of gear:doh:. it sure works alot better that way.:rolleyes:next year iget to sit with the big folksthanks againyour humble screw updave
  16. tried to adjust my valves today and could not turn the engine using the altenator bolt. i turned it both ways and it slipped either way. i clouldnt figure out a way to put more tension on it with the tools at hand and dont own a barring tool. any of yall ever done it a differant way?
  17. just took mine out over the blue ridge montains for nc to south of nashvelle tn. the first trip i have made in the mountains since i installed mine. i never had to touch the brakes once and kept the speed where ever i wanted it. i cannot imagine ver driving with out one again. possibly the best mod i have made.
  18. can yall use an ehaust brake on your autos?
  19. you gottta be driving my truck. mine acts the same way, except for the last week. the cap i put on mine is a 16# and it worked for a while then went right back to being all over the place.
  20. i dont know what has got my tstat but it is still working fairly well. since the trip over the blue ridge towing it seems to be holding around 183 and 188. maybe because it got worked hard on the last trip. might be some truth in working it.
  21. in other words no harm no foul. you just disconnct and reset and go.
  22. its when you dont disconnect the batteries and start shorting things that those computers can get hurt. once you do it you will see how simple it is and if you do other things later you will not to worry about it. there have been times i have disconnected mine and forgot to reset the apps. this too wil not hurt any thing, youmight get a code or she might not act right. if so just disconnect the negatives again let it sit for 30 minutes and do the reset. no harm will come to anything if you forget.
  23. :iagree:the only stupid question is the one you dont ask. i have plenty of experiance with that.
  24. i have had mine off countless times and the only thing you have to is reset your apps or tps whichever. connect the batteries, turn on the swicth, not the engine, depress the throttle slowly down, release it slowly, then turn the switch off. i dont have an auto, but would not think it makes a differance. i am sure someone will corect me if i am wrong on the auto.
  25. the 02 sounds like the way to go for me. but it is a used engine and there is always risk involved. i just put a used nv5600 in mine and i am keeping my fingers crossed on it. as long as the o2 was taken decent care of it should have alot of lifeleft in it. i dont know wether the ecm and pcm will communicate with each other without a reflash. we will need someone here that is better with the electronics. if the 99 has to be rebuilt do you know what is wrong with it?
