  1. I will start with getting stuck on the job for 5 weeks without going home. That in itself sucks. But to top that of the wife almost gets t boned by a car running a red light. The car was totaled. But is a 1998 Saturn 4 door and both air bags deployed so it does not take alot to total it. Impact was on the passanger side front corner and continued over the hood. My 90 year old MIL was riding shotgun and came thru ok, just bruised up and sore. The wife was not so fortunate. At 4'9" tall she sits right up on the wheel. I dont believe impact was her problem, it appears to me that the air bag did all the damage. She had her hand across the wheel and it slammed her arm into her face causing a hairline fracture to her thumb. This knocked her front dental loose so she cant bite any food right now. Her other hand got banged up so they are both swollen. It is just a blessing she did not get 5 or 6 feet further into the intersection or they would have been t boned and not sure the MIL would have survived that. I did finally make it home and all is as well as can be expected. I then return to work only to have the owner shut the job down. Had deal with closing everything up and haul excess materials of site and get back home Thursday night before easter. Easter Sunday we have a major storm blow thru and I was up most of the night. Stepped outside a few time see some lightning and hear thunder off in distance all pretty much no big deal. About 4am Monday morning I hear a boom, crack and see a flash of light all at the same time. Power immediately dies. Figure lighting has struck a transformer and we will have to wait on the power co. I go outside again and notice my trash can is gone. Found it in the neighbor's drainage ditch. Got it and put it back in front house and turn to towards the house. Thats when I notice I seem to have a tree growing between the 5th wheel and the house. Sure enough the neighbor's tree is now mine and laying both the house and the 5th wheel. The house is on the left and the 5th is in center. The bulk of tree is on the trailer anf the landing gear is 2" off of the ground. It crushed the roof about 15 geet or so from the rear and my insurance compay totaled it. Now I get to empty it and got sent off on another job. This is going to be fun. Anyway I had figured to get a little time of at home to catch up on other things but that sure went out the window. The house faired very well maybe 400 bucks in minor damage. 2. That pretty sucks on the wiring harness. I cant figure a relay harnes with no way to connect a control to it. I understand on the the electrical part things. No great with it myself. Had I not installec a couple of these before I would just be a reader and not a contributer. I would @dieselautopower and maybe tomfind out whats going on. The instructions lack a bit to be desired.
  3. Does the relay harness have 2, 2 pin connectors on it? I ask because in step 3 line F it states to connect the factory plug to the harness. That should the one from the ECM to the factory pump. Then connect the other plug to the FASS pump. The factory connector is what closes the relay to give power to the pump to run. It also allows the FASS pump to be under the control of the ECM. What kind of pump was on it before this install?
  4. Some of the instructions seems to be missing. The power they are telling you to connect to is powering the relay. I dont see anything showing what triggers the relay. Mine is wired very similar for power but the oe pigtail for the lift pump is plugged into the relay harness for the trigger. @jtrakel is their a 2 pin connector on the relay harness for that pigtail to plug into That step is missing from the instructions or I missed it.
  5. If you have the cash for it, that is the time to replace it.
  6. No sir , l could not tell you tht difference. I guess l would have to see them side by side. Mine was already discharged from a leak.
  7. I believe thats is a Con do minium.
  8. I agree. I drove mine for several hundred miles with a bad one. Just not much drive. It makes stock feel like a dragster.
  9. My last one had a steady diet of 2 stroke and or bio diesel.
  10. Changed it out at 217k. Turned out to be the ECM. Thus started my education on what makes these trucks tick. The next one lasted 272k though. So I really only have about 15k on this new one.
  11. Well it would be pita to go thru this and have it start leaking a couple months later. Where are you looking at prices on thr dash? I paid $300 for mine back when I did it.
  12. 75k replaced under warranty.
  13. Good job. I suffer from some of the same issues as you. When tackling an unfamiliar job, l do the same.
  14. I dont know the S10, but these trucks you will need to pull the dash loose to remove the hvac box to get to the heater core. It sounds more daunting than it is. We have an article on the process in the articles section. I would link it for you but me and this tablet do not get along for that. It would be a good idea to pull it so you can clean it out and also redo the foam gaskets. The outside air is not filtered so things can get in there and block it up. I did mine about 8 years ago with a core and ac evaporator from rock auto and they are still working fine.
  15. I am not the auto expert around for sure but if it is a stock tranny you will want to look into beefing it handle any extra power you want to throw at it. How much depends on how much power you have in mind.
  16. I had the same issue but a 27mm deep well that works. 3/4" drive l think.
  17. One other thing to consider. There very few companies that reman the pumps. It requires very specific and expensive equipment to do the work. 98% of the folks selling them do not reman them. They are just resellers.
  18. Are you past your warranty yet?
  19. I am leary of rock auto VP44's. Their prices have come down but you dont know the source of the pump. DAP has them for $1k with new computers on top. Built by Industrial injection. No one has new pumps, they dont make them any more. This the part l hope you allowed for. Live and learn. We all have in one way or another.
  20. Maybe not. My old man grew up with clutch. He was glad to get out of it. Of his 5 kids I was the only one to embrace it when l grew up. But l am afraid it is the dinasaur now.
  21. From your other posts a new VP would probably solve your problems. Hopefully your purchase price figured that in.
  22. The starter fluid starting it makes it sound like a fuel problem. But I cant explain why it starts fine on a cold start.
