Time for a clutch
I would leave the rear main alone if it's not leaking. Nothing is better than stock.

IF you need friction modifier, 10 oz of Ford friction modifier is what you want. It seems to act the best. None for the front as it is not a LSD.

Which billet tappet cover to buy?
Both have steel mesh in them for separation. The stock vent is higher up on the crank case so in theory it will do a better job of separating oil out purely because it's harder for oil to get up there. I like the 12v style because it is more of a direct path for the pressure to escape, but it is lower on the block. Ideal would be the venturi system in the exhaust.

I can't tell, as both of my breathers terminate in the same location. A vent is a vent, but I like the idea of having one on the side of the block. If you go to a 12v style tappet cover, you'll have to remove the stock lift pump bracket as it interferes. A BBC fuel pump block off plate will work to cover the hole, or I trimmed my bracket down to cover it.

With your current injectors and tuning, a 62/68/12 would be a good fit. I have seen that setup (with slightly different tuning) make 502/1214 on a dyno a 7000' elevation. Remember, boost isn't the only thing you want to see. You want to see air flow as well. With your 3.55's, a set of 245 tires will bring your final ratio to 3.69:1, which is better for more torque to the ground, but it will look goofy. the MADS tuning you're talking about is a Smarty. Your quadzilla will already do everything the smarty will plus more, but just in a different fashion. Trick to getting it to rip like you want is the smaller tires and bringing the fuel in harder and sooner with the quadzilla.

I also have two breathers, stock and a 12V style. It splits the pressure relief better, but both hoses of mine (routed to the same place on the frame) have oil residue there.

Well the Order is in
Finally! You could sell that front bumper to a sucker with a 2nd gen for probably the price of a monthly payment

Absolutely stock. It already does a fun thing where if you floor it at speed, it'll unlock, upshift to third, then wait a few seconds and bang shifts second. So that's cool. It's gonna blow up.

This time it’s just gonna destroy the torque converter. ?♀️

'The Boost Bus'
It happens. I'm lucky as the guy who I split this van with is friends with a couple 7.3 owners (he himself has one, so I'm the only Cummins guy around 4-5 7.3's ) and therefore we have access to plenty of secondhand parts. We probably are gonna mess with the HPOP since the turbo is out anyways, to get *just that much more* flow to the injectors. Maybe then it'll do a burnout!

D80 ring and pinion
I can tell you mine ended up costing around $1000 for parts and $100 to cheat and have a shop to replace the parts in carrier for me. I set the pinion and pattern. So $1100 for me to do just about everything myself. Pain in the ***. Meanwhile, I saw a D80 for sale in Nebraska for $450. If it wasn't an open diff I probably would've gone that route.

Might as well plan on a new bearing set. Timkin set from Rock Auto is about $200 too. Only stupid thing is the kit doesn't come with the shims. I got lucky and was able to use the factory stack and be fine. Is it a limited slip unit? If so, might as well plan on clutches.

Cause the turbine is reversed, the housings are reversed, everything is backwards. It turns counterclockwise instead of what we're used to.

Got the turbo off for inspection and prepared for a rebuild.... only to find someone has had their grubby mitts on it recently (no surprise). The good news is the turbo looks like it was recently rebuilt, and everything came apart easily. The bad news is they didn't replace it with the correct, 'more desirable' turbo. Stock OBS turbo has a 1.15 A/R exhaust housing. Stock van turbo had a 1.0 A/R housing. We found the 1.15 housing. Oh well. No idea on what went through the turbo. My guess is the PO was trying to fix it on the cheap and a shop goes "well, we got this used turbo laying around", not mentioning the wheel damage. Oh, and it's reverse rotation, and the oil feed is up from the bottom, so swapping to a S366 or some variant is more challenging.

I wish that was the case! Instead the guy said the "cam ignition sensor" was bad, so he towed it to a shop where they "had it running for over an hour" and then he parked it and never tried to drive it again.- Transmission upgrade

It's the second diesel vehicle I've purchased out of Boulder... My pickup came from the north side of town. This wonderful piece of engineering came from Pearl Street. i'm surprised it was allowed to be that close.- Well the Order is in

Bought it off a hippie in Boulder. Always for sale, for cheap! This is the first deal I've come across like this, and I didn't even find it.- 'The Boost Bus'
Obviously the most obnoxious hater pipe I can fit! You also might have heard 300/200's and a 467.7.....- 'The Boost Bus'
Needs an intercooler as well. But that'll be easy. Oh, and #firstmod is a Cummins sticker on the back window, to show how little we care. - 'The Boost Bus'
