The Cummins has software that you enable to have the 6 cylinder high idle or the 3 cylinder high idle. When the 6 cyl hi idle kicks in, the RPMs go up to 1200. When the 3 cyl hi idle kicks in, it sounds like the motor is tearing itself apart. It sounds horrible. With the 3 cyl hi idle, the VP-44 cuts fuel off from 3 cylinders causing increased resistance, therefore increasing temps.

I agree with ISX, however you can go up to 1250* for less than a minute. I have no experience with the cortex programmer.Where are you at in SoCo?

You have all these codes. LOOK HERE Looks like the PCM needs cleaning.

Since the truck is a '97, you might be able to pull the codes with a code reader. OBD II were placed in '96 and very rudimentary then.

Then there is something wrong in the mechanism of the parking brake. When you changed out the switch, you may have changed the depth of when it turns off.

Make sure that the pedal can travel up all the way. There may be something caught in the mechanism that is keeping the pedal from going all the way to the stop.

P2563 - Turbocharger boost control position sensor - range/performance.You need to check the sensor if possible and also do you have the waste gate altered? Check to make sure that the turbo is good working order. Check the wiring at all connections that you can see, one could be loose or corroded.
