  1. Great pics! Nice looking truck too by the way! Those pics remind me of the time I spent in Honduras. I was there for 2 years on separate short tours of duty while I was still wearing a tree suit for Uncle Sammy.
  2. My thoughts exactly.
  3. Have you tried troubleshooting the APPS yet? http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/apps/apps-codes.htm
  4. What I wanna know is.....how was that salmon? On the heat issue, unless you can conceal it very well and I mean to the point that NOBODY knows you are armed, it is a bad idea. I sympathize and agree with your point about how people are nowadays, but most Americans are hoplophobic and have a cell phone. A call to 911 will yield a poorly trained, trigger happy, authoritarian/ego disorder stricken, cop scream at you to get on the ground. NOT how you want your day to go.
  5. The firewall plug, I am not gonna be much more help other than you are going to have to rassle with it until you make it join up right. Sometimes a bit of silicone spray lube helps the rubber/plastic lip slide into place easier. Your fuel pressure is on the bad/weak side of marginal. On the wife's truck, I don't like to see ANYTHING below 14-15 psi. I replace the filter first and if the pressure does not improve, then the pump. I am running a Airtex pump on her truck. If I were you, I would replace that lift pump yesterday. A couple of other areas to look at on the steering that may help improve steering wonder is the track bar: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-4728-solid-steel-industries-non-adjustable-track-bar-94-02-59l-dodge-cummins-25003500.aspx http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-4727-solid-steel-industries-adjustable-track-bar-94-02-59l-dodge-cummins-25003500.aspx or you can go with this upgrade kit to the newer 2003 style track bar with rubber bushings: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-4731-solid-steel-industries-track-bar-conversion-kit-tbk-94-02-59l-dodge-cummins-25003500.aspx the steering shaft joints: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-5073-borgeson-steering-shaft-95-02-dodge-25003500.aspx and the DSS: http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/p-4729-solid-steel-industries-steering-stabilizer-dss-94-02-59l-dodge-cummins-25003500.aspx made a noticable improvement on my truck. What condition are the ball joints of truck in?
  6. Sounds like you may already have the boost fooler wire harness section installed along with a boost elbow or disabled waste gate or your would not be going past approx. 20 psi. boost.
  7. I second the both really cool video's! That first video, she does smoke a little until the rpms and turbo catches up.
  8. Not sure I would want that truck after those 2 brain surgeons dumps Sea Foam through the engine like that.
  9. It is VERY reassuring to see that I am not the only one who talks to himself, has problems finding screws, nuts, and bolts, the right tool, bumps his head and elbows, curses, and has such "great fun" working on his truck. In my case the language gets pretty bad with some problem cases and the video recorder would probably spontaneously burst into flames and explode. At least you can actually see what you are working on. I have to constantly take my glasses on and off and change glasses for better magnification, on top of sweating like a horse.
  10. Great pulling videos and NICE looking truck. I am not a puller but love to watch and go to local events when they have them. Just my luck, IF I hooked my truck up to a sled, I would tear something up.
  11. Got around to changing the oil and doing some services and maintenance on the wife's truck yesterday. It still has the OEM oil pan drain plug in it. I was going to replace the drain plug last time with a magnetic drain plug I bought from some scam artist on eBay but the plug didn't even come close to fitting. Last oil change I ordered a magnetic drain plug from Genos Garage and have it ready to install this time. http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HDOP-KIT-22MM I put one of these drain plugs on my other truck and they work great. I just wish they would make them with the rare earth high strength magnets. I put these rare earth magnets on the oil filter as little extra measure of protection. Not sure if they make any difference or not but they are REALLY strong for such small magnets. I got them from Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/10-piece-rare-earth-magnets-67488.html These magnets come in a stack of 10 but I place them 2 at a time stacked in a circle of 5 on the lower side of the oil filter. These puppies are unbelieveably strong for such a small magnet and for $1.99, the price is RIGHT! As is par for the course, the OEM oil pan drain plug was a sombiatch to get loose (I torqued it to 37 ft./lbs. last oil change) and when I FINALLY did break it loose........of course oil comes spraying out the threads in a wide circle even though I only backed out the plug a 1/4 turn. Could not get the plug to come out without burning the hell out of my hands, so I had to wait until the oil flow slowed down a bit. I prefer to get the oil pan drain plug out right away so the oil can escape and drag as much if any crud along with it as possible. :banghead: Maybe this drain plug might be put on duty as target on the 200 meter range. Anyhow, I just needed to vent.
  12. This probably will not make much difference but have you tried checking all of the ground ties and then removing power from both batteries to the truck system? I am going on the presumption that you have already either replace or verified the fuses and relays are good.
  13. That's not bad, especially if you lost out on 10 answers. You want to score as high as you can, colleges and scholarship funds like to see a score of 29 and higher if you want to get your choice of school and scholarship money. My oldest daughter took the ACT 4 times. Each time she would score 1 point higher. She finally called it quits at a score of 28. She still got quite a few scholarships. One of her friends scored a 33 and got a full ride scholarship to Vanderbilt. Hang in there! I know taking these tests REALLY sucks but if you can get your scores up a lot higher, it will really help you out in the long run.
  14. I run BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO in size 295/75-R16D. Best set of tires I have ever had on a truck. Very quiet, ride smooth, great off road traction, decent performance in mud, and can carry as much or more weight than the OEM size load range E tire. The only draw back is just a minor bit or rubbing on the lower front track bar on really sharp turns. Just the right size tire that fills up the tire well but does not stick out beyond the fenders on the OEM aluminum wheels. http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-selector/name/all-terrain-t-a-ko-tires
  15. This time I used straight R134a. No oil or anything. I'll put the gauges on it again and double check the pressures. If it seems a little high, I will let some out. Some oil will come out with it.
  16. I went according to the Dodge Service manual on page 24-3. The ambient temp table calls for an output temp in the center panel of 60-70 degrees F. at an ambient temperature of 90 degrees outside temp. Suction (low side) pressure: 50 -60 psi. Discharge (high side) pressure: 215 - 270 psi. When I did the charge, it was 95 degrees ambient temp on the thermometer. So unless the book is wrong, I am well within the parameters of charge pressures. I think I may have let a small bit of air in though. The system makes a low grumbling sound at first start up, but it cools now. We'll see how long it lasts this time. The reason I used 5 cans is that the charge hose came loose while charging and I did not catch it until the end. I tightened the hell out of the hose connections but apparently not tight enough. :banghead:
  17. I have a friend who has a 1999 Ram 3500 that he and I suspect the VP is going bad on. He is planning on buying the Blue Chip Special X pump to replace the VP on his truck. These Blue Chip VP pumps cost nearly twice as much as many others out there. With a failure rate as high as what you posted, I can't say as I blame you for wanting to go with the Blue Chip pump. Blue Chip claims to use all new components so this may be worth the extra money but who knows?
  18. For the most part, any water that may be splashed under the hood just rolls off of the Outerware prefilter cover. If you encounter enough water to soak the Outerware prefilter, you already have MUCH bigger problems than a wet air filter.........like water injection to the engine which NO filter of any kind will protect you from unless you install a snorkle kit or some sort.
  19. I noticed that my A/C was getting weak again so I checked the pressure. It was down. I added 5 12 oz. cans to get the pressure back up. I had a charge line come loose on me and I lost a good bit before I caught it. I don't think all 5 cans went into the system. With the temp at about 90 degrees outside, I got the low side pressure to about 58 psi and the high side was around 250 psi. I could hear something leaking down at the compressor when I shut the engine down. I think that may be where my leak is. DUH!!! :banghead: I am gonna check the A/C again today and see how it performs. With a fresh charge of R134a, the output temp in the middle A/C outlet was about 60 degrees which is within the specs. that manual calls for. Has anyone replaced an A/C compressor yet? Just can't wait to find out what this is gonna cost me.
  20. Not to be a smart arse.....but just trying to make sure you ask for or look for the correct item. It is called the Timbo APPS
  21. dieselautopower brings up a very good point. I neglected to mention that I bought my Mach 1.6 injectors used. I bougth the set of injectors and an Edge EZ for $400. That was a pretty good deal so I grabbed it. The previous owner used them for a very short period and removed them because he said they smoked too much. I suspect he may have been shipped the next higher set of Mach injectors but there was no way for me to tell. They DID smoke like a freight train until I added in the Edge EZ, BHAF, and 5 inch turbo back straight pipe exhaust. They still can kill a few mosquito's if I get on the go pedal too soon without enough boost. They do perform very well though. I think you will be happy with the RV 275's if you decide to go that route and still have some cash left over for something else as mentioned above.
  22. In addition the above, there are a lot of used and cheap Edge EZ's out there which work well and give a good bang for the buck. I keep a boost fooler just like the item you show in your link, in my glove box in the event that the Edge EZ goes on the blink and has to be returned for repair. That way I can still drive the truck without the possibility of setting off and over boost code and putting the ECM into limp mode. The Edge Comp is a "haus" if you choose to pierce the VP pump wire. The boost fooler alone will not give you much if any increase in performance......perhaps a slight amount.
  23. Then he can look like "Snookie" on Jersey Shore.
  24. Haaahhhhhhh!!!!!!! It is 95 degrees in the shade here! I have my A/C set at 85 degrees and it still feels cool compared to outside. The humidity is awefull!
  25. ISX, I think you missed your calling in life as a comedian!
