Vbulletin email, online, and phone support........is it worth the extra money???
That's a good point. I forgot about the forum support. Thanks! I think I'll just go with the plain vanilla software.

VP44 Write Up - Minimum pressure suggested...
Dan, as has already been noted above your lift pump is shot. They will behave in the manner you described and eventually will produce no pressure at all. The BEST and all application fix is to replace the lift pump with an Air Dog or FASS. For many, the $500 plus dollars and installation is just a bridge too far. A low cost fix for your application that would bolt into the OEM stock pump location is the Airtex 7153 fuel pump which is now being sold in place of the original Carter lift pumps at many auto parts store. They cost about $160 and are a straight bolt in replacement for the OEM Carter lift pump. They work well for STOCK applications. Since you have the Diablosport Power Puck, Boost Elbow, and Quadzilla Boost fooler installed; I strongly recommend going with the Air Dog or FASS. NO OEM style lift pump is going to work well or in some cases at all with a non stock engine application. The Airtex pump on my wife's truck works well but the truck is stock and the Airtex 7153 lift pump has been relocated to the frame under the fuel tank and a 1/2 inch big line kit has been installed all the way from the pump to the injector pump. Relocating the lift pump provided a gain of about 2-3 psi fuel pressure. This particular setup MAY work on your truck but you will have to monitor fuel pressure VERY closely. Again, the Air Dog or FASS is the best fix in your case.

Vbulletin email, online, and phone support........is it worth the extra money???
I am just about ready to pull the trigger on the Vbulletin software package. I am going with the Vbulletin 4.0 Forum License. The email/online support package is $80 and the phone support package is $300 for one year. This seems like a LOT of money for support that SHOULD already be included in the cost of the software license. Does anybody have any thoughts or suggestions about this?

03 Loses pressure at temperature
Artie, Welcome to the forum! I'll have to fess right up and say that I know next to nothing about these Common Rail engines. Perhaps you have already checked but have you been able to find and capture any codes in the ECM/PCM. Something is causing the CP3 to loose pressure to the rail. I would think that would trigger a DTC code. If so, it may help guide you on the right track with your troubleshooting efforts.

A/C Evaporator & Heater core write up!
I charged up the A/C system on my truck about 2 weeks ago. I have an electric and pneumatic vaccum pump to evacuate the system but when I put my gauges on the system, the low side pressure was still 16 psi, so I just added a can of R134a and it is good for another season. The leak is so slow that it take over a year or the freon to all leak out. Not enough to lead a dye trail or for a sniffer to pickup. What I want to know and perhaps this is material for a separate thread to start.......is there a way to access that evaporator pan inside the dash to clean it out and ensure the condensation drain is open and all is nice and clean. GAWD!!!!! I HATE the prospect of removing the entire dash to get in there. Anyone have any suggestions, tips, or techiques??? :banghead:

Which Web Hosting Plan to Go With Starting Out???
I was on Go Daddy and looking at the web hosting plans and I am not sure which plan I should start out with. They have an Economy, Deluxe, and Unlimited Plan. I was thinking about starting out with the Economy Plan which offers10 GB Space, 300 GB Transfer, 100 Email Accounts, and 10 MySQL Databases. I was thinking I can upgrade as I develop more website traffic. Any thoughts on this? What has your experience been with this? ---------- Post added at 11:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:49 AM ---------- I meant to add after looking further that Go Daddy is offer a special deal in which they will provide the Economy Plan web hosting for $1.99 for the first 3 months.

Vbulletin SQL Backup File Copy to CD
Mike, I figured how to copy the SQL file we talked about today. I was using the wrong drive. :banghead: I feel like Magrubber defusing an atomic bomb. Figured I would post my software antics on this forum and provide you guys with some clueless NOOBIE entertainment. I can mail the disk to you if you think you want to fool with it. At least you would have a copy of the file I am working with and be on the same page of music when I have a question. The wife/CFO gave the approval for the purchase of Vbulletin so I will download it tomorrow. Sound like progress? ehhhhh??????

Are newer 3rd gen etc. Steering Boxes compatible with 2nd Gen?
Does anyone know if there are any compatability problems with the box Geno's is selling and the DSS I already have installed on my truck? Or is it a direct replacement fit?

fuel system setup Q's
I agree on the freezing part of the AirDog. If you don't keep the fuel/water separating filter purged of water on a regular basis and purge it BEFORE the onslaught of sudden extreme cold weather, you will indeed be stranded with a frozen fuel system. A friend had that happen to him this last winter here in Tennessee. He fogot to purge the fuel/water separating fuel filter. The truck was parked too far away to use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the fuel/water separating filter. Or a apply hot water to the filter. The truck sat until warmer weather. On the other hand, the OEM fuel filter housing does warm the fuel up and work to prevent the fuel from gelling or fuel lines freezing once the truck has been put into service for the day. It's "6 or one or a half dozen of the other". In many cases, the fuel is adequately treated not to gel but water in the fuel is a "whole nuther story". The OEM fuel cannister is not going to help with that. It only takes a small amount of water to put you out of service. In area's that encounter very or extreme cold weather, I personally would keep the OEM fuel cannister as an extra measure of protection. In most cases, you should be fine without it though.

fuel system setup Q's
I have the 1/2 inch lines run through the OEM filter housing with adaptor fittings I had left over from the Vulcan Big Line kit on my truck. Works very well.

Quick Question Regarding Codes...
I read somewhere that it was 5 but never could verify it. Forgot where I read it. Where did you find that info Mike?

Quick Question Regarding Codes...
0382 = Intake Air Heater Relay No. 2 Control Circuit 0380 = Intake Air Heater Relay No. 1 Control Circuit 0215 = Fuel Injection Pump Control Circuit Greenwood, What I think may have happened is that the batteries were already low and the grid heaters already draw more amperage than the alternator can put out and depend on the batteries to make up the difference. That batteries could not make up the amperage difference so the system voltage dropped significantly. In the course of the extreme low system voltage, the grid heater relays did not have proper voltage to operate and stuck. Hence the DTC codes for BOTH relay control circuits. It is HIGHLY unlikely BOTH relay circuits would go bad at the same time. The 0215 is a coin flip. The extreme low system voltage could have triggered that as well or you may have a separate problem. Occasionally my wife comes back home minutes after leaving for work all upset that the check engine light came on. I check the system and find that a low voltage DTC code is latched. The grid heater relay stuck and drew the voltage down. I get in the truck and start it right up and all is well. Go figure. Just a momentary glitch due to her truck setting for a several days. In your case, it is a bit different story. I think I would try starting it up again with freshly charged batteries and see what happens. The DTC codes should reset themselves after 5 successful fault free, start events if my memory serves me well. (it rarely does )

A good use for the OE ISB lift pump
Looks like a winner to me! I have been considering the exact same thing with the left over lift pumps I have on hand too. Great minds think alike!

Help no fuel to filter
This is exactly what I have on the wife's truck. Aside from that it is stock. It works well for this application. By the way Bugman, did you replace the fuel filter when you replaced the lift pump? If not, I recommend doing this. You would be amazed at how much a restricted filter can drop fuel pressure. I use the Baldwin PF7977 fuel filters and have to replace them once between oil changes. They become restricted at around 3,500 to 5,000 miles and can be noted be a considerable fuel pressure drop. I don't like anything below 14 psi for normal driving and 12 psi for acceleration. The Baldwin fuel filters are 5 micron and a much better filter than the Fleetgard filters in my opinion, at least in this application.

Gasolne i
If you want good anti-gel/icing protection, I suggest trying this: http://www.amalgamatedinc.com/tdr-wda.aspx I bought a 5 gallon pail about a year ago and it cost $100.25 and shipping was $35. Way cheaper than the Power Service sold in Wally World. One pail treats 1500 gallons or 1:300 mix rate.

Help no fuel to filter
I didn't see if you had an after market lift pump in your signature. Sure does sound to me like your lift pump has gone bad and or your fuel filter may be restricted. If you are running the OEM/stock Carter lift pump, they are very unreliable and frequently go bad in this manner. If this is the case and you replace the lift pump and go with the OEM style lift pump, get the Airtex 7153 lift pump. It is a direct drop in replacement and a MUCH more reliable lift pump that puts out a bit more pressure and volume. Not the best or ideal fix but about the best fix for replacing with an OEM style lift pump.

fuel filter change
I keep an eye on the fuel pressure gauge and if I note any deterioration of fuel pressure from normal, I replace the OEM canister filter on the wife's truck. On my truck I do the same but I have the AirDog filter that gets replaced first then the OEM cannister filter if pressure does not return to normal.

The old truck needs tires again
Walmart used to carry these tire but apparently they no longer do. They are great tires and last a lot longer than any others I am aware of as well as run quiet. Very smooth riding tires. Good compromise off road tire for mud and trails. This is the largest size you can install on a stock truck and not have major problems rubbing. These may rub the lower axle track bar just a little of very sharp turns. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain+T%2FA+KO&partnum=975R6ATAKORWLV2

Baldwin PF7977
I buy just about all of my filters here: http://www.bfwebexpress.com/ So far they have the best prices on Baldwin filters if you buy them by the case.

Tractor Forum Got a Face Lift
Guys, Spring is just around the corner and the growing season is about to start. Tractor Fourm just got a face lift and software update. I just dragged the PTO tiller out of the barn and got it mounted on the back of the tractor. Gotta get that garden tilled up and some seeds in the ground. Drop on by for a look and any tractor, farm, garden, or related questions. http://www.tractorforum.com/ Mike, I gave your website a plug this morning. There have been a lot of users logging onto Tractor Forum the past few days. Thought I would give you a plug and share the wealth. http://www.tractorforum.com/f5/how-did-you-hear-about-tractor-forum-9158/#post106871

Smoke Switch Install
Let me add my humble 2 cents worth to dually's. Smoke switches are a REAL BAD idea. Not in and of the switch itself but because of so many immature, selfish, ignorant, and abusive jerks who abuse them and use them to harass and irritate people. Not saying you are one of those. Hopefully you will use yours OFF ROAD and away from folks who object or don't know you. The JERKS who abuse their smoke switches WILL in the long run RUIN diesel truck ownership for everyone else by triggering much more stringent emissions inspections as well as the typical NANNY STATE over reaction with more STUPID and restrictive laws as well as empowering our already militarized, radical, aggressive, neo-terrorist law enforcement officers to even further abuse and misuse their immoral and unconstitutional so called "law enforcement powers". Eventually, so much as a small puff of smoke between shifts will result is an onerous and outrageous ticket and expensive inspection. With great freedom comes great responsibility. I GREATLY love and enjoy what little freedom we have left. Guard it preciously and exercise the great responsibility that comes with the temptations and wide latitude of freedom. Think about what your actions cause for the rest of us. A great example is the flood of "NO JAKE BRAKE" signs going up across the country because of some brain dead idiots who are incapable of thought and responsibility. Gun control is another.

opinions wanted please
Put one of these a friend welded up for me on my truck almost 2 years ago. I could tell the difference in how the truck would hold a straight line much better on the road and handled better. Definitely worth installing in my opinion.

Should Ron Paul Run in 2012?
Damn Skippy right Ron Paul should run, even if he has to run as an independent. I am DONE holding my nose and voting for the lesser of two evils so the Marxist Democrats don't win. Their is not a dime's worth of difference between the Dems and Republicans. They are different wings of the same Progressive party.

smoke switch
AMEN to that brother! Some child molesting, backwoods, snaggle toothed, white trash, country bumkin who lives near me "used" to think it was real cool turning on the smoke switch on his Dodge truck and smoke out people he didn't like or trying to impress. When he got word that one particular really pissed off person that had enough of his smoke antics was considering filing stalking charges against him.........the smoke switch routine disappeared FAST. Guys like this dirtbag take things WAY too far and ruin it for everyone. It is one thing when you are off public roads or only around folks you know don't mind it and in good fun........it is quite another when it is done to harass and aggravate people who do not like or want it, especially when their kids are in the vehicle. What goes around comes around. Treat others with some respect and like you would want to be treated and life can be much more rewarding.
