Normal EGT?
If you were at 15psi then you must have had a pretty good load. The 900F sounds better in that case. Ya know, I just read the whole post again and your basically posting the same numbers loaded and unloaded.. See if you can get some more numbers and record all the conditions and such. Numbers when the TC is locked up would be best. Oh and the fuel plate really doesn't do anything unless you are really stepping on it. The boost can be brought up faster by tightening the valves up and moving the starwheel forward but I'd like to see some more numbers. You kinda got some weird data if you got the same numbers towing or not. You havn't questioned them in the past as far as I know and my gauge is digital and matches the overhead exactly in the morning. Remember, he said in 3rd locked up on a 6% grade..3rd for an auto is 4th for my 5spd...do you realize how much effort the engine has to put out with my small tires and 4th gear at 55mph (2000RPM on mine)....there is nothing but leverage and evacuation of heat. I would think something was wrong with yours if your seeing 800F for the same conditions.

Injector cleaning question
The fluid (whatever it may be) is only to wash the loose contaminents off. Both Mike and I have tried several things and we can't get anything to eat away at carbon no matter what. According to scientists, the fluid has to move and will help clean away the carbon. Meaning it works while the truck is running. Whether or not this actually DOES work though is open to debate. In Mike's vid, it is the scotch pad that does all the cleaning, the fluid is just to wash the bits of scotch pad out of the injector since it has to be PERFECTLY clean before reassembly. Meaning, you can basically use anything that won't explicitly attack the steel of the injector, so don't use sulphuric acid.. I have used penetrating oil, WD40, uhh and everything else under the sun that has some sort of lubricating property and comes in an aerosol can. I want to be able to blast the debris out rather than just let it soak in it, therefore I always opt for pressurized cans of something. I opt for something with lube because it's an injector that relys on the lube of the fuel much like injection pumps so I stray far away from something that leaves it dry like brake cleaner. So my #1 choice is PB Blaster.. It's very thin and is "oil" so lubes nice as well. I spray and blow everything out with an air hose multiple times and then spray it and reassemble so that the oil is still coated on everything so that everything is nice and happy. BTW, the injector parts are made of very hard steel and hardly anything will touch it besides sandpaper. The carbon deposits are much easier to get off so don't worry about scratching the injector with a scotch pad because I don't think it will happen. I mean it's tooling steel....like what drill bits are made of, maybe even harder than those.

EMP
The only things that would work afterwards would be manual 12 valves. You could simply push the shutoff solenoid up, push it down a hill and it would run just like usual, except with no gauges. In other words, my truck is invincible! Just need several people to push

phat shaft turbo
I don't think I would spend any money on a turbo just yet... Get it running, see if you actually need it, then maybe.. I haven't needed one.

Normal EGT?
What does this have to do with Idaho's laws or what's on the side of the tire? It was an example.....The point was that the fan doesn't do as much for the intercooler as going highway speeds does. It has a radiator in front of it blocking the intercooler.. I'm sure it does something or else the A/C would get hot but the a/c only needs 5mph air moving acrossed it so it shouldn't be a factor here as all it needs is a person waving a chinese fan at it. I don't think the intercooler gets as much airflow as it needs doing 5mph to cool it down to what it goes down to at highway speeds. So EGT's go up as a result of the hotter incoming air. There is the question of how much the turbo was actually doing at 5mpg in 1st though. If it was a big hill I believe there was more lugging going on than anything and that causes the 900F temps and the turbo wasn't spooling much since there wasn't enough fuel to get it going. A lot of this is variable though because its an auto meaning it's unlocked meaning the RPM's coulda been at the stall speed or they coulda been at 2500. He said 5-10 which my truck is topped out in 1st at maybe 10mph but autos have a much higher 1st gear so they can go a lot faster. If it were my guess I'd say the main contributor was the lugging factor, not enough RPM's to keep it cool. However, 900F is fine. The truck did it's job just like it was supposed to. Mine sorta stops climbing around 1100 so even if it's at 1000 all day it's no concern of mine because it will stop climbing at 1100, reaching some sorta equilibrium. If I floor it it will get hot fast but sane driving it will stay where it's supposed to.

Normal EGT?
EGT is determined a lot by air flow and the temperature of the air. In 1st gear you saw 900F because the intercooler wasn't getting any air through it. I'm sure the fan helped but nothing like when you go 70mph. RPM is also something that helps because it not only gives you more leverage (such as the leverage 4.10's give you) but it also pumps the hot air out. I also pull stuff at 2000+, no EGT issues whatsoever.

How would you describe this to someone else..
I think the best part was when he was going down into the ditch and the trailer pushed it and it revved way up like it was doing something and then the instant the push turned to pull, it stopped What gets me is they never laugh, they never question, it's as if everything is perfectly normal and the usual way of life lol. But then they put it on youtube so they must know something is up lol. I thought it sounded like the spark plug was almost fouled. Needs one of those 4 prong platinum plugs.

How would you describe this to someone else..
Alright I came across this thing and uh yeah. I don't know whether to laugh or cry or...... I just had to make a thread about it lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eiCXhmcTu8&feature=related

Jesus! Do you gotta get a snowmobile to get through that?

Really? poor gas milage?
I am not a converter lol. Save your money, rebuild the auto, if it's still crap I'll come fix it. Given that the engine isn't just worn out from the constant donuts you do in walmart parking lot.

Really? poor gas milage?
A 12mpg 12 valve! Bring it to me. As long as it's not the transmission that's the problem, I can fix it lol.

NEED HELP, 98.5-02 year to year changes..
I'm just doing the engine stuff for now. The brakes, cad, interior, etc. can wait lol. It's not like I can just go to fritz's year to year changes thing, thats kind of a hint at things but there are so many other things I am finding that are different that nobody has taken note of so I'm spending a lot of time just trying to find everything.

Who can figure out the difference between these 2 turbos..
Yeah thats the silencer ring. It's just a concave washer held in with a big snap ring that goes all the way around it.

NEED HELP, 98.5-02 year to year changes..
Yeah I'm figuring out how much of a project it really is. I get one thing figured out and then figure out it snowballs from there. Like injectors change sizes throughout the 12V years/models but they also change nozzle tip size, pop pressure, spray angle Got it all listed though. I think the newer trucks don't have so many changes from year to year but the 1st gens did a lot of changes over the 4 years.

NEED HELP, 98.5-02 year to year changes..
AH64 and I are going to make a huge spreadsheet on the year to year changes of the engines down to the last nozzle differences. I can take care of 89-98.5 12V's, he has all the 5.9 CR's, but neither of us know every minute detail of the VP engines from year to year. For example, in 1995 or something (need to look) the 12valve pistons has lower top rings than previously.....yes, I'm talking EVERY year to year change detail. We got hundreds of pieces scattered throughout the net and I think it would be neat to make this happen. Since 90% of you seem to have a VP truck, I think you guys can throw in what you know about them that changed and I can combine it all. That means 2 people have 14 years worth to cover and the other 2000 members can help us with 3.5 years.... I think thats reasonable Again just throw in what you know if you want.. Try and make sure its not some grapevine rumor. For instance, there are 3 different compression ratios for the 12V listed throughout the web Thanks in advance to anyone that helps.Oh and I know the HP TQ Turbo differences, so I'm talking just the detailed stuff.. Injector differences, piston differences, even block differences between the CR and the 12V engine.

Vote 2012
Yeah I'm not seeing it lol. I do have a big problem with why a 60% efficient? coal plant would be shut down yet 13mpg toyota tundras pass with flying colors. I have talked with guys who do the windmills and they said the cost to maintain them outweighs any savings. I realize there is no heat generated with windmills but I don't think we can build enough to feed the country. If it was from a pollution standpoint, I think all these low mpg cars produce a crapload more than a coal plant which I think you guys use filters and stuff on the emissions of it. Obviously they are way outta line. I have yet to figure out why no 1/2 ton truck has a diesel. They say "we aren't ready" yet when they stuck one in the cherokee/liberty the sales were through the roof. There is something else going on. Big oil paying them, who knows.

Vote 2012
I didn't say you did, and that's whats good about this forum Actually I wondered about all of us adding to a thread about what a real plan of action for the country is... Like what we should do with health care, explained.. Not just "we should repeal it", ok, then what? I want to see a big plan drawn up that we all add to and compromise with each others views to make an incredible plan. From what I see nobody in the white house or anywhere really had a plan. Obama said pull the troops by 2014, 100%, ok, then what.... I mean we can talk about what they do wrong all day but I never really see what they SHOULD be doing. It's as if a plan is inconceivable. We could prove them wrong..

Vote 2012
Everyone has an opinion, as long as we don't bash each others then carry on I guess everyone is bashing obama but if any of you voted obama then hopefully those who didn't, open their eyes and see why you voted for him in the future. I'm not going either way I'm just saying to the obama voters who see this to let the rest of us eat our words if we are wrong. We all have opinions and sometimes it takes actions we can see rather than words from politics' mouths. I didn't vote and don't think I know enough about either one of them to do so, so don't take this as me siding with either one of you guys. I mean I have yet to be raped of everything yet so..I'll believe it when I see it. I imagine if I went to an east coast forum I would be reading opposite views on it all. It's kinda nice though cause we have all kinda teamed up on here and we really don't have any enemies in this forum. If you said Obama sucks on CF I imagine you would be thrown out, but we have developed an understanding for each other on here and thats pretty nice to have. So in that respect, we have won as a forum.

I wonder if it was a 2000.5 changeover and you got the early 2000. Hmmmmmmmm

Who can figure out the difference between these 2 turbos..
Well that didn't take long lol. Because up until this point, I didn't think there was a difference. I ran across some riceburner thread that exploited each one since they want to know which trucks they want to break into. The blade count is the difference. Here is what the results were.

Who can figure out the difference between these 2 turbos..
Alright this first turbo is an HX35 from a 95-98 12V. http://www.supermotors.net/getfile/854472/fullsize/hx35-hybrid-kit-(12).jpg%20alt= And this turbo is an HX35 from a 99-02' 24V, so who can figure out the difference?

Need HO VP and CR engine numbers
Alright here's what I got now. If it's not on here, I got conflicting data so I can't fill it in... That also includes all the 6.7 crap. The chassis started at 305/610 but the regular trucks had some derating for the manuals and once again I have websites with missing info on when exactly the derating ended or what. Plus I don't know anything else about them (turbo, etc.). Oh and thanks for the help AH64! Took care of the CR section like nothing
