  1. Probably won't budge for 4 years so you can have it lol. I pull our dirt bike trailer around and thats about it. Occasionally a powerstroke haha. Just make sure you get a good clutch before you put it all together... One that holds at least eh 900ft lb. When you get to that 400HP/800TQ point you are pretty well at your limit before you have EGT issues. I'm talking with stock parts.. I actually have a guide for everything I did. Here it is http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/3656-How-to-Make-the-Perfect-12V Just remember, I have 100% control of the throttle since I have NO AFC... Some people don't have that kinda control with their foot it seems. I don't see it as being that hard. You might also need it for smoke control. I seem to have got into this natural smoke hindering driving habit so I don't really get it rolling too much. It just raises EGT's and blacks stuff out...waste of time lol. But yeah ask away.
  2. Alright I didn't actually read that longggg thing before I posted lol, until now. I didn't think there were many stories I hadn't already read. I think most of them were from him, however I never saw any telling the actual speed. I just couldn't believe they still had throttle left all the way up until it pinned out at 3.5 That is just incredible. What drives me nuts is they built that thing in the 60's and if it were put back into service today, it would still be unbeatable. One thing I found particularly interesting that they didn't talk about there was that to refuel, the SR71 was as slow as it could go and the boeing was going as fast as it could go. However, that still wasn't enough. They said to refuel it they had to go into a nose-dive to pick up even more speed because the SR71 just couldn't go as slow as those boeings cruised during level flight. It wasn't straight down but I guess the entire time it was refueling they were in a constant decent to keep enough speed up.
  3. I drove all the way to hutchinson, kansas just to see that damn thing over the summer. Bad asss is the only way to describe it lol. I got pics of it all somewhere, including really fine detail pics of things, hope they didn't get dumped with all my other pics. I'll post them if I find them.
  4. All you need is a fully splined shaft, problem solved. This saves me from typing it all http://quad4x4.com/NV4500%205th%20Gear%20Failures%20and%20Solutions.htm
  5. I am not 100% on it but I'm willing to bet on it.. There are a lot of things that get misconstrued from the truck puller world. If you listen to all of it you will end up beefing up your truck until you've spent $5000 on something that pulls around your jet ski just so you can be sure that when you do have to pass someone at 100mph going up pikes peak, you will be ready lol.
  6. Describe this chatter.. I sometimes leave mine in 3rd and don't touch the pedal and let it idle through town and don't hear any chatter. I lug it up hills in 3rd or 4th for fun as well. 5th gear has that stupid nut issue so I never have any fun while in 5th. But I never hear any of this chatter thing.
  7. W&F, did you make it into the government seat you talked about a few months back? I wanted to know what things you saw when you actually "got in". From my perspective you don't see half of the story until you are "in" and see what happens behind the curtains.
  8. The other day I had a member call me asking about loctite and such and although everyone has their own way of doing it, I thought it would really be neat to get a guide going as to when to use loctite, what type to use, fine vs. course. thread benefits, wire wheeling the bolts before reinstalling, what you should do to the hole before putting the bolt back in or just on a new install (new part install). Also the importance of proper bolt torque and what tolerances there are (how close to the spec does it need to be..) For instance, the red and blue loctite seem to mix together in applications if you ask me. I was thinking we could get some solid guidelines to which one to use for what application.. Then there is what to do with a bolt that you take out and put back in.. I know some people take it out and put loctite over the old loctite and stick it right back in. Then some people don't use loctite at all. Then there are people who clean the threads up with a wire brush and stick it back in with or without loctite. Then there might even be some people who never reuse old bolts. Then there are custom installations that may need to be tapped, so do you use course or fine thread? I realize the physical differences and strength differences. Fine thread is stronger but then why do we have course thread.. Then we have the bolt, we can use a new one, polish the old one, don't polish it,..but what about the hole? Is it necessary to run a tap down it to clean out any other residue? Then we have bolt torque...I know a lot of people say to overtighten things so they don't loosen or slip in the case of my timing gear which is timed and held there by just the pressure of the nut, no keyway. So is there some % tolerance for the torque values? I will be definitely turning this into an article.. My personal input is to wire wheel the old bolts, put loctite on them, and reruse them. I don't touch the hole unless the screw has issues going in which then I run a tap through it. I don't see any reason for course threads other than how quickly you can unscrew them. The proper bolt torque tolerance is unknown to me. Those are my rough thoughts. I'd really like to get in depth on this with you guys. If there are alternatives to what I just said, alternatives to loctite, by all means share your thoughts.
  9. I'm not 100% sure but I think the pyro breaking off scare is derived from the truck/tractor pullers which get them much hotter than we do and then they let off and it cools them quickly. This is kinda like quenching them which makes them really brittle. I don't think we have anything to worry about.. Of course this is just my theory.
  10. Me and google are BFF's http://www.leawo.com/video/3gp-mp4.html
  11. Yeah that would be great Haggar. As much crap as these vacuum lines cause, the more pics the merrier.
  12. Can I steal those pics to add to the write up? I guess I didn't take enough pics of that thing, (bring your truck back john )

  14. I think the 1500 "Sport" editions were rated for twice the capacity, so, you're good to go.
  15. I actually wonder how a gasser would be if it had a turbo. My ford 7.3 doesn't have a turbo and a 460 gasser would run circles around it. I had my turbo boot blow off while towing and a 5.9 V8 gasser would probably run circles around it at that point too. So I just wonder.... I know the mileage still wouldn't be there, but would it even compare if they had a turbo?..
  16. Dang Dobienut. Little bondo and it'll be good as new. Hope his memory returns. I found that flight thing (not THAT detailed) a few months back. I tracked a plane off of japan heading towards american and couldn't figure out how it was going 720mph. I have done a LOT of reading on boeing specs and they barely break 600 from what I saw. After much more research I found out they go that fast by hitching a ride on the jet stream. They are still going 600mph...but that is relative to the jet stream air. So if the jet stream is going east as 120mph and they are flying east as well then the speed is theoretically "zeroed" at 120mph, and they go 600mph from that, which gives an actual ground speed of 720. They said airlines planned everything around jet streams because it can make or break a significant amount of time. If you are going into the 120mph jet stream then you are only going 480mph ground speed for instance. Anyway, I thought that was really neat when I learned it. That site has a lot more details though.

Hmmmmm, would the economy be the same in ND if they didn't have an underpopulation problem? You say mcdonalds can't even find enough people and they pay $15/hr to those they do find.. That's uhhh, incredible. Here we have so many people working there that they only get 4 hours a week in or $100/2 week paychecks.. Lets say everyone just decided to go to ND since the economy was so good, so then you had more people than jobs... You say you have a lot of jobs there but I am wondering if it's more just not enough people rather than not enough jobs. As in, if you had an extra 20,000 people in town, would all the jobs be taken? If you had an extra 100,000 people move in, then what? I see it as a result of underpopulation.. I am not trying to debate though since I obviously haven't been on soil long enough to say anything. But why is it that underpopulated there? I mean the mcdonalds thing realllllly says you have nobody there, at least that's how I take it. I just can't understand why when there are very skilled people losing everything in other states, surely they woulda heard about ND or something. Or is it the lack of advertising that is keeping ND underpopulated and keeping the people there at such high salaries?
  18. And you did all that damage while trying to get that sensor out? Dannnggg. I can't remember exactly where it is (haven't seen under my hood in months) but I think maybe you could get at it better if you took the fuel filter housing out. You don't have to take the fuel filter mount off just the filter/housing so maybe you can stick your arm in there.
  19. This is just.....unbelievable. It's difficult but geeeez Rogan lol. It's just a sensor threaded into a hole... Bring it to me and I'll have it out in 3 minutes.
  20. I think as long as you recorded the mileage before the swap and what the new one says so you could go from there, that you would be fine. Every time you get it inspected they record the mileage and it would show up. They won't care but if someone says "show me the carfax" then it will show.. My F250 only has 5 digits on the odometer and I looked it up one day and the carfax mileages are all over the place.

I can't think of everything when I post on here but I am not saying go to college to have a good life..it was just the life I wanted. People who work in factories, work on their own, all of that, I am perfectly fine with and would support them with whatever they needed. People have different goals in life.. If it is obvious that they hate their life and want to change, then I can teach them how to fish and they can decide which fish they like to eat on their own. There just seems to be a big problem these days with needs vs. wants. Do they need a job or do they want a job? Though kids these days seem to add a 3rd option of do I care to have a job when my parents are willing to give me money.. There is a guy at the local supermarket who must be 15 or so and every time I am there, he is there. He bags, he checks out, he stocks, but he is always busy nonetheless. He also wheres khakis, a button up and a tie. Now this might be a requirement but he wears it all, looks professional and he acts professional. He doesn't acted ashamed that he works there or anything like a lot of kids do. They seem to all think they are worth a million dollars with their $2 skills. These subtle people are all over the place and I would hire him in a heartbeat over someone questionable who says they have all the skills needed. An example of this is that we had a couple bigger electrical jobs and the boss would get these contracted electricians to help out. Their resume said they had wired the space station, ran trans continental fiber optic line, been on the titanic, everything. Yet they couldn't bend conduit any closer than I could get if I simply ran it over with a fork truck. Stuff like that is precisely why guys have 30 or 90 day hire on things. Your resume is one thing, how much of it shows to be true from within you is another. But I think we all know a lot of this. So the question is why.. Is it because the teachers who are usually the kids first impression on work ethic uhhhhh don't have any ethics? My HS was a joke in that regards. In history we watched napolean dynamite.. I don't remember anything with elementary. Or is it that our parents gave us everything we wanted without having to work for it? I never had to do chores or anything so it did have an effect on me. Thankfully I grew out of it, the other 2 siblings weren't so lucky. All of this is very debatable and I don't think there is any right or wrong answer.

Some people see things as being hard, out of reach, etc. And others think anything is possible. I wouldn't say my parents were the greatest. I have a brother (26) and sister (19) and the brother works hard but blows all of his money on beer or diesel crap. I am no against him wanting to innovate, he puts diesels in things and does other stuff and my interest in diesel is probably because of him. But he lives in my parent's basement with no bills, has a service truck he drives home, so he has no bills, yet he has no money.. So although he might have the work ethic down, he hasn't got the other half down. He doesn't want a loan because it is a huge undertaking, in other words, he is afraid. He has no problem getting jobs so if I were him I would get a loan/house/car and be done. My parents fit into this because they never really push us. I think they thought he was a lost cause so they didn't even try. But I was the A student so they told me to go to a university. Between seeing my dad come home stressed out every day (engineer) and seeing my brother go to college for just 2 years and already making money, I didn't see any benefit to going to a university. I went 2 years for electrician, worked and it was just like my brother had done. But you reach a $20/hr ceiling and you're pulling wire for the rest of your life, unless you start your own company, so that you can then tell others how to pull the wire. So here I am, at a university, while the kids I graduated with in HS are now graduating from the same university 4 years later and already have good jobs. It's not about the money for me it's just the fact that I want to be more, to innovate, to create... When I read everything saying "it takes more fuel to make more power" I get a little frustrated over the fact that these engines are not 100% efficient and the only way to make more power out of a 30% efficient engine is to just throw more fuel at it.. It just seems a little beside the point. I think it should be "how do we make it more efficient?" Rather than "how do I get more fuel to it?" Because in the end, they will both make more power.. Where was I. My sister on the other hand saw it differently. She is at the same university as me but because she took weighted classes in HS, she is considered a Junior here, even though she is only on her 3rd semester. My parents have paid for all of us to go to college, me and my brother being somewhat cheap being just a 2 year technical school. My sister is costing them a lot but I think they almost got the house paid off. I used my first chance up so now I have to foot the bill for everything for these 4 years. Even saving for a year (when I realized I wanted to go back) I only managed $10k, which will get me through 2 semesters. So every summer I have to make $10k.... It will take some work. If you ignored everything I just said (don't blame you lol) then my input is this: Kids today either get the itch to want to succeed or they don't. Every single thing you do to them, tell them, that they see, has an effect on this drive to excel. I used to think everything was hard, that I would never be able to work for NASA or anything. There would always be classes you walked by in elementary school that were upper level grades and you would see what was on the board and your jaw would drop. But you never realize in the future when you are in the same class, how easy it was and how impossible you thought it was back then. There is NOTHING that someone can't do with proper training. Having an interest to do it helps...probably cuts the training time in half. I realized that and that is exactly why I am back in college.. A lot of my excel sheets need some hard math and I become interested in learning it because of that.
  23. You could put a T into the heater core lines. But other than that, there really isn't anything.. The 12V's don't have that coolant port between exhaust pairs like the 24V does.
  24. I put it in the same hole the OEM one goes in.. OEM one is about worthless anyways. That little hose is an air bleed for the coolant in the engine. It has a weight in it that drops when there is air but floats and plugs the hole when there is coolant. If you squeeze and let off the top radiator hose you will hear the weight going up and down.
