What's with CR's and Smoke?
I didn't think the 5.9's had DPF's on them. Is that to say the new trucks with DPF's smoke like that during regen and thats supposed to be "cleaner than the air we breath"?

What's with CR's and Smoke?
Read it again. I said it's like a gassers steam trail (white steam), as in it is the same small amount, but it is BLACK smoke. I realize diesels can steam (white) also, especially dmax's I've noticed. Mine never steams at all (white). But these CR's are blowing BLACK crap and it was 30F. I've seen it in the summer too.

MPG fooler - Design phase
How many months will it take you to find the resistor that works the best? We have a month worth of the 2.7K resistor.. I don't see why you couldn't figure out the best setting by taking ONE trip to boise with a POT.

MPG fooler - Design phase
What about using a potentiometer inside the cab and putting the scangauge on instant MPG and IAT temp and finding the flattest road, setting the cruise, and just turning the dial until you see the best number..

What's with CR's and Smoke?
I have been seeing this a lot lately and don't get what the deal is with them. You guys know how gassers give off steam on very cold days in the winter that only lasts like, 5ft out the exhaust pipe.. Well I keep seeing CR's doing this, only with black smoke. Same amount of smoke as the frigid gasser but black. I followed a CR cummins yesterday and we were doing 55 on level ground (I barely have to give it any fuel at all to hold that speed) and his was blowing a little black smoke the entire time. It only seems to be the CR's with this issue and isn't brand specific as I have seen it on all 3. Only thing I can think of is dirty air filter. What else could it be?

What's with my cruise control?
- Oil Pressure
The stock gauge is just an indicator at best. As in it either has oil pressure or it doesn't. Mike even has a video showing that coolant temp effects it, which it shouldn't, proving it is just a dummy gauge. In reality, cold engine oil is very high pressure, closing in on 100psi when below freezing. As the engine warms up it should drop to around 40-60.- What's with my cruise control?
This might help you understand how it works. Though it is probably not the issue, as it wasn't Nikki's either. I think those orange seals are pieces of crap and don't seal right half the time, causing all the issues. http://www.dieseltrucksite.com/showthread.php?t=134- 12v vs 24v truck
Alright I will settle this once and for all with the pros and cons of each and you can decide for yourself. They excel in different areas so it's not always the easiest thing to just say "one is better". I am also only listing REAL differences. Like I don't see the point of 12 more valves, I have seen no proof of it having any benefit for the common guy wanting <400HP. Therefore, I am not listing it. Or anything else I have seen no benefit or degradation from. Timing barely made it to the list. 24V VP44 Pros [*]Dynamic Timing [*]Can monitor many things with scan gauge [*]Manuals have auto compensating throttle (let off clutch and rpm goes down, 24V holds it up..kinda nice) [*]Can put a chip/programmer, whatever, on it and change settings on the fly [*]Error code problem diagnosis (most of the time anyways) [*]Computerized idle (always 750 or whatever stock was, never changes) [*]high idle Cons [*]Electric lift pump goes out (have to get airdog or something to fix it permanently) [*]VP44 goes out (2 stroke seems to keep it happy, but not 100% chance it wont fail again..) [*]Fly by wire pedal, always have to reset it or buy a new one or...junk [*]Has an ECM, which goes out some times 12V P7100 Pros [*]P7100 never goes out [*]Lift pump only goes out if you use terrible fuel, and even then will last 200k miles [*]Everything can be manually set if your into that sorta thing [*]Does not rely on a computer [*]Can be started without any kind of electricity (push start it, push fuel solenoid up) Cons [*]Static Timing [*]Cannot easily revert changes in fueling (grind plate, now your screwed if you want it back stock) [*]No set idle so the cold will make it idle low, to the point of stalling if your idle is set too low [*]No clutch auto compensation fueling [*]No high idle function (unless your an engineer from the south..)- Happy Birthday, Heavyd1980!
I'm not so sure I should wish you a happy birthday. It was the coldest day of the year (-10F) my fuel gelled and I had to go to work for once. However, I got a screwup in the mail (they double sent my order (second one FREE )) so that makes it worth it.So Happy Birthday!- Fuel prices thread...
Finally had to fill up today. The station in marshall, MO (35 miles north) is always cheap as hell, $3.05. They were also sold out of gas so I had the whole station to myself. It is a phillips 66, I always aim for phillips. Next choice would be Shell or BP (I have no problem with shell). I don't get caught up in all the foreign affairs crap, I need diesel thats all there is to it- Tire Air Pressure
- boost?
Shouldn't go over 35psi. Over that it just generates heat. Over 40-45PSI it probably gets into self destruct mode. I know a lot of guys (with trucks less modded than mine) who blow up the HX just because they capped the wastegate.- Photography - Snapshots of the Day
- Tire Air Pressure
E tires seem to all be 80psi. I usually run that in the front to support the cummins. In the back, pretty well anything 50psi and above is fine.- Photography - Snapshots of the Day
This might be the best I have.- Easy way to set valves

- Editing Thread Titles, anyone oppose?
I'm not stopping you lol, just changing titles. I will do it when nobody is looking or working on their page haha.- Editing Thread Titles, anyone oppose?
I am posting this here so it gets more exposure. I think most people skip over website and forum section unless they have issues. Anyways, there are several misspelled titles around here and the members rides section kinda lost it's standard title format. I am going to edit those so they are all back to standard so we look a little more organized rather than just typing anything we want into titles. I don't mind doing this at all, I just wondered if anyone has a problem with it? I don't want anyone to become offended on like the members rides section, making it seem like I am pointing them out to be ignorant or something. That's not the case at all I just want to get this place more organized and I kinda think it is fun seeing unorganized stuff become organized :lol:So does anyone oppose?- Shifting in and out of 4wd speed?

- Weird line from the sun
Never seen this before. Sun set and then it made this line. Camera reduces it a little, it is a very bright line. I've never seen the sun do that before through the dark clouds like that. Thinking it was just the sun shining on the bottom of the clouds or something. Here is the bigger version http://www.mopar1973man.com//isx97/Other/IMG_3042.JPG Here is if I adjust brightness and contrast to make it a little more obvious.- Shifting in and out of 4wd speed?
The main thing is to just let off the pedal when you do it, you can't have the engine loading the drivetrain. I have put my ford in and out at 60mph, smooth as silk. There is a bigger discussion about this in an earlier thread. /threads/3295-4wd">http://forum.mopar1973man.com/threads/3295-4wd - Oil Pressure
