All, anybody know why I am seeing 29VAC at 13.9VDC on an alternator?
Check for shorted fuses......:lmao2:Ok only thing I can think of is how is the ECM gorund? What about running a dedicated ground wire to the battery from one of the ecm mounting screws....err the pcm actually.I think your meter is just measuring DC ripple.

Going for a full build!
Exactly, after my tranny, I noticed this to. There is no slippage into the next gear, and being how the auto gears are further spaced then a manual the rpm's drop below the turbo. Even now, if I have the throttle right the turbo will do a slight bark when shifting into overdrive. Suprised me at first. Some vids of my new injectors, but you can see the rpm drops in the shifts.

Going for a full build!
I have a Goerneds, tranny, triple disc TC, billet input shaft, deep pan and his shift kit set up for more towing. I actually believe I have one of his earlier lower stall converters too. As for daily driving, it makes the truck more fun to drive. Its more responsive, I like the firm but not harsh shifts. You acn watch the tach needle drop 200 rpm when the TC locksup. Get on it with the TC locked up and acclerates. No flare in rpms. Of course that is my trick for tailgaters as it does load the engine and makes it smoke, alot if I want it too. Yea at times I can be an . I rode in a truck after my tranny and couldnt believe the difference. Stock tranny is definately a slush box. My truck is just stating to do that shift in and out of lockup, not sure what to do about it.I already have over 100K on the gorends tranny and have no issues. In the tow pic thread are some pics of me towing. I have grossed normally around 23K. Recent trip was about 22K goign north on I5 from AZ to WA. I'm sure some know those hills, grapevine and the mountains leading into OR. Goin up is no problem. Coming down I that my :brake:s are working.

Cam install thread
I wouldnt mind pics of them if you can. Not worth the 300 for one cam change. Thanks It would probably turn into a 2weekend project for me. I would fix other things while the truck was that far torn down.

Cam install thread
Doesnt sound too bad. What was the install time? Also where can you get the cam kit?

Pics of me towing things
Thanks on the 70. A work in progress. Gotta get ahead of the DD issues to play with the toys. The tandem axle is a 28' car hauler and the trailer my wife loving calls the "trailer of death" is 33' That is just the box. 39' tongue to tail. It has to be loaded just right to. Or definately a case of the tail wagging the dog. If I can find my weight slip one time my total weight was 29K and change. Read that turned around and unloaded the trailer into the other one. We were moving from fl to AZ and had the other trailer almost full in storage, so we repacked the big one and ditched a bunch of stuff. Still a bit overweight but not too bad. Once it was rolling not bad, The worse for that trip was teh wife having to creep at 55mph behind me. I definately need a 2 car bumper pull trailer. If I can find it I have a pic of me towing the 70 and flat towing another car behind the car trailer. --- Update to the previous post... I got into it from a necessity. I killed our Dakota pulling the car hauler. Wife says I rough on things and I need something a little more indestructable. Hence the Diesel. Truck runs good after a new tranny and another rear end. Dunno where she gets the idea I am rough on things. As for the enclosed trailers, took a job with intel in AZ while I was in FL. Had a moving company, (united van lines) move our stuff. 2 cars too. A 66 Barracuda and a 70 Chrysler convertible. The top on the Chrysler was destroyed and the door bent backwards. I swore to never let another company move me. Then we got the Dakota and soon realized I needed a little bigger. After the diesel bought the 33' trailer and then the 28' about 2yrs after that.

Rim question
Where did you get them, and what is a normal price maybe? Craigslist is kinda dry around me. Next time I need tires I want to put those on. I really like the look of em on 2nd gens.

If we all go in on a cam say the 181/210, I would be willing to donate my truck for pix!- Rim question
What is the difference between disc and drum wheels? I swapped in a disc rear so it doesnt apply to me, but I am looking at other wheel options. Basically if mine ever crack. Leaning towards 3rd gen 17" so I can goto bigger brakes. What is the offset on the 2nd gen 16" and the 3rd gen 17"s?- My latest contemplation... DRW shortbed...
IIRC the HO only got the D80, alnog with the 6 speeds? I thought somewhere the D70 is rated for 10K axle rating. Granted on a 2500 you run out of tire first. Unless ur running 19.5s. My 265/75/16 are only rated up to 3400ish as singles. Hence my rear weight rating of 6800ish. The Duallys with the D80 are obviously more. Not sure what a D80 is rated at. I have gone to about 7300 on the rear at one time. Truck squated, tires to full psi and I took it easy. Tires got warm but no issues. It was nice to really work the Cummins that time.- I think I may have the job I actually want finally
Nice. Anyword on the job? If you get the job, get a spare engine they are going to trash and build a diesel motorcycle. :)I dont have that kind of luck yet. Still chasing my job around. But got something in the works. If it goes through will be a happy camper.- sequential turbos
Not who I was thinking lol. Thanks- sequential turbos
E.D. ? I am sure I know who it is but can't think of who it is now. Sorry- sequential turbos
Yea I was hoping the variable vane would spool quick then my 62 would catch up then combined flow of a typical big single. Most common s480 I found was the 1.32. From the typical vendors I haven't found a s400 series available as a single turbo. They are either in a twin kit or a 3/4 kit. I will be doing the piping myself just buy some of the specific parts. Have you found a s474? A link maybe?I like your choice for twins. Before my current turbo I was looking at a garret as well.- Hard starting/Fuel drainback
Yea I guess it did. I put all new lines in already. Biggest thing I did was a DS5. Last thing was swapping back to the old DS. That works fine just back to watching the 1/4 tank thing again. Gotta get my other truck back on the road before I tear into this one again. For a week I had both trucks down and the motorcycle in the shop. Not a fun week. LOL Now just one truck down.- sequential turbos
I am really wanting to turn up the power a bit more. :ahhh:I was afraid of the unequal sized turbos not playing nice with each other. unbalanced flows etc..My current turbo is almost new. Only been on there about a year. As for the s480, more lookign for cheap, or actually just a good deal. Guys alsways say you can find these turbos for 500. Umm not me. Only finding them hovering around the 1K mark +/-$200. In the supercharger thread else where it was dicussed that depending on which turbo you have the S/charger can be either primary or secondary. In my case I would have it force fed my turbo, making it run as a secondary which is my intial plan with the s480. I was hoping that splitting the turbos I could simulate a (just a guess) s480. Would be nice, but either way I end up with 2 turbos. This was from a cost angle, as it seems cheaper to get a 351 turbo. So how does a exhaust brake work on a set of twins? Is it only on the secondary turbo? I have no programmer other then a smarty, kinda wanna go backwards and build it before tapping it.- sequential turbos
In the quest for more power, Current plan is try to find a s480, not much luck, Thoughts of a supercharger always take top honors, even if just casue it looks cool. On the other forum with the superchargers, a previous setup he ran was triple turbos. Basically splitting primary turbo in half. More or less. What about using one of those 351 variable turbos parallel with my turbo. The vgt should spool quick get it going and then the bigger turbo will catch up, then the combined turbos would equal a big single that wouldnt normally be able to be streetable in a DD. Some high end cars have sequential turbos, but I am not sure if the other takes over completely or if they run in unison. I would be worried about the quicker spooling turbo pushing air back through the slower spooling turbo.Just an idea, havent put a lot of time into research but it got me interested.- Egt temp
Not to hijack but where is your oil temp gauge. I want to install one as well but havent decided if in the pan or off the filter housing. Maybe even the turbo return line? Not that the turbo would be indicative of engine oil temp but I am guessing the most brutal area the oil has to see would be in the turbo.- Egt temp
Yes when I do tow and when it hits, 1250ish, is when the truck is slowing down as the mometum falls off from starting the hill. Whwn I reach that egt the rpm's are usually around 1600 and falling. Which then I usually downshift to a lower gear. Like mike said pulling a good hill, I am in the right lane with the rest of them. Usually humming at about 2-2100R's and about 900-1000egt.I cant remember where I heard it but suspposedly during the testing of the 6bt Cummins tested it at: IIRC 2500rpm full load and sustained 1200egt, for some stupid amount of time: 24hrs?- My latest contemplation... DRW shortbed...
Not sure if u saw this thread. It talked about the spring options and to me seems 2500/3500 had the same springs as long as the 2500 had a camper package. Spring talk- Ditching the overloads for airbags, maybe, need input..
Well as soon as my money tree starts droppin $100's I want to do these Air bags Oh and a set of these, umm air pressure relief orfices....Relief orfices or these - Best Mod EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
