  1. Yes...all are 8x165.1 or 8x6.5 patterns with same hub size. The lug thread and pitch patterns did change on the 4th or 5th gen. But that just means you'll have to use lug nuts that match your current threads.
  2. Any 8 lug Ram rims from any year Ram will fit...same bolt pattern even on the new ones.
  3. Exactly...if you hit something high enough to take out the Fuel Boss then you'll have bigger problems to worry about.
  4. I'm using a Fuel boss which is very similar to the DTT Assassin but not exactly the same...both are mechanical belt driven off the crank and mount in the exact same spot. The mechanical pump has been extremely reliable...I haven't given fuel pressure a second thought since install. Pressure is 18 idle and 20 when I gas it. The best thing about a mechanical is the dynamic fueling...pumps more pressure at higher rpms. All electrics are static so they pump less pressure at higher rpms. Reliability is the next best thing. All electrics have an expiration date...I don't care what name brand it is. The last best thing is customer service...Richard at Glacier Diesel was great to work with. I don't have personal experience with the DTT Assassin...but I can recommend the Fuel Boss.
  5. It depends on how much torque you are making and whether or not you are shocking the trans with all that torque...i.e. boosted launches, locked full throttle shifts with a triple disc. Depends on your wallet as well...billet intermediate shafts are about $700. Another factor would be whether you are willing to jerk the trans out and completely disassemble it again to fix it if it ever breaks the stocker. It was the last reason that got me. But I also feel better about locked throttle shifts and boosted launches now.

  7. No it is not necessary in that scenario. I would say that it becomes necessary when the transmission is getting abused behind a high hp engine. And by abused I mean boosted 4x4 launches, locked shifts under full throttle, etc.
  8. I have seen people running p7100 type psi to the VP44 without issue. Somebody will usually say "you'll blow the seals" or "you'll have hard starts" but I have never seen either happen. And I wonder if the ones who say that have even ever seen it happen. So I kinda take all that with a grain of salt. One thing is for sure that @SilverdodgeVP44 is cooling itself on another level compared to people running max 20 psi VP's. I don't run high psi is because 18-20psi has my original wire tapped VP at 205k without issue. So I figure I would just continue to go with what has been working for me.
  9. I love my triple too. Mine definitely feels like it locks harder but I went from stock to triple. I went with billet flex, input and intermediate just to be safe. Kept the stock output but I won't have to pull the entire tranny to change it if it ever craps out on me. Nothing puts the power down like a triple.
  10. I agree...having a higher stall with lockup capability would be having the best of both worlds. But the OP would need a modified valvebody, strong flexplate and a billet input shaft and possibly even billet intermediate and output shafts to do that...since he would be locking in 2nd and doing locked shifts while towing a load. That's a pretty expensive route though.
  11. You absolutely DO NOT want a high stall converter for a dedicated tow rig. For a street truck looking for power that rarely tows...sure a higher stall might be a good idea. But for a dedicated tow rig it would be "terrible advice".

  14. That's pretty comforting info for me. If mine makes it anywhere near yours I will consider the gamble a win. If I end up having to pull the tranny before then I'll have to revisit the decision again.
  15. That's pretty much how I roll as well. If I were paying for it to be done I would have a different view. But since it's my own labor I can afford to roll the dice. I didn't change my rear seal when I rebuilt my trans either. So far so good on the original at 205k.
  16. I was considering that too when I did mine. How tight did you torque them...stock specs or tighter?
  17. They are good people and they took care of me. They got about $5k out of me but I overbuilt...got the bulletproof package with billet everything. Flawless thus far.
  18. Brand I couldn't say one is better than the other but I run a Goerend. A billet single disc would be more than fine considering the weight that you are pulling and the mods you have. A stall speed equal to stock or only slightly higher would be ideal. You should also upgrade the valvebody to increase line pressure to help your new TC. Other cheaper mods to ponder if you upgrade the valvebody: Borg Warner governor solenoid, billet accumulator, billet lever, billet strut, billet anchor, billet servo cover. These are all optional but are weak spots with higher line pressure...and can be done without disassembling everything except for just removing the valvebody. An aluminum deep pan would also be a smart investment.
  19. Yeah I've ran into that one before. Not all ferrels will work in all compression fittings. I was trying to piece one together out of the messy drawer at the hardware store and mismatched one brand fitting with another brand ferrel...not a good result. I would have never known if the hardware store guy didn't explain that to me on the second trip. The more you know...
  20. Those kinda worry me on an mechanical gauge with no isolator setup...the compressions just seem much more reliable to me. I had push fittings on my air bags and couldn't get them to stop leaking. 90lbs when I parked the truck at night...10lbs in the next morning.

  22. I was going to say probably a bad torque converter. Lockup solenoid sounds OK but possibly a bad connection at the lockup solenoid? Here's a pretty good diagnostic write up on here by our fearless leader...
