  1. Can't speak for any of those specific suppliers but the first and last ones listed have a bigger list of items included in the rebuil kit than the middle two suppliers.I would read some of the feedback and probably select the one with the best customer score.
  2. I would think you have the oil seal that is leaking. Could be just the seal but could be shaft wear plus the seal. I used this shop to get parts and to upgrade my turbo to the HX35/40 hybrid. They were very reasonable and provided me with great service. http://gpopshop.com/
  3. Fueled at the Maverik in Boise today for $3.81. I hope it keeps going down. I could never figure out why we were being gouged so much for diesel. In the cracking process diesel comes off way before gasoline does. So it theoretically has less processing to produce and seems like it should cost less than gas. It used to be that way but now it seems to be at or above the price of gas everywhere I go.
  4. I believe a dealer can tell you with the VIN number and the other codes in the glove box.
  5. Ya, I have had some very bad product come from China when ordered directly from there. Sorry the LEDs are not going to work. I have resorted to only ordering LEDs from sites where I can see the specs and can choose specifically what I want (i.e. lumens, light color, regulated etc.) They cost more but I am really happy about them. If we lived closer I would show you how much light I have and how bright it is. People are shocked when they come inside and see my light output compared to the incandescent bulbs in their units. Good luck with your LED search.
  6. Getting my '05 set up for the camper. Added the Torklift tie-downs, the Torklift load stabilizers and the Hellwig Big Wig sway bar. This thing is 1 5/16" diameter. Rides really flat on the corners without the camper on.Oops, I had the picture of the 2nd gen rather than the 3rd gen which I just installed. This picture is the correct one.
  7. I bought them online because the price was about $50 cheaper than I could find locally. http://autoplicity.com/?utm_source=orderplaced&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=orderplaced PIAA 1500 Clear Flood Back-Up Lamp - Set of 2 SKU: PIA-1540
  8. I use the PIAA backup light system and have it mounted on my new hitch. It is up and out of the way from things on the ground but I'll have to be certain I don't back into a bank. Of course that would get my bumper if I did that.I looked at the units you are considering and they looked to be all plastic so I was a little concerned about durability. The PIAA's come with the wiring harness and switch to allow the lights to come on automatically when you put it in reverse or you can turn them on manually if you need the light to work on or see something in the rear of the truck. These have a lifetime warranty and really light up the area behind the truck. Thinking maybe if I got someone riding my tail end then I can flip these babies on and get there attention real quick.
  9. Most of the LEDs come from Asia I think. I tried a few cheap ones but didn't get any life out of them. I think one of the things you need to watch for is whether the LEDs are voltage regulated (meaning can handle voltage variations). The LEDs don't use much power (but unless they are regulated the life is real short). So I am guessing that if the units you bought are regulated to operate at something like 10-30 volts then you should be ok with them. The potential problem with really cheap LED 12volt lights is there is no room for the regulation feature in the really low price range. Good luck and let us know how they work out.
  10. No not yet. Had a few other projects that have taken my time. As soon as I get it completed I send an update with some pics.
  11. If you are dry camping then I would think of at least two areas to look at: loose or corroded connection; weak battery(s).If you are plugged into power then maybe a loose or corroded connection. I am not sure what operatring characteristics you would see if the inverter had a bad internal connecting or weak component.
  12. I run those exact tires on my 2nd gen. I have previously been buying Les Schwab Tires because they have dealers all over so I can get service easy if I need it.I have gotten anywhere from 30 -35k miles max. I have probably bought 5 sets over the years. I swore them off because of the crappy miles and went with the Cooper Discover. I have 15k miles on this set and there are wearing great. I really like these tires. From the looks of them I am thinking it won't be hard to make 60k miles. Best wearing tires I've had on my 2nd gen.
  13. I have the camera installed now but it is not completely wired up yet.Very stout frame and has LED lights that are intended to light things up when it is dark.Once I get it completley wired and comissioned then I will post a picture and an evaluation.
  14. This is the Hellwig I put on my 2nd gen truck. It replaced the OEM one that came with the truck. It had a larger diameter bar compared to the stock OEM.Noticed a nice difference over the stock one.The mounting goes forward under the truck rather than backward under the spare tire as on the 3rd gen truck.
  15. I carry a slide in camper and I always look for a dump station before I get home. I will take the route to get me by one before I get home.Once home there is no place to dump.
  16. I had the very same window problem on the drivers side that you are having.I replaced the switch and my problem was solved.Dodge dealer told me that the switch is a fairly common failure for the 2nd gens.Be sitting down when you check the price for the switch. After the sticker shock I found a good used one and put it in for $30 bucks. Been working for 4 years now.
  17. I got the Big wig for my '05 for $237 and the ride was included. Race-Mart. http://www.race-mart.com/Hellwig-HEW-7265.html
  18. Sounds to me like it could be the wheel bearing.I don't have the best hearing so when mine was going out on my 2nd gen my wife would ask me "what's taht noise"?One day I had a friend riding with me and everytime I made a turn he told me he could feel something vibrating on his feet (floorboard) telegraphing the noise. It was the passenger side wheel bearing. Had it changed and problem solved.
  19. I have hit 30-32pounds on my 2nd gen while I had my camper on and pulling a good steep grade.I usually am not at that pressure for a very long time because you really use the fuel. If it is a really long pull then I start to back off a little to try and keep the mpg in check.I have 227000 miles on it and have never had a head off.
  20. Finally got the Edge Camera installed today (all the wiring isn't completed yet). The frame that mounts around the license is very heavy duty. The camera moves up and down for adjusting the picture. It also has LED lights to light up the picture at night (low light).I had a plastic cover over my license plates to help keep them clean and the camera frame allowed me to continue to use the same setup.
  21. "How do I diagnose if its functioning properly? I read a little that if my brake pedal is spongy and/or takes more foot pressure to stop than usual, the unit can be going bad."If your brake pedal is spongy then you may have a master cylinder problem.I had to replace my master cylinder to cure my brake pedal issue.A master cylinder problem wouldn't necessarily have anything to do with an oil leak at the PS/Vac pump but could show up as an brake oil leak around the connection between the master cylinder and the hydro booster.
  22. I found oil on the blades of the compressor side of my turbo (on my 2nd gen) and thought there must be a seal going out.So I removed the turbo and installed a new one and no more oil leaks. I thought about just rebuilding the old one but I wanted to put in a different turbo so I just took that opportunity to do it.You might have the turbo checked because you are likely getting oil from the shaft seal/bearing area on the compressor side. You don't want oil in the intercooler because that will coat the cooling tubes and mess up the heat exchanger capability of the intercooler. And of course with an oil leak you are probably going to begin to compromise the turbo shaft and bearing, potentially mess up the balance of the blades because of the coating of oil and there maybe a host of other potential issues lurking in the bushes.
  23. Not sure how heavy a bumper you are looking for but I have a Warn Trans4mer winch bumper on my 2nd gen.I paid about $400 a few years back and don't know what it would cost today, but it is a very heavy bumper with brush guards for the lights and comes in black or chrome. It protrudes out front of the stock bumper. Easily made out of 1/4 plate. The price was way cheaper than some of the custom bumpers (that would handle a winch) that I looked at as potential options. It turned out to be a very practical application to add my winch.
  24. Ouch! I guess thats a good catch but probably going to be a little spendy.Did the phone come out better than the PC screen?May have to find something else to throw in the future.
  25. I have never pulled anything with this kind of extension before but I have ridden in a vehicle that had a slide in camper and was pulling a boat and he wasn't having any problem pulling the boat. Now I can't honestly tell you how long his extension was but it was out there at least 36 inches as I recall the point of reference I was looking at, at the time.According to the Torklift people if I have the tongue weight set up correctly there shouldn't be any problem. I certainly find out in the future when I hook up.
