47RE manual shift lever problem
Hopefully no need now. Decided to do a take apart and reassemble before my dentist appointment this morning and it cured my ills, I hope (no longer loose, but haven't shifted gears to make sure I didn't screw up something else!) Thanks for the offer, hopefully you didn't already check. No idea what the issue was, that bolt was tight. Maybe something stuck in the clamp I couldn't see.

What do you mean?
This afternoon I put on my 265/65/17s (30.7"). With my .69 overdrive, I should be around 72 MPH at 2,000. With the 265/70/17s I was around 74. Over 5% more aero drag for same engine speed. Side note, either I lost a lot of rubber off of the tires I took off, or the steel wheels are a lot heavier than the aluminum versions! Always figured they had to use more aluminum for the same strength (actually, even more stiffness so cast wheels wouldn't crack) so the steel wheels might be lighter. I think I was wrong.

47RE manual shift lever problem
Any chance someone with an automatic can try wiggling their selector like I did in the video, and let me know if it wiggles that much? Not many of these trucks in the Walmart parking lots around here....

47RE manual shift lever problem
Not that I can tell, but sure seems like it should be. It passed the "reach up there with my finger and see if it's wet with red fluid test", but I haven't got out a mirror for a visual.

47RE manual shift lever problem
Whoah, $38 apiece for bushings?!?!?! My expectation was off by a factor of about 10... I will certainly check them before ordering. Thanks, Me78569 #1 is all good, checked that again yesterday. Just seems like #10, 11 (second diagram) shouldn't have that much play, even if I completely removed the shift linkage.

Before switching to the draw straw I could hit 650 miles per tank pretty regularly without the fuel light coming on, but used all four gears, not just the first two.

Marvelous Where is the modern day Moses, what are his demands, and who is Pharaoh in this instance? I want the plagues to end!

My new 2006 Dodge Ram 3500
Yep. If I were getting into that I'd hit up BlueOx. Jag1s advice to price the job correctly seems spot on, too. Are you thinking 245/70/17? I purchased and mounted some 265/65/17s to get me down to 30.5", but haven't put them on the truck yet (bought some steel wheels for extras). They aren't a common tire size, so that could prove to be a poor choice. There's even some Cooper truck tires in 265/60/18 that will get you to 30.5"! https://www.walmart.com/ip/Cooper-discoverer-at3-LT265-60R18-119S-bsw-all-season-tire/254505162

Possible Game Changer for lighting our trucks $211
No, certainly not crazy. Mine grew to that after trying a "cheap" fix. The guts of that system was about half of what I needed to go full projector. If a guy already had clear housings, I think rhe D2S projectors I have can be put in for $350 plus the very easy work of modifying the housings. If anything is difficult about the install it's figuring out the best mounting location for the brain box - the harness could be 9" longer and make it a breeze to install!

COVID blues
It's not often that I'm the "rebel". Spent all spring (February to June 3rd) working 7 days per week in a meat packing plant (outside in the snow, not inside), no masks - mainly because sold out like toilet paper and reserved for healthcare workers. So bad there and Sioux Falls they shut the plants down, but that just meant they were all together at the liquor store and Wal-Mart! Somehow I didn't get it until early October, when we wore face panties all the time here in KC.

$211 on bulbs is not in my future I pretty much said the same about hundreds of dollars for projectors until I consistently was driving hundreds of miles per week through rural Iowa, at night, during the rut!

COVID blues
You know those airlocks one puts on a jug of fermentation to keep nasties out? I wonder if breathing through one of those would do the job... My wife and I have had the Wuhans, no doubt due to my travels. So has half of my office, and my mom and sister - my mom works in a pharmacy, so no real surprise there, I guess. No one I personally know has had it 'bad', but so far it's not been anyone with risk factors, either. I would certainly say it's worthwhile to avoid getting it, but having made it through the other side I'm glad I no longer have a statistically significant reason to worry about it infecting me anymore! Now I can worry for others.

I want to know how you even got to 400 miles per tank while only using first and second gear.

Thanks, Threadzy. I'll look around the forums for it. Nice to know something exists when looking for it!

47RE manual shift lever problem
It rather suddenly became obvious I have a gear selector issue, very sloppy trying to select a gear. Any suggestions? I looked in the Parts diagrams, looks like perhaps a retainer fell off? No leaks. Bolt "#21" in diagram is there and tight. Photo of internal shift portion from Moses Ludel writeup. Is it possible/likely that clip he shows is my problem? KVID0021.mp4

Possible Game Changer for lighting our trucks $211
Something happened to my D2S projectors and I no longer am able to use high beams. Of course I never think about it when I'm hanging out in the garage on a nice, only when I want to use them! So I have not diagnosed the issue at all other than I did install a new silver matchbox controller device for an unrelated problem. My turn signal stalk is fairly new (few years), so I must have a wiring/loose connection issue somewhere.

These would possibly be a silly choice for us with D2S projectors in snow country, but maybe down south they would make sense. https://www.morimotohid.com/morimoto-d2s-2stroke-led-bulbs?quantity=1

Yes, I love my D2S conversion. However, if these were available when I did mine, I'd likely have gone this route and carried some halogen bulbs if my luck ran out and I saw -40 any where other than a blast cooler in a pork plant. Even colder in the ice cream tunnels, but thankfully we don't go in there when in operation!

For those that don't have projector headlights, this looks like a fantastic option for LEDs. Even shoots the heat into the housing to melt snow and ice! https://www.morimotohid.com/morimoto-2-stroke-2stroke-h11-led-bulbs?quantity=1 Drat, wrong link. Here's the 9004/9007 version: https://www.morimotohid.com/morimoto-2stroke-2-stroke-9007-led-bulbs?quantity=1

Head Stud Install Question
Okay, so when a guy takes one bolt out is the stud (nut) torqued all the way?
-
Head Stud Install Question
I plan to install my new injectors soon and was wondering if that would be a good time to install head studs. Can a guy loosen all 26 bolts, then install the studs 'finger tight' one at a time without worrying about the head shifting or otherwise affecting the head gasket? Or, is it recommended to completely remove the cylinder head and install new gasket when installing studs?

The answer is not to give them more money.

DOT clearly has too much money, they don't need to raise fuel taxes. "In late 2016, the Department of Transportation gave San Diego a $1.04 billion grant to expand the city’s trolley service…by a whopping 10.9 miles. DOT estimates a total of 24,600 people might ride the trolley each day.”
