Recommendations for circulating some oil prior to first start up in over 2 years?
Pull the distributor and spin the oil pump with a drill and homemade tool. Oh wait... ?

Drawstraw Users - How low can you go?
I now carry 5 gallons of diesel, putting that fuel into the tractor every couple months to rotate stock. Doesn't solve bleeding injectors in the middle of an intersection (four lane, too - whoops), but would save running to the gas station.

Drawstraw Users - How low can you go?
Makes sense to me. My sender-mounted draw straw lets me "run out" of fuel with 7 gallons left in the tank if I go downhill, BUT during installation I cleaned all the gunk out of the sender basket and accidentally ripped that super fine screen off the bottom. If a new sender wasn't so expensive I'd be buying another, just for the screen!

I just did, too. I tried to give it five stars, but it won't allow me to rate the article, FYI.

And that right there is the useful information we all love about this site! Read and learned so much here I forgot there's an article about it.

Best batteries for our trucks
My guy was the same price as Everstart MAXX on size 27s at $120 apiece, Costco for Interstate was like $95 apiece. Considering that Exide makes a lot of Interstate batteries and they've been in and out of bankruptcy court (and Criminal Court!!!) NUMEROUS times in recent history, I decided to pay extra for a battery made in the US and sold by a guy with a long track record - and who stopped selling Interstate because of their reduction in quality. Honestly, based on what I know about the food processing industry I wouldn't be surprised if the same factory makes Snap-On wrenches and Harbor Freight, but clearly there are a lot of differences! Some distributors may want to sell the highest CCA, but to fit it in the same physical size they have to make the plates thinner or closer to one another so they shake apart when you smack a pot hole, or short out faster when the crud builds up between them. My Wal-Mart batteries actually seem to be okay, but since I'm not certain of it they're getting replaced (though put on the shelf with a maintainer). I'm often 400 miles from home and don't want that hassle. Also, there's got to be a reason my terminals are constantly corroded despite getting a BATH in motor oil! It may be the positive crossover cable, need to check that one of these days. Is that procedure to start truck, fire up all the electrical load I can, and measure voltage drop from one end to the other of the crossover cable?

Best batteries for our trucks
Normally Wal-Mart gets the nod for convenience, but I had time yesterday so supported the local automotive electrical place and bought some made in the USA DEKA batteries for the same price as Wally World. Any time I need a starter, generator, or alternator repaired I take it to Brad. My dad has used his shop since the 80's I believe, when he sent some things there from the Diesel program he taught at the vocational school. Also doesn't hurt that since they're practically neighbors he does free drop off and pick ups Well, it may cost a beer or two...

Transmission Issues
They used to build transmissions, maybe that's why. I, too, bought their trans pan. While spendy, it sure is pretty. Shame it's under the truck where no one can see it!

I believe those are the only - or at least representative - options. I do not know if your average commercial truck dealership/repair shop can also access that since ISB engines are common in those trucks, too.- All sorts of problems w/quad download
Wish I could help, but I'm clueless on this matter. I hope you get an answer as I find this mystery very interesting!- Best batteries for our trucks
Picked up two DEKA Gold, Group 65 batteries today. After an evening or two on the battery maintainer and desulfator, they will be installed. Hopefully in +7 years I'll have a very good update to give! They are sealed, as that's what was on the shelf. I didn't want to wait for Group 27 serviceable units. The abused Wal-Mart Everstart MAXX batteries were sluggish this morning, and it's only 32F. That simply won't due when I frequent the Iowa/Minnesota border with regularity!- 24 valve reman pump issues
Good information to have.- 24 valve reman pump issues
Seems logical to me, that's a good question Tractorman.- Tuner, turbo, injectors?
Wow, you've been busy! All looks great.- 7x.009 or 8x.0085?
I'm still trying to find a used/cheap compressor side snap ring. Also, one or two broken bolts need to be addressed. I snapped one on the down pipe flange, not sure if there's another.- 7x.009 or 8x.0085?
Well that's the thing, both options are DAP! Just the 7-hole SAC are 12% higher than the 8-hole VCO. So if the 8 VCO are cheaper than 7s, does that factor in? SACs are generally quieter at idle, right? This beast is loud enough that will weigh heavily in my decision!- 7x.009 or 8x.0085?
I've searched around and failed to find a thread comparing the two subject injectors (or similar). Both are listed as 100 HP injectors, which interests me a great deal. With an unknown auto transmission (I have done the Moses Ludel recommended in-frame upgrades for solenoids, servos, pistons, etc) and - for now - HY35 turbo I don't see the need to spend the extra $85 for 7x.010s. The true benefit I see to that size is that so many of you fellows with Quadzillas run them. Some of my trips are very long, some if my trips are very short - is there a benefit to smaller, but a larger number of holes? I only have 18k pound license plates, so heavy towing isn't really a concern to me (see comment about transmission, above). I don't see any DAP 8-hole SAC injectors, should SAP vs. VCO factor into my decision?- Quick trailer wiring question
They must be, I hooked into a trailer last week that has backup lights and they lit up.- Quadzilla and new 7x9s
Driving on some terrible roads last week, I about set my Quad to Level 1. I could barely keep my foot still enough to not go 0-100% once per second!- All sorts of problems w/quad download

I bought a Blue Sea unit and it is attached to the passenger battery tray. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0051OWRHE?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title- All sorts of problems w/quad download
@dieseldonit's nothing fancy, but here is what I installed, with part numbers!- All sorts of problems w/quad download
If your Chinese pressure relief actually blows off at 14 PSI, then your 16 PSI of fuel coming up the fuel line should push the air out of the pressure relief valve. That bleed hole is critical for those whose pumps don't always put out enough pressure to open the relief. For example, stock lift pumps and sometimes my frame mounted DDRP - though not since I installed a much bigger, frame mounted spin-on 140 micro screen instead of the little inline style. I'm surprised more guys/gals have not messed around with changing that relief valve to something fancier. We screw around with EVERYTHING else on the truck, but not that - why? Surely Holley (etc.) makes an aftermarket unit that would do the same thing but better (more accurate, more stable, rebuildable, Chrome Plated, yada yada yada). Alternatively, installed a solenoid or 4-20mA motorized valve that would be operated off of fuel temperature in the injection pump.- 2001 Auto Upgrade Plans - Turbo, Injectors, Quadzilla, Gauges
