I'm done with NAPA over a failing alternator, and TC lockup issues.
Yeah, that sounds like moderate occasional pedal actuator position error... Not alternator related.

Fuel lubricity
It isn't about the environment, it hasn't been since the 70s... If it was event then! It is about growing control, money and power for the Agency.

After reading about this and not being near my old starter/alternator shop, I bought a mechman. I am putting an article together on it. Works good sofar.

Tepee Fire
Wild land firefighting is under appreciated. Three fire fighters died this month in WA and others have been hurt. Being burned to death is a rough way to go. I believe they were 20, 25, and 31 years old.

Looking to buy 2002 2500 opinions needed (pics inside)
One note. ALWAYS change radiator fluid. If a vehicle is that rusty, I would be concerned about the coolant system as well. If it hasn't been kept up with flushes and changes every 40k or so, I would also budget for a new radiator and possibly pump/heater core. Poor coolant and its associated corrosion is also hard on headgaskets... and everything else..

Good luck. I'd budget for a lift pump and FP gauge at minimum.

stacking chips?
I've never used the Otto Mind, nor known anyone who has. The basic rule of programmers and chips is that you can't stack timing. You can stack fueling. For a daily driver and occasional fun, I love the smarty and TST powermax stack. The smarty can do fuel and/or timing. The TST just does fuel. Edge doesn't make the comp any longer, but they do make the juice and CTS modules. You can find good deals on used comps though. Edge wiretap boxes (comp, juice adrenalin/cts/ct) do fueling and timing. They are good products, I've ran all of them. If you do two timing boxes at the same time, you will lose performance and probably break something. For fuel only, you could add a smarty or TST Powermax to your ottomind. Smarty won't be adjustable on the fly, but the TST would.

In addition to the below comments and thread, what do you want? What are you looking to do with the truck? Here is a good thread to read through. It is an auto truck and not all applicable, but there is some good info in there about the fuel system. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/10164-order-of-reliability-improvementsover-heating/ Here is MoparMan's quip The whole fuel system weakness is the VP44 at the center. Basically there is 4 ways of killing a VP44... Fuel lubricity - Bosch states in there own testing that all fuels should be at <450 HFRR but US fuels are about 520 HFRR. Fuel pressure - Dodge FSM states a minimum of 10 PSI. Unoffically we state a minimum of 14 but no higher than 20 PSI. This is to hold the overflow valve open. Fuel filtration - Extra filters or better filtration is always better for life span of parts. Power - Yes even the VP44 is sensitive to AC noise as well and should be less than 0.1 AC Volt measured at the BATT post on the alternator.

Off grid power systems
Mopar man has the right idea. Buying a piece of property with a suitable hydraulic head, flow, and storage is the ticket. "off the grid" isn't for everybody.

Good luck mike! Prayin for you! I wish I could send some MAFFS up!

Tepee Fire
Best of luck, Mike. That is RIGHT by your house. Is your home in the path of the fire at all? Wild land fires suck. My buddies are out fighting fires in Cali at the moment as well.

The air tanker assets are near tapped out too.

What would you look for?
The old aircraft engines required the silk thread properly applied between the case halves. They still leak eventually. They have finally gotten a fix for the 1930s technology engined that are still standard in aircraft, LyCon mills an o ring groove into the case.

Regarding Toyota 4runners and tacos. I'd buy 04 aND later. The new designs are well worth the cash.

What would you look for?
Honestly, I have had great luck with Toyota 4x4s. 4Runners and Tacomas have run, and run, and run. Far more reliable than my Cummins. Zero maintenance outside of Tires, oil, filters and batteries. I think you have to look at the vehicles purpose. What loads? How far? How many people? Etc. Then, you have to look at budget to include realistic costs of ownership. If you are going to tow heavy and often, probably should look at a used common rail. If I just wanted a SUV/Commuter, I would get a 4runner, Rav4, or Tacoma. If I wanted a full size, but minimal towing, I would look at the 4th gen Rams with hemis and the Tundras. I would also... mabe... look at GM. For a car? Heck, just pick a Camry or Honda that you really like with lower miles and good maintenance. Wild N Free likes the rough stuff... wait... he likes the TDI VWs, but the magic man can do things like a DPF delete in his Free State of North Dakota. I can't in Colorado even though the EPA can dump millions of gallons of toxic waste in the water supply of the American Southwest and get off scot free.

Depends on the wear pattern. It may not need much, if any.

No idea what the 2u is. Was it a factory unit or did Bubba get into it at some point?

Killer. Neat trip. I love that area. That shaft is for a hammer mill. Each prong would lift a big vertical hammer and drop our to crush ore.
