  1. Is your boost gauge tapped pretty or post intercooler?
  2. You don't find body men like that anymore.
  3. Another note that is commonly missed. An alternator may read within spec at idle, but be out at RPM. Either use the Max function on your meter or have a friend (I have no friends) sit inside and slowly rev up (I went to 2800ish) and then back down to idle. Other factors can be temperature and load. When it is super hot out and you're asking the alternator to power lights, ac, radio, inverter, etc. it will get WAY hotter than normal. If you have a lousy ground, or a a bad lead going to the battery (the factory one is quite small for trucks with extra electrical demands) you can also build extra heat in the alternator.
  4. I can't think of anything. I wouldn't throw anything out until you get it all swapped. I would also definitely change the intake gasket while you're in there if you have the barrel type intake.
  5. Unfortunately, no. The rule is that you can stack fuel, but you don't want to stack timing. Finding out what some of the more obscure chips do is hard sometimes.
  6. Yeah, I am there too. Trans, turbo, huge number of programmers, etc. I've got the truck almost where I want it mechanically and interior setup. The only other mechanical mods I want is cam, replace the u joints, drive shaft to one piece, and I have a borgeson box on backorder.
  7. I am thinking that means the aftermarket ones are "good enough."
  8. There is no blowby at idle. It may have some under load, but I can't really measure that. I pulled the valve cover and some of the valve seals are split. I couldn't see any on the intake side that were bad, but I found at least one that was broken on the exhaust side.
  9. With a blown intercooler no less.
  10. Aint that the truth. But, aside from the lack of 4 doors, I still really enjoy the truck.
  11. Similar thread. http://forum.mopar1973man.com/index.php?/topic/10026-code-p0122-tps/ Reference. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/26-engine-systems/39-timbos-apps-installing http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/59-obdii-error-codes-cummins/151-p0122-apps-sensor-signal-voltage-too-low In my experience, its time for a new APPS.
  12. You're right. That was a dumb question.
  13. Did you use a code reader or did you read the code in the odometer window?
  14. You are fortunate to have a manual, if you are looking for reliability. As long as the trans is maintained and not abused the only real parts that need replaced is the clutch. That is sad. The 12V was a classic. I often wish I had bought a used 12V instead of my first 2000 24V. A 12V manual and a 05-7 auto would be a perfect stable.
  15. Honestly, the trucks are good. They are old trucks and need the maintenance any old truck needs. Lately it seems like alternators are killing more trucks than anything else. Other than that there really is one BIG glaring mistake Cummins made, the lift pump. Once that is remedied, they are pretty solid.
  16. I dream of exotic things like this. Unfortunately the money has yet to be consistent enough when I have time available to make it worthwhile. Now, if you have a $250 car though, it is a real possibility!
  17. When you get done collecting data, mabe you can summarize it all in a post, and we can make it into an article!
  18. Up at the upper right hand corner of the screen there is your username... catnhat. Click on that. Go to My Settings. On that screen, click on Signature. Fill out the signature and hit save. 3? nice! mabe you can teach us some stuff! There aren't a ton of "experts" here, just a lot of regular guys who have spent years fiddling.
  19. If you want do help yourself out, and mabe be involved a bit more here to learn more about your truck and how to run it, you can fill out your signature with the truck, year, mods, etc. It would help with the troubleshooting etc. Also, if you like what you see here, the site isn't free and any donations are welcome. Not to say you aren't welcome as a free member, but it it just a thought.
  20. It is a disposable car to me, but it won't die. It was my wife's car when we got married 5 years ago. It is a good little car though, gets good mileage... ~35mpg. The only issue it has is a sketchy wheel bearing and an inoperative cruise control. I feel like a hobo though when I show up to work, haha! But, that is normal.
  21. Typically, they want a core of the same one you buy. However, a SO pump is better than a HO pump if you are going to do any hot rodding or tunes for increased mileage/performance. The SO has bigger plungers than the HO.
  22. Haha. Nein. I have a 96 Saturn now.
  23. If I were in Colorado I'd be tempted. I may need an airport commuter car. Not now though. Heck, with house prices on the front range, I may be living in a camper somewhere! It's gotten nuts!
