- Fixing oxidized headlights for cheap...
I might give this a shot for my fog lights. They are looking kinda like they are 13 years old.- Want to kill 5min, or an hour? XKCD link
this site, is a site for nerds. Tfaoro can check my validity on that. Use your arrow keys and hover away from the box. You might find some odd stuff. http://xkcd.com/1608/- Fuel pressure drop?
Mostly, but it also happens once in a while while I am driving around. Starts out at 10psi and then slowwwwwlllly gets up to 14 with occasional drops down to 12, then it stabilizes for the rest of the drive at 15. I need to do some testing on it once the draw straw is in. I want to compare cavitation sounds vs load vs pressure etc.- He351ve stand alone Arduino controller code for 2nd Gen Cummins
Nick, it is kinda funny, but this project you and cowboy have done is pretty good. I've seen engineering studs put together far worse and get high marks on it. All it would need is some theory and boom, you're an engineer!- Broken Flex plate?
Look at the big brain on Brad! Very clever.- 98-99 HD steering upgrade
Looks great Ken! if you would like to see your work here become semi-permanent, you could put a basic article together on it when you get it all done. We would be happy to publish it.- Fuel pressure drop?
It could be several things then. My list if the draw straw doesn't fix my problem is as follows. -Check the return spring and flow passages in the filter & pump housing for debris that could be blocking something open -Call fass and see about a rebuilt motor/pump, as mine is an OLD Fass. -Check the condition of my lines internally at the connections... For air leaks or I am thinking that perhaps there is a restriction or some deterioration of the lining of the fuel line itself. -Check gauge against another. However, regardless of its calibration, I am still losing 4-5 psi once in a while and most initial startups.- One Piece Driveshaft from driveshaftspecialist.com/
Anybody else run one of these? So, my two piece driveshaft has been squeaking a lot lately and after pricing out all the bushing, U joints, and then considering that I don't have access to a press, I decided to go one piece. The end cost was about 400 additional for the one piece, and it came with U joints. neato. I haven't driven it yet, but it looks nice. I know I probably could have done it cheaper, but oh well. Hopefully it runs smoothly. On a related note, finding the correct 241DHD tailshaft seal was a major difficulty. RockAuto sent me the wrong part. Autozone drove me all across the city (1 hr of driving to store to store) chasing the wrong part. Finally, after googling it and finding the right part number, Oreilly had one in the town I am living in. NAT 710771 for nearly $50! The seal shrunk in shipping... its a swell to fit seal right?- Rough Start This Morning
Very considerate. I am sure there are a few of my neighbors that dislike my truck in the early 4am departures... but I outrank all of them. I try to be nice though and not idle around at the house.- Fuel pressure drop?
I have seen similar lately with my FASS HD 150. I am thinking it may be due to crud in the tank... I am putting a draw straw in. The rest is 3/8ths line with push lock fittings to the pump. On my truck, I don't think the pressure drop is a flow restriction in the downstream side, as it never had a problem holding pressure in the past. However, lately i've been getting some cavitation in the pump if the tank isn't full. So I am thinking it's upstream (suction) related.- Super B Update
I think the seat of the pants feel you are looking for needs a smarty. Especially with your trans, the 100hp injectors, and the new (and great) turbo. Not a HULK SMASH top end tuner, but it will give the turbo the fuel to spin up quickly with or without smoke, and give you that off the line push. I love my smarty.- Super B Update

I had my truck on a lift today and was looking at the right rear shock... The plastic was melted. Quite a surprise. I think it happened towing this last summer. Lots of time droning at 1100 EGT with 100F ambient temps. Although, it could have happened when my exhaust dropped off of an exhaust hanger for a couple weeks before I noticed. It might have touched. As much as I hate to admit it, but does this actually make a decent argument for stacks?- 98-99 HD steering upgrade
All this talk about Moog ball joints going bad makes me sad. I just put in four of them this past spring.- My fellow wood burners!
Fantastic. I want to camp with you. My camping is usually a minimalist affair that closely resembles A Fine and Pleasant Misery. However, my wife claims that camping should be done to her standards, which resemble some sort of solid structure, hot food, and entertainment in a mostly bug free environment. Also, this so called "bed of coals" you speak of... I've never seen one before. Typically, I've only cooked over what we call The Smudge or The Inferno. But, then again, the last true camping I did was done at work, and consisted of a very rough week of backpacking a U.S. Issue ruck that eventually took on a striking resemblance to Mike's steel stove. After returning from that, I tried to convince my wife that ants, are in fact quite beyond edible, but also good to eat! She still hasn't tried them... I think we may have some trust issues.- My fellow wood burners!
