  1. Same knock warm and cold? Does it change when loaded or does it just knock all the time?
  2. Haha. I almost bought that. Did you get the valve cover too?
  3. Not the cheapest option, but here is a sport headlight install. http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd-generation-24v-dodge-cummins/31-exterior/489-csm?hitcount=0
  4. Another VP die?
  5. Wow, Bill! You don't look the same as a couple years ago. I am impressed.
  6. And to do that you need owners. They are too busy 1) working to pay it off or 2) having fun not wrenching!
  7. This makes me sad. My 2nd gen would have been pretty snappy even 5 years ago, but now... it is still fast, but not "that" fast. It has been fun to mess with though.
  8. The place to start, imo, is a database like the old dodgeram dot info site and a few dedicated owners who want to start nerding out. The new stuff won't get the love the old trucks did due to the lack of easy performance mods. The quality reference materials is what brought me here. The trouble code writeups, the essential campaign fuel system and later air dog install M73M did for example. I kinda expect the new tricks to be pretty darn reliable also, being a Toyota product, similar to VW.
  9. This makes me want to build a 0.1VAC light bulb and put it on my dash.
  10. I would like to find a gauge like the below for my truck and play with it... If for nothing else but the fun factor. http://www.hewittindustries.com/pressure_gauges_boost_dual.html
  11. The intermittent nature may be a ground or connector. Hard to say.
  12. Pressure tap for a gauge to measure drive pressure. The copper dissapates the heat. Most common on twin turbos or something special.
  13. There will be days you will think, as soon as I got it back together that last time... I should have put it on eBay! But, it will be worth it. You gained a lot of experience through this project that will help you professionally as well. Not many guys in your line of work who can get their hands dirty with any machine.
  14. That's good! Beats no work!
  15. Congrats all!
  16. Man, that sucks. I once rear ended the MINES Registrar and destroyed the rear hatch of her Subaru... It was while I was a student there. Thankfully, she didn't try to destroy my academic life. The good news is, that those are all easily replaced. You didn't hit your cab or your door. You just have to rehang a new junk yard fender. Hoods, fenders, and bumpers are easy to paint. Hopefully you still have a pint or so to do touchup. I think my dad has a new bumper in the barn if you need one.
  17. I had to buy crossover tube O rings from him.
  18. I haven't done it, but I agree with the bold. All the shops I've worked with said that converters were cleanable, but it would require cutting the converter open to make sure it was "clean" and at that point, I might as well just cut it or replace it to get the stall I want anyway. What are they doing? Just flushing on some sort of machine?
  19. Vais speaks truth. If you do reuse parts, make sure there aren't any grit or any material in the converter. You can't clean them if they have crap in them.
  20. I had a lot of miles on mine, 197,000 but once I slipped it a couple times it was never the same again. Once it got burned, it was toast.
  21. This is true. I drive stuff pretty hard. Usually the edge of smoke.
  22. How are your temps and boost now? Do you max out the EGTs at present? If not, there really isnt a reason for an upgrade.
  23. The edge can kill your clutch unless you are careful. I had a Juice w Attitude on my 5sp, and it lived about 10,000 mi running the juice on 3. I smoked it and went southbend Con-OFE with new hydraulics and it never slipped again.
