  1. I would give Cummins or CPP a call and check prices.
  2. I saw that the other day. Pretty interesting. You can kind of see that the flame front moves from the plug, across the chamber and the effects of the varied mixture across the chamber. There are some other videos like this on youtube that are full engineering test engines that have glass cylinders as well. I would love to see something like a small camera that I could put in a chamber and evaluate chamber design across different RPMs, loads, look at quench, etc.
  3. Perhaps something in the switch you use inside?
  4. Mabe not that bad. We had visibility of 10 ft or so. Most of us were in vans or cabbed up as long as the equipment ran. We had fuel, sand, water, and grub. The hot oilers were the concern as they were nearly out of propane after a couple days. I just wish i wasnt salary on those jobbs.
  5. I miss working in weather like that up there. It was fun.
  6. I have labs. However, there is a mushers cream or whatnot that helps keep their pads flexible. In winter, just like your hands, they can get cracked. It is hillarious to watch our dog after he gets his feet lubed. Just awkward shame! Aside from that, I don't usually have a problem. None of my dogs have ever liked booties.
  7. Stock valve springs? When you pull the head i would look for any piston to valve contact.
  8. I run the same sport style. I love them.
  9. At this point, i think you have a joint of some sort that has wallowed out its hole and slips.
  10. I hate idiot drone owners as well, but it doesn't sound like he is going to be irresponsible... All line of sight and so on. As long as it is line of sight it isn't any different than an old school RC plane. Congrats on the gift mike!
  11. I wish our base had diesel. Gas only everywhere i have been stationed.
  12. Interesting. I have not seen a 3rd gen with this problem! Mine is cranky like this on occasion. This helped my 2nd Gen. http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/page04.html 1 Clean battery terminals and body grounds 2 Clean ground strap at PCM located at passengers side firewall. 3 Remove and inspect the middle plug on PCM, this is the plug that contains transmission control wires.Clean with contact cleaner. 4 Remove, inspect and clean 8 wire plug located on drivers side of transmission 5 Remove, inspect and clean speed sensor plug located at tail housing of transmission, replace sensor if needed. It is an inexpensive sensor.
  13. Got on the abs a bit heavy. Now it moans a lot but works ok. I think i blew a seal somewhere and it is near max pressure at the pump. My 2000 did this, but it wasnt this bad. It would boil the fluid in the summer.
  14. If you have winter blend fuel, you should be good to go. I try to keep a spare set of filters in the truck for emergencies... though this would mainly be used to get to a parking lot, parts store, or hotel. In my experience, even if fuel gels, as long as it warms up without being filtered or stratified it will turn back into normal diesel.
  15. Hard to say. I am about to rebuild my hydroboost... once i learn more about it I may have more thought. Your bypass could also have been stuck open, and as it cooled, it closed. More viscous fluid in a cold motor also helps.
  16. A new sending unit is an easy install
  17. You are on the right track. If its too aft, it will tend to fishtail. It still may, and if so, slow down. 300lbs is not much, but the trailer sounds like one of those harbor freight style trailers. For light loads i just get it balanced then about 10 to 20 percent forward. You want to keep the tongue weight within spec for the trailer, ball, and hitch, but aside from that more forward on a single axle wont hurt you.
  18. I wouldn't worry much.
  19. Unlikely, but possible. Usually if the fuel doesnt have enough heat to fully burn, it will turn white. If it doesnt have enough oxygen, it will turn black. The lack of heat can be poor droplet size, bad compression, not enough grid heat, or just a really cold day. You also have humidity... which i am not used too. As the truck warms up it will push the water out that condenses jn the exhaust from the last cycle. If the truck runs well, is just run it.
  20. Depends on what the smoke smells like. Unburned diesel can make a white fuel mist. Mine does this at 7000 ft and 0 F. Generally, it isnt a big deal but could mean the injection system is getting worn. Coolant is also a concern and more pressing.
  21. When I look at the crankcase breather on my 1960 Chrysler, it makes me smile. It is a steel tube that vents directly under the car, like our 2nd Gen Cummins trucks. I don't smile at the pollution, which the Chrysler does make, but that there was once a time where sanity reigned and we took sane steps towards the environment. I don't like pollution any more than anyone else, but the folks advocating for the banning of diesel are for an eventual persuit of human extinction on the satanic altar of "the environment."
  22. @dripley Before you buy the new joints... price out a one piece. I was away from my tools and decided it was worth the extra cash to order a bolt on one piece. Had i been home, i might have rebuilt it, but it was worth it at the time.
