  1. My experience with having a frame squared up and straightened by the pros is not good. I would find another second gen Cummins and use your wrecked truck for parts. Thats not to say its the best way, its the way I would probably do it and not have much down time.
  2. Oh he'd love that.
  3. Is it possible to get a better quality rope and adapt it to the Honda? MoparMan like this when time to mow and shreds plastic Ford badges. They shoot all over the place.
  4. Be sure and report on the before and after AC noise levels when you do the W-T grounding mods if you can. Thank you.
  5. They are both 90 GPH 30 micron. My fuel pressure problem came from the new style regulator on the latest Raptor lift pumps. Thanks to Mopar1973Man, He suggested turning the new lift pump regulator up to 30 and then down to 7 then back to normal 19 or 20 at idle. That solved the erratic fuel pressure problem I kept having.
  6. I run the racor brand with the see thru bowl on both trucks. I like them because they are designed for the suction side and I designed a skid/ protection plate that swings out of the way when servicing the filter. The clear bowl has helped a few times. I used to have the self priming bulb on one of them but found air was building up in the rubber bulb you pump for priming so I went to a standard filter base.
  7. SFH Does that mean 'Swing Freakin' Hard'? I think I could do it next time Get the caps out first with a chisel used as a wedge to pry out right? I've never even done a drive shaft u-joint.
  8. Did you do the axle u joints yourself? Do you have a press?
  9. Oops, your right mine has the metal clips. The new bolt has a hook. Shesh, talk about ol'timers disease.
  10. Run some oil down the battery hold down bolts also because the hook at the bottom gets eaten away if you don't. This happened before W-T mods.
  11. Thanks for taking the moment to explain that. Your oil trick on the battery terminals works great for me too. I was always cleaning those things about twice a year or more.
  12. I do not know a lot about this, but I believe leaving the lift pump hooked to the battery is a little better because W-T says our lift pump motors also toss a lot of ac noise into the system. Now we talked a lot about this stuff over the phone, but never talked about this specific connection, only how the lift pump motor housing should be grounded etc. On edit; I'm wondering also if a failing L/P motor can place undo load on the PDC in any way. We just saw a thread about a burnt PDC
  13. I carry a small tarp so I can slide under the truck easily, a spare lift pump which I needed to change 35 miles from home only once so far, a better bottle jack than the factory, a torque wrench for checking wheel torque on aluminum wheels. Cash for more versatility, and a new idler pulley and belt with the tools to change it out. Last, but not Least, Mopar1973Man's phone number. Mopar1973Man, a couple flares be good on that mtn road you drive.... comin around the curve on snow they may not see you on time boss.
  14. Mopar1973Man, could your creek water have contributed too the leak you had in rear portion of your head gasket?
  15. One advantage I see with AGM's is there faster charge acceptance rate and it is my understanding that longer charge time with wet cells means they also have larger storage capacity. So I think AGM's have their place when its often difficult to give batteries a full topped off state of charge.
  16. I like Genos Garage because when I had a part problem they were so very willing to get it straightened out and in a hurry to do so. BTW, I found it very easy to fill the outer holes of the oil filter by tilting it a little it inside a cardboard box, setting things around it so it won't slide and dump out the oil. Another way is using the bench vise, but haven't tried that yet By tilting it flows thru more outer holes and won't run to the center hole.
  17. That ain't CHICKEN feed neither.
  18. We are empty nesters. Raised three daughters that are all doing very good. I'd do it again too, but it's got to be a lot harder to do these days. Sheesh, just like the home we built.... I don't think we could afford it the way things are now. In 96 building permits for everything was 3500 bucks now they are between 9 and 13 grand for same situation. More in place restrictions too. Seems like everything is getting like that.... just more difficulty DieselFuture loosing your hearing when old helps a lot man.
  19. It is strange when life has gone along as expected for years and then this split second lane change...with a top heavy camper... dang thing took a court order to get it back in the right lane and off the side of the road. Truck only has 99,000 on it but I overheated the brakes with that weight and probably cooked the bearing grease too.
  20. Good discussion. If it wasn't for notification of Bullet's quoting me, I wouldn't have known this thread came back alive. So tempting to get the hubs, at least on the truck that hauls heavy. If that drivers side had failed on the two lane mountain highway which I had just gotten off only an hour earlier, it could have been a disaster. As it was I was on the freeway hauling my camper when it threw me into the fast lane. Thankfully no one was near. It was late at night. My old 1st gen had the hubs of course and I was hard on that truck only packing the hubs once in 20.5 years. Used as a work truck everyday. I'll never forget the long stretches, even years, when she never asking for anything except the usual battery or brakes. I think hubs would be a step in the right direction. I think DieselFuture takes his girlfriends on dates to wrecking yards and auto parts stores
  21. Talking about which batteries can be like talking about which is the best beer. So many opinions and options. My vote is for those requiring maintenance and distilled water. They go ten yrs if properly taken care of when they are paralleled and less likely to get drained down. I like the abilty to replenish the electrolyte after de sulfation phase.
  22. I wish there was a way to reduce the amperage demands from the grid heater. I don't know enough on how to do something like that. I've heard about potentiometers? Things like that.
  23. Thank you for the pictures and information. It's good you got in there and cleaned it up. Most guys don't want the lift pump inside the tank and have modified to an after market lift pump outside the tank. I had an in tank factory lift pump like yours and found the screen about 50% clogged as well. I now have mine set up for the dirt to get trapped in a large primary filter outside the tank and all factory screens have been removed. this way the filter gets changed easily enough and if the lift pump goes soft I can change it too.
  24. Major Blinker fluid shortages this year..... too many folks in the United States are staring at the Mopar1973Man forum.
  25. Elk hunted me down when I stared too long at a female. Was in the Canadian Rockies and he was huge. He stopped running me down when I fell over a small stump.
