  1. Thank you everyone.... some good tips. The computer can tell me where some good camp spots are along with others input from reviews. A GPS can tell me Lat/ Long to keep track of good stays and where National forest boundaries are. Does Google maps give Lat/ Lon? Never have seen that info on there but, never tried either?
  2. That is a great way to go having input from others on camping spots. I still like paper maps too as I've seen GPS users come up a dead end road only to find out it does not go thru like shown. Can't be trusted completely I guess. But I love my flip phone
  3. I like to go down the less traveled roads/ places where time seems not to matter. Most of all I love mountain back roads and love to camp in national forest, hidden away places. Is there a GPS that will give me a decided advantage for this type of traveling?
  4. that was cool. Thank you.
  5. I think you are right since it's gotten worse in recent long runs.
  6. Okay, how much for it? Mine was the first one Eric ever did. He was trying to do some of the design when he put mine in, but got cut about an inch short so I added a piece of rubber hose to get nearer the bottom of the tank. Eric has helped a lot and always will recommend him. Got my new VP from him.
  7. Yes Mike, when I get out your way again I'll have less than a half tank and let you drive my truck, if you can stand the automatic, you'll hear the cavitation and see the sudden F/P drop on the gauge.
  8. Yes Transfer- Flow, Thanks BBHD. 015point9, again thank you for the great detailed information. You wrote a long post to make sure I understood, but, most important of all....... you say your wife is getting better. Wow! That is great. I repaired an entry door for a friend of a friend. He came down stairs to thank me but, two weeks later he was gone from the same thing.. Prayers from Oregon for your sweetie point9. Merry Christmas to her and you. BTW, after reading your above post I don't think I will be doing the tank sump. I like the crossover tubes idea. I'm assuming they give the fuel time to gain momentum of flow before going straight uphill like a verticle draw straw. Is that right?
  9. 015pointnine, thank you for that information. Certainly some things to think about. After you had the sump installed, did you notice any increase in fuel pressure or any less drop in pressures at WOT? Driply, I found some information from the company that makes transfer tanks and they said several regulations from several gov't agencies come into play making some things apply only to big rigs, others to all vehicles. It ends up that one thing is certain that all vehicles must draw from the top of the tank, but, it's worded in such a way saying that no vehicle can be gravity fed. So I don't know if this applies since we still need a lift pump to push fuel up to the VP. Dang.... I wish I could remember the name of the company, I hear it all the time since it is so popular. The info is on their website since they've done research on the regulations. Is it Transfer Tank Co.? dang memory Beer always helps a lot
  10. .It's 35 degrees in Oregon. Been burning thru the wood a bit. May get snow Monday or Tuesday. I hope you have a good Christmas too and everyone.
  11. I plan on putting a bent upwards skid plate under it. I have a simple way of doing that.
  12. Thinking of installing the FASS tank Sump as I'm getting some minor fuel cavitation below half tanks of fuel. I hear fuel pressure drops are not as dramatic when hauling heavy up hills and the lift pumps running quieter. I already have all the fuel system mods except for the tank sump but I have one concern.... I read some discussion that it is illegal to draw fuel from the bottom of the tank in some states. Anyone know about this? Also wondering if anyone heard of leaks from any tank sump installs. Merry Christmas to everyone
  13. Too bad... An HOA would love that sort of thing
  14. I wonder.... is that supposed to be his nose?
  15. I hear that. I thought I knew how to drive until I had to drive thru California traffic once
  16. Royal Squire thank you for the heads up. I didn't know I was confusing the two. I thought there were only one type.... the quick disconnects. I need a good....
  17. Yes too small of fuel lines will help cook the VP. It would be like sitting on a hot day trying to drink your milkshake thru a WD-40 spray straw. Lol All kidding aside, a sure sign of needing the 1/2 inch line kit is the fuel pressure dropping below 14. With hauling heavy going up hills makes it nessesary. Call Vulcan Performance, Eric is a great guy to deal with. 1 Qt. of two stroke in every tank helps turn the fuel back to fuel oil. What the VP was designed for.
  18. You need to fill up the factory filter first then should only have to loosen a couple injectors and crank till it starts. It will run rough but keep it running till you close the two you cracked open.
  19. Michael, we all want to know how MoparMom is doing. And there you go talking about the snow again
  20. Leave up to a California guy to contradict.. Push locks male and female junction wears out. May not be enough to see fuel leaking but will suck in Air. Eric doesn't like them ... plenty calls to his business about them he says.
  21. Eric at Vulcan does not recommend using any push locks because he has seen to many leaks. He likes to see barbed fittings with hose clamps. What's bad is they wear from vibration and let air in when fuel is under suction. I still have a set new in the box and they just sit there.
  22. We are al right here. We've just had some real winter weather with snow and ice for about a week. It was missed after 3 years of having no winters. Temps are going up and starting to rain now. My trucks are running good... mostly had to work on the rv this year. With new burner on the furnace. Pulled the burner on the fridge and cleaned. New electric jacks circuit board. And rebuilt the 2X2 escape hatch with aluminum, no more cracks from plastic hatch sitting in the sun. I learned a lot. Hammer, hope you get some snow this winter down there.
  23. I've known problems like this where you start jumping into all sorts of different solutions cause all you want is to help the guy ....I know Then on my truck I'll be thinking all sorts of things trying everything to fix it.
  24. Katoom, you haven't met my wife. I'm just a slave around here. .
  25. The rough running is only at idle Katoom. I think like Dripley said something is causing an electrical load drawing down voltages across some of the sensors causing a rough running idle. All I can do is cast my vote is all on this one. Make sure tho that your lift pump runs off the batteries. If the excessive load is caused by the lift pump, happens from time to time, you wont be slowly burning up the ECM.
