Weekend Help
Finally getting the rest I need after the biggest 6 mo. long problem job ever done in 34 years of contracting. It was unbelievably tough. Now I got weekend help around here helping me clean up after 6 mos. of grab and go drop off and go stuff laying around. So nice to get a long awaited rest, heal up and have a good buddy around to help out. Having fun finally.

No high pressure at vp when cold unless hotwired
Eric at Vulcan does the right deal as far as I'm concerned. I bought his reman VP. When I called the company sticker on the box (I think Industrial Injection) they said no reman pump goes out the door without a new PSG and I think it's called the updated steel sleeve to the timing advance piston. I did not have the core out of my truck at the time because I wanted to see how long I could go on 2 stroke with the 0216 error code. It took about 4 yrs, several 1400 mile trips each year driving back and forth to Nevada/ Oregon (plenty 2 stroke in ea tank) with the Vulcan reman behind the seat before I got my first hard start. It was the original VP w/ about 80 k miles on it.

Yes basically Dodges engineering for he fuel system is a poor design and anything you do will be an improvement if your goal is to increase flow. It is hard for me to believe that they think profits will increase by building in things that cost us truck owners. Take for example their idea of placing the lift pump inside the tank that is one of the most problematic locations they could ever think of when your 1,000 miles from home. Also look at their design of getting inside the fuel module..... why couldn't they put a fuel module access plate inside the bed of the truck and not do a build where the bed frame runs directly over the top? Just think about having that option alone.... I bet a lot of Ford guys would make the plunge over to Dodge. If they could think about and do things like that are designed for the owner, they'd be the talk of the town.

There is nothing like meeting good folks and the experience happens in such a way that you know God had it in his plan. I think this sight actually magnetizes folks with the same heart felt sincerity.

I'm 1/2'' all the way including the 1/2'' draw straw. Anything to help flow is good but getting rid of all the banjo bolts is the biggest benefit. Vulcan kit has longer sweep 90 degree going into the VP instead of a hard 90 which helps reduce cavitation and increases flow. My thought is anything you can do to increase flow volume and pressure will help the lift pump not work as hard and help maintain the minimum fuel pressure that the VP needs to stay healthy. 14 p.si is when the over flow valve opens and starts removing heat from the VP with a good amount of flow in return fuel. We all learned this from this site because Michael Nelson is a good technician and teacher.

I never saw the factory filter ports so not sure on mine. All I saw was an amazing difference in much higher fuel pressures switching to the Vulcan big lines on the same factory lift pump and filter. Eventually I went to an AD100 lift pump. Not sure about the benefit in placing the return fuel dump separate but I do like to see my overflow valve dumping the heat off the vp. Good amount of return flow is a good thing and I can see mine. I like that.

Yeah I know how you operate... leave the camper on so truck won't fit inside shop... My prefilter is 30 micron water seperator. I also have the Vulcan big line kit all the way to the vp. My return line is plumbed into the fuel filler neck on what used to be the fuel fill over flow. I can take the fuel cap off and see the amount of return flowing. This helps mix 2 stroke oil, but my intent was to have the hot return fuel not dump near the draw straw and help cool the VP. However little benefit that actually is... I don't really know. .

If you cut the bed be prepared to use some real smarts on getting it reinforced. You will need to get real creative/ really use your head on how to fix it. Could be a nightmare... I warn you, it's better to drop the tank. The filter before the lift pump is called the prefilter to help the lift pump last longer and separate out water particles before the lift pump can break the droplets up to even smaller droplets. It will help the engine filter that is even a smaller micron filter to last longer and do a better job. Do not remove the engine filter you need that one to protect the VP from the smallest contaminents. Don't go by my pics on top of the fuel module... that barb that is plugged was the return line. My return line now goes into the fuel filler neck. I also added a boat tank vent going up behind the fuel door to eliminate the factory vent since they are known to cause problerms. Basically I remodeled all the Dodge out of everything to do with the fuel system including getting rid of the intank screens and their silly pick up tube.

Weekend Help
As a contractor I meet all kinds of folks. As some get older they want to go to a gas stove heater so last year I had two people give me their cut split firewood for free if I would haul it off. That is a good deal.

In my case it is another savings not paying dump fees to dump the scrap.

Radiator drain plug fix.
Joe, can you get it to spin using some spray lube? I think a new one on the bench would be good first.

Nothing! I like it. I spray a little wd40 on my kindling. It works great.

I think just go with a Big Ol' Honkin woodstove, if only there was something to make it easy to start the fires. Sometimes a fire never wants to get going so I like Mikes idea laying a grass burning torch aimed inside the stove. That was classic. Your amount of insulation will help loads. You can also quadrant off an area with insulated walls/ceiling to heat in winter time. That affords a storage loft up above if you sheet the top. Some guys do that and put in stairs going up.

Radiator drain plug fix.
It would be nice if you could change the valve to a brass ball valve somehow with the right fitting to adapt to the O ring female fit on the radiator. But then I am a dreamer...... someday I might try that with some plumbing fittings.

"Worthless grass munchers", is that why they are so dear to you as in 'John Deere' cutting machines?

Ee Gads! Did this horse heal up 100%? And did you see it happen, that's why you caught it on time?

On the Hunt for a Slide in Popup camper
I'm glad this thread went from pop up campers to horses.... as now I'm not the only guy around that does that. I know truck campers and horses go well together since it allows you to tow the horse trailer and have your rv. What is amazing to me is horses can get so very large yet are so gentle. Some you cannot go near and will take a chunk out of you.

We need a truck for the new mopar1973man tshirts
CSM we are referring to the rims featured more near the beginning of the thread of the all black truck with the regular size cab. Those are the very special Alcoa rims. They hardly ever fail to my knowledge and are far superior. I must say too that the Dodge center caps do fit with the Alcoas with a minor amount of remodeling. Sorry about the off topic I always get side tracked.

We need a truck for the new mopar1973man tshirts
I can tell that they are and they are the best 16 inch rim ever built. I have a set on my 1st gen and my 2nd gen with a spare set in the garage. Folks don't know what they are/ sell them too cheap. They are $280.oo a piece brand new I like the direction you guys are going for the T shirt truck. Would like to see mountains in the background like the old one.
