Asking for a friend
either that or it was hosed down with water while hot, i usually lightly pressure wash the engine bay but only when the engine has sat and cooled a bit while washing the rest of the truck first.

How do I correct uneven tire wear?
i run 50 psi on my superswampers and i dont load anytyhing. they are as flat as pancakes as far as wearing. i hear of people running the fronts higher since the boat anchor is up there.

Fuel pressure light
as everyone says, get a gauge. my edge beeps at me about anything out of range for what i have set. if you can avoid it, get something that will do its job to the max. and 1psi could keep the light off and kill the vp over very short time. an analog gauge or digital, analog would be less expensive.

Bosch certified rebuilders vp44
through reading, the common fail points on the vp is the piston b ore that is made of aluminum and the piston is steel. the bore will wear and pressure will leak past the piston. the other is some vp's come rebuilt with used computers, they have heat cycles on them and are prone to failure prematurely compared to new computers. I will only buy a vp with a new cpu and all the upgraded parts.

Sluggish at Hiighway speeds!!
its almost sounding like someone really screwed up the shift points with a ecm flash of something? Presuming lets say the tranny is fine.Have you taken the intake off the turbo and spin the wheel to see if it isnt gummed up or out of play causing late spool up? sometimes it could be the simplist thing. anything obstrucing the exhaust or intake? tranny fluid topped off and not burnt out/overheating? (throwing darts at the wall) :banghead:

2wd vs. 4wd
i get my sense of security to find out if im on ice when i see others skid off the road... everyonce in a while i will drop it into 2wd and gas it, if the backend walks out on me i know to be more attentive and slow down a bit, more lead time. I dont trust the 4wd like you said, so i do this test here and there.

Info needed Asap please fellas
i had a friend hop in and gently move the steering wheel back and forth just enough to put pressure on things but not move the tire as i had my hand on each joint on the steering system to find the play. i actually found play in a couple that i couldnt visually see. with this play it gets amplified through the geometry/weight and strain plus it is cumulative. You could have 2 joints that have a Milimeter of play but that can equate to a bit of wander as both add up to something greater.upper and lower ball joints on the axle might be starting to wear causeing your play? Have you checked the unit bearings for play or wear?i have also heard rarely that the steering boxes will become loose on the frame itself. I forget if you are running a steering brace or not, if not your residual play could be from the frame flexing from the steering box force.

valve adjustment
so i was curious and couldnt find the answer to the torque on the locking nuts that lock the adjuster screw down on the rocker. All the FSM says is "tight"... i can make a grade 8 bolt tight to the point i break it... literally (ive done it before)when i did mine i got them tight, hopeully not too tight. i do need to redo them as i didnt let the engine cool enough. I was thinking of setting them to 7-17 see if that quiets the valve clatter i hear.

2wd vs. 4wd
you do get used to driving with what you have, im sure if i only had 2wd my driving style would be much different and better experienced.

2wd vs. 4wd
i dont run with any weight in the back, yes it would give traction but it is just that much more weight to try and stop in an emergency.I try to run in 2wd but i hate holding up traffic or putting myself in a bad position to be rear ended by Mr. Idiot yapping on his crackberry/forcing food into his mouth/messing with his gps/driving at the same time. So i just run in 4wd most of the time once i find i dont have traction in 2wd.plus running in 4wd and using the exhaust brake/downshifting makes for fast stops without touching the regular brakes. I know this as i have people behind me following too close when i decelerate in this method and they are swerving everywhere not to hit me. I do apply the regular brakes once i am in a safe controlled stop.To each their own though, preference and situation dictates who does what with their driving style and no one is wrong or right. Do what works best for you and your experience/situation

saginaw steering gear
thanks eagle! i had an idea that it might be similar with those recirculating balls but was unsure. I guess when i buy my new box i can take apart the old one and make a posting about it.

Dead Batteries?
well sacrificing the tranny to spare injury is better than the other.but then again they should have had something or someone warning of the accident around a blind corner... :banghead:glad everyone is ok though

Info needed Asap please fellas
could the slack have moved to part of the steering linkage? there are 6 points of slack to deal with. i know that when i upgraded to 1 ton steering linkage the slack moved to the trackbar and the steering box which of course are already worn..lol

2wd vs. 4wd
same here in colorado. until the surface roads get cleared. Our rigs put down so much power in 2wd that it just sits there and spins... I have to run 4wd all the time in snow or i just wont get any traction due to excessive torque. I do run 2wd when i want to slide round corners though when the snow gets real bad... more than 2-3 feet i deflate to get maximum traction and utilize my exhaust brake to do 90% of my stopping. Combined with not following close and reducing speed i have zero issues in 4wd deflated tires. Get a 4wd as a second vehicle.

saginaw steering gear
Does anyone have a link or an exploded view of how the dodge saginaw steering gears work? such as what is in the guts of them? i did a search and came up empty handed. It is anything like the ford recirculating ball boxes? Are they integral or non integral steering boxes?

2wd vs. 4wd

Track bar repair question
i have heard it is a bandaid on something that will always be a weak point. thus why i never bothered with it. I am on my 4th trackbar in 3 years (keep the receipt from advance and moog will replace for free lifetime warranty).I am just going to put the coin down on a 3rd gen trackbar and bracket, never worry bout it again.

Just my luck
commonly happens here for deer, i saw a nice 6-8 point just trotting through the neighborhhod in lakewood last night...i was at a stop light and he walked right in front of me. he was looking for food though and seemed a bit nervous/desperate. looked healthy though and i am sure i would have hit him if the light was green. But it wouldnt have hurt as i got my battering ram bumper.
