Tone Ring Mod............Just a way to "advance" the engine timing mechanically. If you've read any of my posts/threads about my Smarty, I can't run any "timing" via the Smarty or I'll get timing rattle. The tone ring sits behind the engine dampner on the front of the crank. Fuel Tank Vent Mod..........This was the first mod I did to my truck, and the I love the most. It's a mod to move the fuel tank vent so you can get more diesel in the tank. Dodge uses the same tank for gas and diesel trucks. Gas truck fuel tanks need an area above the liquid fuel line in a full tank for expansion and for vapors. Diesel expands and doesn't vaporize anywhere near as fast a gasoline, so it's a way to get more fuel in the tank. Before the mod, I'd fill up with about 28gallons when the "distance to empty" on the "lie-O-meter" read 0. Now I fillup with 31-32+ gallons when it hits around 0. Fram Boost 2 Intake.......Just a "rebadged" AEM Brute Force intake system. Won the thing in an internet raffle!! I've just changed back to the OEM intake system because the rubber on the filter part of the Fram system was starting to dry rot. In 20/20 hindsight, I should've kept the OEM intake system from the start. It's good to almost 500 HP. Does that help??

Smarty UDC!!
AH64ID, you should consider doing a "power point" presentation of this stuff. I'm still not totally "getting" all the stuff you're posting. Is that possible over the website or the internet????

Filled up this afternoon after pheasant hunting. Very little trailer towing on this tank...............less than 100 miles. At fill up, I had 672.6 miles on the tank and filled her up with 32.8xx gallons of fuel. That works out to just under 20.5mpg. No long jaunts on the highway either............mostly driving around suburbia here. Mighty Whitey has 177,4xx miles on her now also.:thumb1:I truly believe I've picked up almost 1mpg with the SpynTec freespin hub kit that I installed in July.

Hard Start
THIS^^^^^^ My Bud's '03 started the hard start when cold thing at about 250,000 miles. 6 new injectors solved the problem. He's got 330,000+ miles on it now.

A New Low
Just got done making a batch of fall Horseradish. My eyes are still watering and I do believe I burnt my sinuses and throat in the process!!!:stuned:It's still a beautiful thing though.:2cents:Normally I wait for a "good hard freeze" before I make it. However; we've not had one, we've had numerous "frosts"...............but not a hard freeze. The hard freeze kills the leaves above ground and sets the "stuff" into the roots. The leaves of my plants were dead, but I think that was mainly attrition of mild frosts!!!:smart:Haven't sampled it yet, but if the vapors are any indicator of heat; I think I did well!!!

Little experiment with BLACK oil....
Interesting!!!:smart:I'll be the "doubting Thomas" though and say that within 500 miles your oil will be black again...........irregardless of your engine mods. Just saying, not arguing!!I hope I'm wrong.................

Learning from a buddy's misfortune...
Mom, if the trees that were in my yard looked like that one, I wouldn't have taken them down!!! That's a beauty for sure. The trees I took down were hanging over the electric service line into my house, growing next to the power lines in the back and/or dangerously close to my house. These trees were box elder, soft maple and ash..................all of which have a tendency to snap and break. Probably 75% of the trees I took down were hollow in the center, or bug infested. These were all "volunteer" trees that the prior owner let grow up. They were not attractive trees at all. All they did was keep my yard wet all the time!!! I still have trees...........just not so many now!!!!!

Oil Filter Full
When changing your full flow oil filter; once you've broken the filter free and can turn it by hand, slide a plastic bag or zip-lock style bag if you want a "heavier" bag over the filter and then continue to unscrew it. The bag will catch any leaks and drips, and the filter will fall into the bag when off the threads. No drips down your arm or on your drive!!!

Little experiment with BLACK oil....
Are you a "bottled water" salesman by chance??!!!

Little experiment with BLACK oil....
Johnny, My oil looks fine. Just did a "complete" change out before my NoDak trip, and the oil "looked" and "felt" fine!!!!!! Yeah, it was black as our president, but it was still more than sound..................unlike his policies!!!!!!!!! In the lakes region of northern Illinois that I live in.................it's not really flat.....like central Illannoys. A lot of up and down here......at least where I live anyhow!!!!! So don't go throwing me in with the "LibTards" that voted like I didn't!!!:banghead::banghead:

Little experiment with BLACK oil....
I suppose I'm lucky that I was born with a "light" foot!!!! That said; my last fill up yesterday, got me 20.0mpg's spot on!!! My mods are in my signature. My odometer and speedometer were checked on my NoDak hunting trip last month............almost "spot on" with Smarty!!!!!!!! But that's old news!!!I still believe that most of mileage is due to the "man behind the wheel"!!!!!Mike and I get really, really good mileage on our trucks...............different generations also..................how can that be???????????IMNTBHO, it's due to the "man behind the wheel"!!!! How can it be anything other???!!!

Boot waterproofer
I've had real good luck with "Sno-Seal" over the years. It's got bee's wax in it.I warm the leather over a stove burning until fairly warm and apply the stuff with my fingers and rub it in. You can see the warmed leather absorbing the stuff. Do the whole boot. Repeat any areas missed and double up on the areas below your ankles as that part of the boots gets the wettest the mostest oftenest!!

Which "Free Spin Hub Kit" ???
Love them!!! Better handling, and I would say I picked up .5-1.0mpg. No problems locking or unlocking.

Stretching the orifice a little more...
Read all of the "Federalist Papers" my friend!!!! Very inspired reading!!! Gives you an insite into the founding of the country and the thinking that went behind it!!!!

Stretching the orifice a little more...
Folks should also read the "United States Constitution" as well as the "Federalist Papers", to get an idea of how the "FOUNDING FATHERS" viewed a "tyranical" government run-a-muck!! - - - Updated - - - ??????????:banghead: I truly don't understand your reasoning here!!! The choice was quite obvious IMHO!!!! Even if you had to hold your nose voting for Romney. What about your local elections..........they didn't matter???!!!! Remember, we're Americans and have the "privilege" to vote based on our Constitution which the Democrats want to subvert!!!! Not all nations have that right/privilege. It'd seem many on the right took your stance and decided to not vote. The numbers show that the conservatives that didn't vote would've put Romney over the top. All I can think of saying to you know is.............??????

Need HO VP and CR engine numbers
AH64ID said I was incorrect, but I could swear that the 610ft.lbs. versions of the CR Cummins didn't happen until the '06 model year. I dunno............... but as you said yesterday; it's my fault that the present person occupying the White House got re-elected!!!!!!
-
Need HO VP and CR engine numbers
ISX, your info is correct for the '99 model year. My manual tranny '99 was a 235HP and 460ft.lbs. truck. As I said prior, my '04.5 is a 325HP and 600ft.lbs. truck.
