A Close Call!
Yea, I know you said deer... But like I said, I wonder what once could do about the larger critters. Teach? What do you teach, btw? Now, down there, what type of deer do you have? Cause I've seen deer in the south on TV shows and they look like large dogs.

Odd No Start, No Turning Over, No Codes....
I was having problems with my starter a while back and this link was very helpful! I remember Mike trying to help me out on it and it was not making any sense with what he was saying! This is why! He is speaking of a starter like this in the link, but my starter I was trying to fix is not like this one! My brush plate is on the other end and not towards the pinion side of the starter, etc.!

Wh1C Hybrid
Well, I've got 2 isspro's and they're EV2's. One is my EGT guage and uses a K-type thermocouple so it does not have an amplifier box. My other one is a trans. temp gauge and it does not have anything either. The only power they receive is just for the backlighting on the gauge face. Maybe their fuel pressure gauges are electrical on the EV2 series? I doubt boost would be of any electrical...

A Close Call!
But thats the beauty of being able to make your own! I imagine I will probably end up going with something in aluminum and make it strong with proper reinforcing. Although, the welding will probably be out of my hands unless I get a kit for my welder to do aluminum... Hehe, another excuse to tell the wife I need another thing! Yea, no kidding. Just take it to the carwash and get all the blood, guts and hair off. And wow! Your SIL's friend is lucky! thats one heck of a wreck! Ha, now what to do about them pesky elk and moose! I've seen semi-trucks totaled from them! Haha, when it comes to a deer my wife wants me to hit it, lol. But when it comes to a little kitty cat or the likes, I better roll out the red carpet! I know about the deer whistles and for the longest time have always been told they do not work. Besides, how many deer are really in FL? Here is a link I found on the subject as well: http://www.deeranddeerhunting.com/articles/how-effective-are-deer-whistles

Power Steering Noise
I too was curious to see if it is the steering box instead. Maybe some sort of internal bind raising pressures? As well, try the Lucas power steering fluid, I really like it.

A Close Call!
Yea, we've got a roadkill "law". If you hit an animal or so one on the road, you can take it for meat. I've done it twice this year now. First deer was not salvageable. Second deer, I got about 10lbs of grind. Really small deer. I've already resigned myself that anything in the road better be out of my way or its getting hit. Except, with this time around, I try a different approach and almost pay for it. Well, now that money is going to come trickling in again, it will be on my long list of things to buy some day! I've got some cheapo' $25 fog lights, but they are not that bright. I've got some better lighting in mind, though! If I woulda put her in 4wd and goosed it, I would have been fine. Put winding her up in 2wd, bad... Sometimes I just cannot lose traction in 4wd. The kicker is, with the road being plowed, I did not justify 2wd. But when I hit county, I did not think to 4wd it. But a block into it, I almost regretted it! I've also been thinking hard on whether or not I could build my own front "road armor" bumper for cheaper than buying it. I've just been wanting to get my dream snowplow first before I made it so I could still use the plow with it on. Also make a nice "seat" for me to sit when I'm workin in the engine bay, lol.

Nasty Vehicle Accident
I was hoping someone on here would not be as knowledgeable about it! I knew all that, lol. I just wanted to make it sound good. I dunno one thing though, I would think a lumber framed house would be better at load-bearing than a straw and mud house. ..ahem, back to topic! lol...

A Close Call!
Man! Okay, so I work the night shift now, and we have just recently accumulated about 3 inches or so of snow. On the way back home, I will hit county road and the plow stops at the city line until the city is done, then they will do county. So me and the wife are cruising down the road, I'm doing speed limit(35). Stupid me took it out of 4wd when I shoulda left it in... ...and then 2 deer jump out in front of me! Alright, what to do? Do I keep going and hit one, or do I try and maneuver out of the way to avoid them? Ahh, I will rev the truck a little and scare them out of the way! HA! Yea, woulda worked in 4wd, not 2wd! So it began, we do the sideways thing, and yea, literally going down the road sideways. I've done and been in alot of these sort of things so I remember the first thing to do it not panic. Okay, but now my precious moments are pre-occupied in telling myself not to panic! In this case, hitting the braked a little did help my situation. I turn the wheel a little to try and regain orientation and with all the momentum, I end up going sideways the other way! Okay, well I'm slowing down a little now, except I turn and nothing happens. Alright, so this one is going to be outta my control... I just keep watching where I will end up and luckily my estimation was wrong. I've got a ditch on both sides and a driveway coming up with a data box sticking up. Wife is grabbing the OSH bracing trying not to scream her head off! Friction finally wins and we end up almost in this persons driveway but not in the ditch! Needless to say, it woke me back up! I guess I should just kept going and hit them. Although, the truck is not damaged, so maybe it worked out for the better! I did leave skid marks in the snow in the shape of braided hair atleast. Can't say I'm not artistic!

I wouldn't trust JASPER with a 10 foot pole! Never had first-hand experience with them, but by-golly, I've never seen a soul speak highly of them.

Anybody Do Any Hunting?
I was taught those sort of ethics in hunters ed as a kid, well, except for buying them hard A!

Anybody Do Any Hunting?
You can't put a price on wild game, IMHO.. If I spent $1000 to kill an elk, by golly, thats what I'll do! I've had many hunting trips come up with nothing! Thats 400-600 in the hole for an empty freezer! But the time out in the forest experiencing something so very few do, priceless!

Got A Leak...and It's A Slow One.
IF you have a local wrecking yard, I would try and find a block from the yard and get it onced-over and replace your block with it. If at worst, sell it. Really crappy to actually have first-hand experience with this. I have more often than not heard of people say the lock-n-stitch or welding the cast only buys you time. Don't want to sound crooked, but maybe if you did do a bandaid and sold it to a car lot or something you could get out of it. You need to drop that truck like a hot potato or replace the block. Thats really your only two permanent solutions!

Tell Me I'm Not Losing It!
Yeah, what dripley said. I never even started the truck in between fluid swap. But just curious as to what wiper fluid would do with coolant in the system.

New Job!
Thats why I'm VERY thankful for the job me and the wife just got back here at home! I really feel spoiled at this place!

Tell Me I'm Not Losing It!
Alright, so the other day the windshield wiper fluid light came on. Picked myself up a gallon of some fluid. Popped the hood in the parking lot and popped the cap on the resevoir. I start pouring it in and then noticed that its almost full after only pouring in a 1/2 gallon of fluid. Huh? I poured it into the coolant resevoir! :banghead: Ok.. So I lost 1/2 gallon of fluid. It was no biggie to isolate the resevoir from the cooling system. Pop the rubber hose off and pop the resevoir out and dumped the fluid into the wiper fluid bottle. Curiosity is, how much of a difference would it really make to the coolant system had I not noticed? ...can't believe I made such a rookie mistake!
