Ddrp Lift Pump
Anytime the IAT sees that the temp. is 65 or below. After running the truck around a little or longer, the truck is warmed up and the temp. will obviously be above 65 at the IAT sender. Therefore, the grids do not cycle like you would expect when the truck is cold because it measures the intake temp. Not the ambient temp.

High Idle Kit Is Here
With the rate I'm going, I'm gonna have to add the other 3-gauge pod for the dash! I told ed, by the time we are all said and done with our add-ons to these trucks, our cab is going to look like the inside of a space shuttle!

Sounds like a person can make more money owning a private truck, anyways.

2001 24V
Theres multiple things that can be to check injectors or the VP44. I don't have much experience in troubleshooting the IP, but you could start by checking a few things if it were the injectors. 1. Fuel mileage take a dive? 2. Run rough when running? 3. Oil drop test on paper towel, for stuck injectors, etc. It does not sound like an injector issue to me though. If anything else, the IP....

This Is Whats Wrong With Our Nation!
I'm utterly ashamed at the lack of respect or awareness people display these days. This is not the 100% reason why our nation is screwed up, but this is just a display of the affect of what is going on with our nation. Yesterday, I take the wife with me up to our local Super 1 foods. Its a grocery store similar to a Safeway. Up here, the past few days it has been blowing with about 30mph winds on avg. Temps have been around the 0 mark. We pull into the parking lot and jump out of the truck. To the behest of me, here is our National flag flying! BULLLL! It had a light on it to fly it during the night, but proper flag etiquette says you are to not fly in inclement weather! :banghead: So I go in and B line right to the counter where the manager should be. Lady acknowledges me and I ask her for the manager. She comes over and asks me what I need. I asked her if she and her store knew the proper etiquette for flying a flag? She said, "Yes, why do you ask?" I retorted back to her, that she still has the flag flying on the pole in this weather! She said, "Oh! Wow, well they must have just forgot to take it down. I'll have them take it down. Just by curiousity, are you a service member?" I told her no, "But it has NOTHING to do with being a service member!" (The importance of recognizing the proper flag etiquette, not the significance of the flag and what our country sacrificed) She said, "Okay, thanks for letting us know." And she walks off! Okay, I think to myself, maybe it will get taken care of. Well, to my surprise the next morning, we go back because we had rented a movie and needed to return it. THERE IT WAS! STILL FLYING in this damned blizzard we've been having! So, I've been considering a few things to take it to the next step. 1. Go back to the store, express my disappointment in them and their lack of respect to the flag. 2. Call corporate and tell them what happened and threaten them with a publicity statement on facebook and/or the local paper. 3. Just go straight to the paper, facebook and post on their facebook page about the issue. 'Am I over-reacting to this? I don't feel like I'am. I mean for GOD's SAKES man, when I worked at McDonalds at the age of 17 I was proud to take our flag down from the pole during the night and inclement weather when my manager told me to go grab it. We EVEN took the damned time to fold it PROPERLY before putting it away! We EVEN took it down during sundown, even though we had a light bright enough to illuminate it! :banghead: Gahhh! Someone help me. I'm getting really ticked off about this. This really angers me alot to see this. This is such a huge reflection in the attitude of people in our country, that they do not even take the time to go out and take out flag down when its proper! I'll tell you this, when I left the store from the first visit, I watched a kid go out and collect grocery carts. Freezing his *** off to collect CARTS! But not freeze your *** off to take down the flag? It takes LESS time to grab it up than to walk the lot and collect CARTS! SOB! If people had the respect. Little do they think, that it was because of people who died, sacrificed to get our country to where it is now, that they are able to enjoy their lives in most peace and safety and enjoy more freedoms than any other nation! I'm about ready to go take the flag down, MYSELF! What is it going to take?! Is someone going to say, "Eh, someone else will do it. A service member will stand up, I don't need to." WELL, you know what, to someone else, YOU are the someone else!

Weird Engine Grunt Maybe Timing?
Unplugging everything means you unloaded your smarty too, right? You need to clear the smarty settings on the truck to get it all back to stock. All thats required is to unplug the edge box from the harness. If you still have problems, use code reader to see if there is codes tripped. If there are no codes, maybe pull that MAP sensor and diagnose if its faulty. Whats your fuel pressure when you experience these symptoms? Does the smoke smell sweet? Check your oil and coolant for fuel wash or contamination.

High Idle Kit Is Here
Well fellas, got my high idle kit installed. It was bitter cold outside with 30mph winds during the install. Hands got chapped out in nothing flat and cut myself a few times doing it all. I just got off the phone with Ed and talked to him for about a good hour. I was making some recommendations for some revising to the kit, but I think he has his ducks in a row already. Initially, I was installing the faceplate and it seems as though the screwholes were not lining up. I had to do some tweaking and rotate the plate clockwise a little and kick the top right screw a little to get them all to bite. Ed, was thinking that since he encountered this before and that my vehicle was in a small accident at one time, that the dash may have been replaced/repaired, etc. Which may be an aftermarket part that does not quit meet OEM specs. So, really the biggest challenge to the install was getting the harness fed through the firewall! Being that I already had a few accessories going through it, I had a challenge in front of me. What Ed told me, that I did not realize is that the grommet can be enlarged. I though the plastic retainer for it limited my ability to do so. I fed a coat hanger through the hole and made a loop to grap the harness wire and pulled it through. I popped the grommet off from the firewall and negotiated the connectors through as gently as possible, but still ended up causing some damage to a wire. There is a non-sheathed wire for the IAT connectors that broke. I tried to use a torch to resolder it to fix it, but with the wind kicking hard and the torch too hot and my frustration, I ended up burning the wire apart. So I did the next best thing, butt connector. I got it fixed but could not even use electrical tape! It was cold the tape adhesive would not even stick! I tried to pull a piece of tape off and it was so brittle from the cold it darn near was crumbling! At the least now, I have what I spent my money on! I made Ed realize that none of his workmanship is to blame for my misfortune, but he still insisted upon sending a replacement! I can appreciate that he will do that. Lets just see if I can make this one work next time around without screwing it up! Ed sounds like a pretty stand up guy from just the conversation I had with him, and I think that if he accomplishes what mountains he sets out to climb, the Cummins world is going to get a whole lot more interesting!

A Great Way To Gardening...
I'm going to grow quit a few different things. But my in-laws will also be growing other stuff too. So, does anyone here own a greenhouse? Has anyone made a homemade one? I'm looking hard at an idea along these lines! http://www.albertahomegardening.com/how-to-build-an-inexpensive-hoop-style-greenhouse/ I'm going to try and see if there is other and cheaper ways to cut down the cost of building one without sacrificing strength. I've also come to the conclusion that I think in order to keep costs down doing all this, I'm going to make this greenhouse big enough to do all my gardening in and not transplant to another area. Just grow everything in the greenhouse. But of course I will be adding this mulch idea as well. If I have to, I've seen people make smaller greenhouses within the greenhouse to keep plants warm.

Air Dog Ii 165...yay Or Nay?
I like the look of the fuel labs, but it screams FASS and AD to me. The BD does, too but different approach. I guess its ultimately up to you, but I would definitely consider the warranty period with anything these days...

Well, Mike did the writeup for the cubbymount. Ed, I'm sure its been asked before, but the spacers, how long do they need to be cut at? Cause the tube is just one long piece.

High Idle Kit Is Here
Well, got the switch in. Was all giddy to check it out, then the smile disappeared. One of the packers screwed the pooch. Put the black finish faceplate instead of the brushed aluminum. ARGH! Well, fine, its not the end of the world. So I called DAP and told them. Told them to just refund the $5 for the difference in finish. I'm excited to atleast see what I can get for results, now!

Cirrus, Back In The Shop...
Wow, what a waste of money! All that asphalt and it does no good! Around here, they try and patch the potholes, but they know its no good. The best way to rid the potholes now, is to resurface the whole road. I watched the news early morning and they called it a pothole surge! ...yep, its just like Iraq/Afghanistan.

Anybody Running Dap Injectors?
Like I said, I've got their 75 sticks. IIRC, I priced out injectors and found that the 75 sticks were a better buy than the RV's or close to. Some more HP and same price, could not beat it. Depending on how hard you tow, you may have to tow by the EGT's. When I pull my 5th'er, COMP is off and I can go over pulling a grade. If you have a manual, you probably would not have to worry about it as much. I have to juggle EGT's and trans temp. when I get that hot. So I have to try and keep it in lockup while pulling grade but also not so much I cook pistons. An aux cooler for my trans. will help, but I have not bought one yet. Without towing heavy, you probably would be okay with the hotter sticks like mine. I only get a puff of smoke at first when smashing the go pedal and when the turbo lights, theres no smoke, maybe a slight haze. DAP's site also quoted saying that I would see a 2mpg gain with these sticks as well. I don't think DAP will do you wrong, ever. I would not expect an injector failure from them at all, and if there was, they would stand behind it. ALSO, I bought the 75 sticks because DAP said they were BOSCH injectors. Pop tested, and flow matched to each other! Pick your poison, just get it from DAP!

Air Dog Ii 165...yay Or Nay?
Hmm, well I guess I must be that rare gem then. I've got the AD2 165 and don't have any problems with gelling or anything else. I did have to replace the motor once about 9 months in, but ever since I have not had a single problem yet. Thats a good price for it, especially if you get the fuel basket, too. It goes for about $650 new. If you do not get the fuel basket, chip down the price a little. BTW, if you have a warranty card and send it in, I had a no questions asked experience and had the motor replacement to me within 5 days. They do not offer an inline heater, either. Eh, I don't regret buying a lift pump from them, but if I had a chance, I would go with the mechanical.

2001 24V
Two things: 1. Get the FASS on a switched 12v so when you turn the key, it primes the system. Put the FASS on a 12v hot and have it running/priming before you try and turn the truck over. If it turns over when the LP is feeding pressure to the IP, I'd say you need to get it put on a switched 12v circuit. 2. Disconnect the plugs from the senders you are having trouble with and hit it with a blast of water to clean it out, then take an air nozzle and blow dry the connections. Then put some di-electric grease on the connections.

Fuel Boss Or Assassin
I don't think they provide any filtration, water/air seperator in their system. Thats a huge drawback. If you could get a filter block with it, you'd be looking great.

Anybody Running Dap Injectors?
Yep, I got me some DAP's. They are the ones in my sig. I chose them because they were cheaper, new, pop tested and flow matched. Its the most I can go with for the moment with the stock turbo, but I do not plan on going big anyways. I may get me a one step bigger turbo than the stock one, but the injectors themselves can cause some smoke on hard accel. With my edge comp, I can smoke a block out!
