911 help, dying computer, how to quick backup everything?
You need an external HD or some other means to transfer the data you need off of it. Depending on how much data you have, you may be able to use a micro SD card that can hold up to 64gb. Whichever the case, you need something to transfer to. The next step is to get access to the computer to do the transfer. Upon startup, your bootup screen should show you what key to press that will guide you to bootup into SAFE mode. This is a very basic bootup that leaves alot of the more non-essential things out of the equation. But it will atleast let you use the computer to do the data transfer. Once you get everything transfered, its time to find out if you can preserve your computer or reformat the HD. BSOD sucks and I don't remember exactly what causes it. Hope you can make it work! I'd recommend using a different computer to lookup if you can find a solution to the BSOD. IIRC, it usually means your toast, but I've been wrong before. IIRC, there may be an alt. method to doing a data transfer as well, but I cant remember if it was illegal or not, LOL! The waters have gotten a little murky in that dept. The way it works is just kind of like how DELL gains access to your puter to try and troubleshoot problems. You have to be connected to the internet, and I don't even think the computer needs to be on either? Could be wrong... Anyone here a woodworker?
Ugh, this is frustrating. I was never a woodworker by trade and have pretty basic skills when it comes to that sort of thing. I was hoping to see if anyone here knows what my problems could be... I'm getting my butt into gear and trying to get my beehives built before mid-april when I'm supposed to receive my bees. I'm buying 2x8 lumber and ripping them on end to make 1x8 out of it. I'm trying to make sure I get clean cuts as possible but there are a couple issues I'm running into. I've been borrowing the in-laws table saw, its a cheap 10" portable skil table saw. When I mean cheap, I mean cheap. I'm disappointed in SKIL! I've been able to manage to make it work alright so far. Definitely triple checking the fence for straightness. I presume the blade they had on it was the original that came with it. Piece of junk, I almost went deaf using the dang thing! So, I broke down and went out and got the DIABLO brand blade. I believe I got a 40T blade and then got an 8" dade blade set as well. So, I'm having two problems: 1. When I'm trying to rip these 2x8's on end, I cut them to length first and not rip the whole 8' at once. I realize warpage is a risk here. But even then, my pieces range from 16-19" in length. Which I would not see being too much of a problem. I'm putting the pieces on the saw and ripping them a little at a time. Every pass I make I raise the blade a few turns then cut again. With this saw, and the height of the wood, I'm still left with about 1/2" of wood in the center that I cut out with my sawzall. Except, when I start ripping these pieces, I dunno whats going on. Its like one moment the blade goes straight and true into the wood and I'm making the cut center on the board and then the next it seems to cut a different direction! I dunno if this is due to the saw, the blade, etc? Its got me confused. I've also noticed that the lumber I bought is from the local sawmill. I used to work at one of their locations so I know they kiln-dry the wood. But heck, by the time I get all the wood cut I can before I use the sawzall, it seems like the board is cupping really good. Could it still just be too wet? I had some 2x8 from a year ago that I used first before I went out and bought more so I could experiment with it and they worked real well. I'm not sure I could say that they were any drier though? Still had some cupping action to the board on them as well. 2. So I have to make some dado cuts and I just cannot explain this one either. I have only one idea of what it could be. The saw never came with a dado plate for the deck. So I had to make my own out of some 1/8" board. It sits nice and flush and works great. Except, being that it is so thin, it flexes. When I take my piece and dado cut it, from one end to the other, the cut is somewhat wavy and the ends have cuts deeper than the middle. The middle is the proper depth cut, but the ends have deeper cuts. Now, to me that seems that the plate I made is flexing as I cross it to make my cut? But I still cannot explain why then it would be wavy? I made my dado cuts on the pieces this evening before I ripped them and the problem is virtually gone. Its not perfect, but very close. At this rate, I'm getting more and more serious about getting myself a better table saw. A man just cannot work in these conditions! Time to talk to the boss... ALSO, would I be better off using a 24T FTG ripping blade instead of the 40T blade? I've been trying to get as clean a cut as possible when ripping it, and its not bad, but I don't want to have to try and beg for a saw AND a planer! Anyone got some input on this? I really try and do the best I can with what I've got, but this is driving me nuts as I tend to be a perfectionist and I would hate to have someone look at my hive and tell me how ugly they were. Although, atleast I know the bees won't care, and I will have my honey!

Fuel Boss Or Assassin
If you can stick it out for another year or so, as I do not know what the time table is for it, but it would be worth it; you may want to wait until something else comes onto the scene, soon. I don't think I'm really at liberty to really mention much else, but when it comes out, I'm ditching my AD.

Looking at going to 19.5" wheels and tires.
How much you into the wheel/tire combo?

Snap the gas
I know the EPA has introduced new rules about testing, but has it not always been that any OBD vehicle just had a code check? Like when I had to do emissions on my old mazda truck, I would have to run on a dyno and they would stick a sniffer in the exhuast to measure emissions, but when I got my 98 gmc truck, they just tested the fuel cap for vacuum and put the code reader on then I was on my way. Maybe some areas do dynos, etc in combo and do it to diesels now, I dunno. I always thought a diesel just had a code check and that was it..

Not GM but Chevy
Alright, father in law reports his truck has really bad fuel mileage. Supposedly went from around 18 to 12. Been like this for a while. So I ask, does it have a CEL? Yea? Take it to the auto store and get the codes. Its a 99 Chevy Silverado K2500 with the 6.0L gas engine. Codes: P0171 P0174 Fuel trim system lean bank 1, 2. Anyone have ideas? I have not had to work on a gasser in years. I was going to go out and start sprayin ether in different areas to see if I get an audible change in RPM.

Two things: 1. Fluid does not compress, gasses will... 2. Another good recommendation is to pay attention to fuel lubricity as well. Next time your pumping, pay attention to whether or not the pump says it includes biodiesel. If so, no need to add 2-stroke. If it does not say anything, add 1oz. 2-stroke oil to your tank per how many gallons you filled the tank up with. Essentially, a 128:1 ratio.- Happy Birthday Announcement

Alright, so someone school me here. I've registered on a TDI forum and get no responses. I forgot how much of a cold shoulder I can get on other forums! I was looking into the VW Passat TDI and I read up that they make an AWD called the 4-motion. It sounds like the only vehicles like this with the 4-motion are gasoline powered? I did some reading up on them and it sounds like these VW's have their fair share of problems. Sounds like the biggest thing is the timing belt and with the passat, the balance shaft. This is the B5 generation, though. I can't seem to determine what the best TDI engine is though. I'm looking at a wagon as well.- Hazzuh!

The vent on the fuel cap is like a check valve. It only relieves vacuum, not vice versa. If your building pressure, it will not be relieved. This is a safety feature built into the fuel cap. If the vehicle rolls-over, the valve is shut preventing fuel from leaking out of the tank. Look for the vent port on the tank: http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/illflem/TankTop.jpg Make sure this vent is not plugged with debris.- What's Your Prediction For America's Future?
I have to be very careful about how I approach this... The current outlook: Not good, but hopeful. What will transpire? God only knows... read his word. Study history and you will see the details in how it will happen. Do you we have a chance to redeem our nation and return to its once righteous state? Yes, but not without great sacrifice. What his will is, will be done. We cannot stop what must come to pass. Just depends on how far we will let it go. We have the freedom of choice to choose what our future will be. How we do it determines how God carries out the rest.- Fun Fact For You

No... Take your dipstick, let a single drop of oil from it fall onto a single piece of flat paper towel. Watch the oil soak into the paper towel. If it expands into a quarter size drop and looks very pale, like its just a wet paper towel and not oil, thats diesel fuel in the oil. That is a cheap, easy way to see if your injectors are leaking or stuck open, etc.- This Is Whats Wrong With Our Nation!
One can respect the idea that this brings. But it is not the procedure in accordance to the code. I do encourage you to further extend your knowledge on the importance of the flag. I share the excitement of being patriotic and see the reasoning to your statements, but flying a flag is mandated by FEDERAL law to only be able to do it in a certain way. The aforementioned link is a good link to read and learn about the flag and its proper uses. Here is something else of value as well: http://www.senate.gov/CRSReports/crs-publish.cfm?pid=%270E%2C*PLS%3F%22%20%20%20%0A It mentions that flags of certain material fit for weather may be flown. Otherwise, must be taken down. I have seen on numerous occasions of flags tattered and beaten from the weather. The only sure way of knowing if a flag is fit for weather is if the manufacturer states that it is. IMO, better to be safe than sorry! We must as a people regain our respect for our country and have the pride in the nation as we once did. Not holding a reverence for our flag says that on a personal level you have no respect for the way of life. All the death and sacrifice the nation as a whole has made to maintain our way of life is all wrapped up into one symbol:- This Is Whats Wrong With Our Nation!
