Exhaust Brake
...so why don't you just do the reflash?

Just a few questions.
Ahem, wait a second... That would be my mistake. I have a bit of a problem skimming things and not digesting it in its rightful manner... If you are doing a slide-in camper, you are going to want to do airbags, too. I personally would not feel comfortable going over 3.5k fully loaded. Of course, your going to want to make sure you are not exceeding your tire or wheel ratings. Also, I have never done a slide-in, but I bet many who have here, would probably also recommend some sway bars to keep body roll to a minimum.

What took you to lewiston? I try not to linger around there much, stinks!

Exhaust Brake
Now, consider this. I can't seem to find a kit from them for the auto any less than $1600. That lockup controller must be spendy. I'd be more apt to getting BD diesels torqloc instead.

I can see it now!

Exhaust Brake
Hmm, yea. I hear that happens in the older dodges... I was going to suggest the lockup switch, but you already know. I'm sure you also already know that not having the TC locked up and the exhaust brake on is going to create alot of heat in that transmission.

Just a few questions.
If your trailer will truly only be in that weight range you mentioned, I don't think you would need much more than what you have now. The only thing I would be concerned about pulling the trailer is line pressure. The stock transmissions don't have much in that dept. These transmissions are problematic because of this issue. A shift kit could help raise the line pressures, but you could also look at the BD line pressure kit. The transmission already has two methods of cooling the fluid. I would make sure that your coolant is fresh and the cooler at the front of the truck is not plugged with debris, etc. Also, with what you have now, I would not think a 4" exhaust would do you much good for performance except for lower EGT's. But as long as you keep out of OD when cruising, you should be good anyways. You'll probably not even notice it back there, being that light. I would say, if you do not have any already, to get your 4 gauges for the truck: 1. Fuel pressure 2. Boost pressure 3. EGT 4. Trans temp. Your gonig to be able to have a better time driving it with being able to utilize your gauges than the other mods you mention. Remember also, because your an auto, going up mountain roads with the trailer, you will be going slow and won't be in lockup. Thats going to get the transmission oil hot. I pulled a utility trailer full of stuff and had the bed of my truck full of stuff for a week long elk hunt and pulling up the mountain roads in 2nd gear got my trans fluid hot. I got concerned enough to the point that I put it in 4lo and used the lower gearing to help things out. Being that you have a 2wd, you won't be able to do this. You may want to actually consider getting an aux cooler instead. Here is the line pressure kit: http://www.dieselperformance.com/index.php/product/index/29P Aux coolers: http://www.dieselperformance.com/index.php/product/index/251P http://www.dieselperformance.com/index.php/product/index/273P

Anybody Running Dap Injectors?
Huh, I thought I read smarty, my bad. Stick to your guns on this. These cummins are going to become VERY desirable, soon. You may start having people beg you for it! I think the injectors you pick in the 60hp range will be good. Unfortunately, I still think you are going to have to drive by your gauges. With 60 stick, the EDGE and the turbo, pulling that much weight, there is no way around it. Granted, if you had a 5 or 6 speed and did not pull grades, then you could probably not have to worry. I drive mine with OD locked out and have my comp off and still have to drive by my gauges. I've been hesistant to use the comp when pulling as their manual says to not have it any higher than I think 2. I just don't chance it because I have such a new build on my transmission. Also, I have an hy not an hx. But even still, I think they are still really close, performance wise. Atleast thats what I read.

$85 Dollar Experiment
Good to get a report! Although, IMHO, .3 is too much of a negligble difference, that I would say its a moot alternative. If it made atleast 1 mpg difference, then I'd say there may be something to it. Also, because planes have these, is there something about the relation of these and aeronautics? Maybe they only become effective after you go over a certain speed? Speeds that planes get to, not vehicles?

A rant about Verizon...
Yea, it really is no surprise to me, actually. Thats why I have certain stuff on the puters to keep this from happening.

Exhaust Brake
I'm partial to pacbrake... but I suppose if you can get one at the price your speaking of, might want to get it from there! Since you have an auto, what are you doing about the TC lockup?

...its mud season, in Idaho! ...I should take some pics of the ruts I put in the field trying to get my truck out. Went up to the differential!

Tap it or leave it?
I think as long as you have a good lift pump to suppy the IP, you should be fine. Consider this: When I first got my truck, my fuel pressure was 0 when driving, had the edge comp, pump was tapped. I drove like this for 3 months until I learned through research. Who knows how long the previous owner drove it like this! I'm still using the same IP! I have the comp, tapped, and the ad2 165 in. No problems with the IP, considering how much abuse its taken! Its a risk I can take, to replace it with a new unit, but I'm not worried about it dying on me! Its a personal decision to make. If I had to rely on my truck 100% and it was a life or death, then I would not rely on my truck, period! I'd tap if it were me, personally.

Anybody Running Dap Injectors?
Careful... an RV275 is not going to give you that much extra. Like stated, around 30-40. I would not go with an injector any higher rated than 75hp for your setup. I cannot speak for others, but like I said before, I went through DAP and will vouche for them. With your smarty, you can control how smokey it will be. Although, I had my injectors in before I got my comp and I could barely make any smoke! Like I said, it'd puff some when I got on it and then when the turbo lit, there would not be any smoke. I think you may be over complicating it a little... As well, does your wife know more about diesels than you to suggest the duramax? That, and I think injectors are a little cheaper than a new truck!

Hearing Aids?
Initially, my FIL lost his hearing from manning an m60 machine gun until his ears bled... Hes had nothing but trouble since. He gets constant infections and sometimes the ears bleed as well. Doctor removed all of his hearing parts in one ear. Totally deaf, but he says he still can hear a little out of it! Hes going in sometime this summer and get a mold taken of his ear and they are going to make some hearing aid for him that will be attached to his nerve or something. Pretty crazy!
-
The logic in this...
For a laymans terms, it reminds me of a high pressure low volume paint gun... lol.
-
Hearing Aids?
...and people tell me I'm too cautious. This is why I put ear plugs in for all sorts of things that usually you would not think you would need. A good lesson to learn for us younger bucks.

Need to identify cause of power steering/brake loss...
Yes, the work the shop did for you on the vacuum pump will not be affected by replacing the power steering pump.
