VP44 opinions
So @IBMobile, you think it could have possibly been replaced? I've been getting mixed opinions, it's not a huge deal either way. If it has been replaced I don't believe it was that long ago which tells me it will last that much longer is all. A VP is a pretty big expense so if it had been replaced it more of a piece of mind.

Spare tire winch
That's almost what I did. I put the head of the bolt in the end of the shaft and welded it the a nut on the end of the bolt and welded that so I could use a regular rachet/socket.

They're 85's then. I know they're the stock size for sure. The number of hand holes in the wheels kinda threw me a bit. Possible that it did not come with the wheel covers, they are for a 4 hole wheel. It is a basic work truck, I doubt the wheel covers were factory but I don't know. Did some searching. In '01 the 3500 wheels from the factory had 7 hand holes. The spare that came with the truck when I got it used is a 4 hole wheel. Someone just bought the wrong wheel simulators. They installed 4 hole simulators on the 7 hole wheels. Amazing how many people can't count.

Spare tire winch
I was able to get it broke loose. Didn't take much effort really. Had it turning, cable going up and down just fine. Had a rachet strap out to secure once the tire was up. Placed the tire on the cable cradle and started cranking it up. The another problem presented itself. The spare hits the exhaust pipe where it goes up and over the rear axle. It's an aftermarket exhaust and large diameter than stock (4" I believe). So now that I have the winch working the tire won't fit up there. Just my luck I guess. On another note, I was doing a few things to the truck yesterday and noticed my spare is a 4 hole wheel. The six on the truck are 7 hole wheels. Any thoughts? I thought they were either 4 or 5 hand holes.

Most likely yes, I just didn't know the proper term. I will try to spray it down with PB blaster or something to see if I can get it to move.

I do need to do the ground mod, is it possible that could mess with radio reception as well? My factory radio seems to fade in and out sometimes like interference. With all that's going on right now I think I may have what I need for the ground mod. Trying to conserve money right now being I'm laid off again. Who knows how long this time. I also have a Buick rendezvous I have to replace all the brake lines on. Have the parts just dreading it severely. We're giving that to one of our daughters. Can't wait til it's gone!

That's where mine is now. In the future I want to relocate it to the frame.

Would the larger 1/2" line with a ddrp cause any issues?

Are there any tell take markings on an OE pump compared to a rebuild or replacement? Just curious.

Mine has a cap nut if that's the right term on the bottom. It's just a round cylinder with threads, bolt enters from above. Gonna be hard to get my big mits in there to loosen them. Lol

I do want to upgrade the system. I had posted before about going to 3/8" line and eliminating the banjo bolts for better flow and pressure. Probably replace the line from filter to VP first since I noticed a drip from the banjo on the bottom of the filter housing today. Gave it about an 1/8 of a turn to snug it up a bit. I'll check it again soon. I was just curious if that VP could have been replaced already since it looks newer than any other parts.

I'll try that. I was going to remove it but it look like the bolts come down from above. Not easily accessible. Maybe just spray the crap out if it and try to work it loose.

Not having trouble, just happened to take a closer look at the VP44 today and noticed that it looks like it may have been replaced. I say this because I know how aluminum will oxidize over time (truck is an '01) and this looks way better than I would expect for an almost 20 year old piece of aluminum to look. The fittings attached to the pump look fairly new also. Just wanted some other opinions so please see the 2 pics I took. It actually looks better in person.

Spare tire winch
I tried to turn mine today by hand (don't have the OE Jack or tools) and it wouldn't turn. I'll leave the spare in the bed until I get it sorted it replaced.

So when you put it up there or take it down you would have to lift the tire up to the frame by hand?

coronavirus protection
In Ohio we started off at no more than I think 100 people in one place, then 50, 10, 5 then you must be at least 6ft away from any other person. Now we have a stay at home order. I imagine they may follow a similar plan down there as well.

If you could that would be great. I've searched but I have trouble with the search on this site sometime. Don't know why.

Fuel Prices How low will they go
I had to go into town for a minute so I filled up the truck at $2.39 credit price. She took 18 gallon.

Fuel Prices How low will they go
Here in Ohio the truck stops are around $2.89 but at the circle K where I buy my fuel it was $2.39/credit $2.33/cash yesterday. Gas was I believe $1.80ish.

Good song there Pepsi ! Ohio changing the term for their order was our governor's doing. He's been very to the point on all this. He holds a press conference everyday at 2pm to update the people. He has tried to avoid such an extreme order but people won't listen so he was forced to do it. So far I'm satisfied, maybe even impressed with his actions. I feel a big part of the problem is the younger generations not taking anything seriously.

They shut down Ohio as of midnight Monday night. They call it a "stay home order" rather than this shelter in place term I've been hearing. Basically we can't go anywhere unless it's essential for food, prescription or other needed items.

Which way to adjust rear drum brakes.
I thought no I'm going to have to pull the left rear wheels. That adjuster didn't want to move. Right side adjusted fine.

Which way to adjust rear drum brakes.
I think I have this correct but something didn't feel right in the left rear wheel. From the backing plate under the truck and through the adjustment opening I would turn the star wheel upwards correct? Because the adjuster lever on the inside of the drum would push it down to make an adjustment. Is this correct? I googled images but some of the ones I saw didn't say what year the truck was so I thought I would ask.
