Need fuel system help!
If I could find a way to extend my test gauge hose and leave it sticking out of the hood just for testing purposes that would at least ease my mind.

Need fuel system help!
This was the cobbled mess that was in there. I don't know how it had pressure to be honest.

Need fuel system help!
I set out to change the pre lift pump filter today. Ordered a wix part# 33270 from Amazon. When I went to change it I found a mess from whom ever installed the FASS ddrp. They cut the original hard plastic line and slipped a loose fitting rubber line over it and installed the included filter. It had to have been sucking air in. Question is, could I just go get some of the correct size rubber line (for fuel of course) and go from the quick connect fitting on the ddrp to when the plastic line turns into the aluminum hard line and install my filter in this rubber line? Truck is down now so I need to get it fixed. See pics below. Just dodged (pun intended) an expensive bullet. The hard line was cut to adapt a screen filter pre lift pump. The soft like used was the wrong size and had to have been sucking air in. I cut the hard line back a bit more and used some biofuel approved line of the correct size and spliced in my new filter. The line I had fits right to the hard line and I also installed spring type hose clamps to ensure an air tight fit. Crisis averted! Checked fuel pressure after the install, at idle I'm at 16-17 psi. While revving the engine and holding it a 2000 rpm it holds steady at 12psi. I know that isn't the most accurate with no load on the engine but I will get gauges as soon as I can.

Average mpg for basically stock truck
Luckily we don't have that in Ohio yet. So if I understood all that, by running a bigger injector you can deliver the same amount of fuel faster than with a smaller injector which essentially changes the duration of the fueling event. Now, am I correct in thinking that by doing this it affects the egt by burning faster since the fuel is delivered at a more optimum time during the compression stroke? Now, say I put 100hp injectors in a stock engine, will there be a 100hp gain with no increase in boost or otherwise? Or, will there at minimum need to be an increase in boost pressure to add the needed oxygen to burn the extra fuel to make the expected horse power? If so, is there a way to increase boost without a tuner? Or, would starting down this road with the bigger injectors begin a string of mods that would need done to compliment the previous mods?

I finally broke 23 mpg

I'm new to this computer tuning stuff. Now my head hurts.

I have to ask: What are the numbers that you use when referring to the turbo? i.e. 54/60/12

Average mpg for basically stock truck
I would like to go bigger than the rv275's but in reality I don't know how soon I would spring for the tuner ($700 is a big investment, I might be a little on the cheap skate side) or bigger turbo. Then at what point do you have to think about head studs and such? I would like a bit more power but don't want to sacrifice reliability or over complicate things.

More turbo questions
Have you tried any penetrating oil on the pivot points? Carb clean as mentioned above would clean out the carbon and soot as well. Just keep working with it, it will free up eventually.

Please send some prayers to Wet Vette (Eileen)
I hope and pray for her and you. Hopefully they will find the cause of all this and be able to cure or at the very least control it. Keep us posted God be with Eileen and you Mike.

Average mpg for basically stock truck
Unfortunately I won't be able to do a tuner this year, I have to many other things that need attention and money. Lol I'll have the truck along time so in the future it will probably come to be.

I think then I'll stick with the rv275's. It'll be a little bit before I can get them but as soon as I can. Looking at DAP they have rebuilt rv275's with good used nozzles for $225 plus a core charge. Do these need to be popped at a certain pressure or is what they set them at good? With they set the pop pres. at my request?

Is it safe to assume then that the EGT's would climb if using those injectors without a tune? Also, would there be an " in between " injector that would be above a rv275 that wouldn't require a tune? How long will the present injectors be "ok" until replaced? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to learn. Been driving gassers forever other than the semi's for work.

I have been looking around at injectors just seeing what's out there. I saw on DAP they have a new Bosch injector 7x.010 listed as a 175hp injector. Is that the correct one? If so, will this be a 175hp increase on install or will a tuner be needed to see this increase in full? If a tuner is needed, what could I expect without one for the time being? Smokey? Any hard cold start issues? Just more curious newbie questions.

3rd Gen Front Brake Upgrade
Does an exhaust brake affect egt's or anything else? I've used them in semi trucks but they were always factory installed. What is involved with installing one on a 24 valve? Just curious .....

Seat covers
The blue is a little off but they do look nice. eBay you said? Have a link? Just curious.

@Mopar1973Man says I need to replace injectors, I would like to upgrade whenever I can. I don't want to smoke like an old freight train but a little won't bother me. I mostly drive empty, I will tow our camper a few times a year (about 7000 lbs). No plans on a tuner as of yet, in the future......maybe. The rv275's are a slight upgrade over stock, the 7x.010 flow more above those I take it. Will the 7x.010 injector have any other affects like excess soot in the cylinders or anything like that? Will I need to increase boost somehow to accommodate them? If so, what would be the best rout to do so? I just trying to get a "plan" in my head so I know where to start and move forward in steps. I am new to diesel mods and trying to learn with out making costly mistakes in the process. I will be relying on the advise I get here. Thanks for being patient with a newbie. Lol

I'll have to see how close to the seat my shifter gets. Never really looked. Lol

Average mpg for basically stock truck
Sweet, sounds like it may be the way to go for now. Not planning on big power adders as of yet but if I can improve what I do have I'm all for it. Those I believe are a +40 injector? Would that be the largest to install without a tuner of any kind? Any pros/cons to going maybe slightly bigger? Just curious.

Seat covers
I've seen those. I wondered how they would work with a manual trans. I've seen them as low as $28 from overseas. Did fit nice? Seem sturdy?
-
Average mpg for basically stock truck
That's what I was afraid of. I'll have to save up some injector money. Should I go with a stock replacement or would slightly larger injectors benefit a stock engine, say like the rv275's for example? Or any other recommendations?

@Mopar1973man I wanted to revisit this real quick. I was wondering what you thought of the data reported by the scanner at idle. (See pics above) Tried to tag you in this post but failed, hope ya see it. Lol

I also like me that center console. Could you get into more detail on the install or maybe start another thread on the install? I'd like to have cup holders up there. With a manual trans they're on the floor and very inconvenient.

Awesome video
I started to watch it, got hungry for tacos.
