  1. I have to say I got really lucky on this one. It does have some rust but runs good with a fresh 305 v8, th400 trans and the famous 205 (I believe) cast iron transfer case. The trans need a new pump, she leaks real bad but I only gave $1200 for her so no complaints
  2. From the pics you can't tell it's been touched up. Everything looks uniform down the sides. She's looking real nice. Good work!
  3. GM has definitely lost their edge. To be honest the new GM trucks are ugly
  4. Oh, you noticed that huh? Lol Here ya go @dave110
  5. I'm going to need some of those to tow my RV. Are those OEM (guessing not by the price) what brand?
  6. Looking great!! What pads did you buy? I'm by far no body work guy that why I'm asking.
  7. As the title says, I received an unexpected package in the mail yesterday. A brand new set of headlights, complete plug and play with turn signal and new halogen bulbs installed. The wife though I went on a parts binge again so I was getting questions lol. I come to find out that a good friend of mine that had stopped over last weekend had noticed my terribly clouded and full of moisture headlights on my truck. He took it upon himself to order up a full set and have them shipped to me. They are basically stock replacements but I do greatly appreciate his generosity! Looking forward to getting them installed!
  8. It was nice that he took the time to show you what to do. Some shops try to keep their trade secrets to themselves. If you have the time a little tutorial with pics would be nice. Share with us a "how to".
  9. When he does, if it bothers him enough he can fix it. Lol
  10. Thanks for the link IBMoblie. I'll add that to the list. Heater core is now bypassed. Just used one of the existing heater hoses to do it. I'll replace them both when I do the repair.
  11. Wow, I had mine on my truck for 3 years with no trouble. Still worked when I sold it once I got my Dodge.
  12. Do the LED'S cut through the rain well? I've never had them (yet) so just wondering. The KC's I had on my Z71 cut through just about anything. Lol
  13. I had to use the heat today, been rainy and a little cool here lately and had to make a morning trip. Anyway, turned on the heat/defrost and found this after about 20 minutes of driving. 100% sure it's the heater core now so I guess I have some work ahead of me. I think I'll bypass it for now and begin collecting all the parts. I want to replace the heater core, a/c coil and do a good cleaning and replace the dash as well. So far everything seems to work as far as blend doors and such so is there anything else in there I should consider while I have it all apart?
  14. Ok, thanks. I was just wondering. I'll probably stick with the 2nd gen type when I buy them. Easy bolt on. Most likely they will be aftermarket, OEM cost way to much unless I find some on a salvage truck.
  15. Any rubber gaskets in the engine or trans will be toast, literally. VP44 will be junk as well. It would be a gamble at best I think. The engine/trans would both have to be rebuilt before use. As far as parting them out, I don't know about that either. If I were looking for parts I wouldn't want anything from a fire damaged truck. That's a lot of heat where heat shouldn't be. Just my $.02
  16. Just curious as to why one would choose 3rd or 4th gen mirrors over ones made for 2nd gen? Is there any advantages? I ask because I will at some point need to mount tow mirrors to my 2nd gen for towing our camper. The little Mickey mouse ears can't see around the RV.
  17. Now they loaded. Even though it's duct tape it looks good in the pic. Truck is looking really good!
  18. For some reason your pics didn't load. Might be my phone who knows. I'm sure it looks better though. I did the rust on the bottom of my passenger door, turned out ok but didn't get the right color to match and should have done a skim coat of puddy to smooth it out better. Probably re-do it when it warms up.
  19. Looks much different with the black vinyl off of the doors. I thought about that myself since mine has peeled some. Did the dog get the trans checked out? Lol he seems to be looking things over under there.
  20. Definitely! There are no safety switches on these old machines. Common sense played a big part back then. I do enjoy running them though. Brings back alot of memories of my grandfather when I was young. I also love the sound of those old flat head engines running especially when your making them work. They have a sound of their own. Hard to believe that most riding mowers these days have more horsepower than these old tractors but they could never do the work of the old tractors or last nearly as long. I have 4 non runners at the moment, a '38 Massey 101 that was running a couple years ago but has a carb issue and the part is hard to find and a '39 Farmall A that I had running at one point but the thanks to a storm it got water in a cylinder. Now she's stuck again. My grandpa's '47 Farmall H ( bought on his GI bill after WW2) that will be a complete resto, same for my great grandpa's Massey Harris Pony. (Year unknown) I'd like to get them all running and line them up for a collection picture. I better use the panorama feature on the camera. Lol
