Lift Kits and Oversized Tires - What you need to know before you start!
We'll written and we'll explained. It's a good idea to know exactly how a leveling or lift kit and large tires will affect how your truck drives. It's not just throwing parts at it until it looks cool. There are many things to consider to make it a safe vehicle. When you venture to far outside if the original design parameters there are trade offs, lower fuel mileage, wear and tear due to the stresses of large tires and the like. I'm no stranger to lifted trucks but alot of people dive into these mods and don't understand why the truck isn't reliable anymore or doesn't drive like it used to.

Abs question
I touched on this a little in another thread a while back. Finally getting to it. My abs light flashes constantly. The red brake light on the dash is not on, only the flashing abs light. I have read through the abs article and it refers to the abs/brake light both being on. So that didn't really give me a definite answer to my problem Abs light flashing, no parking brake light on and the speedo is working fine, cruise control works, brake lights come on when brakes applied as they should and 4wd light comes on and engages as it should. I did replace one front wheel speed sensor yesterday, planning on doing the other side either today or tomorrow but I feel it may not be the issue. Anyone else ever run into this? Any advise would be appreciated. The light is just annoying.

Heater core replacement coming soon. Anything else?
@Mopar1973Man, it's just another example of the wealth of knowledge and experience here on this site that has helped its members. This is why it pains me to think that this site may go away. I used your write up on how to accomplish this and it was spot on! I am a paying member and appreciate what I get in return for said membership. I have also donated a little in the past, I started on a month to month membership just because money was tight at the time but have realized that what I gain here is more than worth what I have paid in membership dues. Anyone reading this that has not joined please do, you will not regret it.

Heater core replacement coming soon. Anything else?
The thermometer I had in the vent is the one I use for a/c work, it tops out at 120 and it was pegged. I'm going to use my digital today and check it again just out of curiosity. Air flow is much better now. I may look into the filter setup from genoa, gonna have to wait a bit though. I'm laid off again for 2 weeks. (End of week one now) so once I get back to work. It may be a Christmas present for myself. Lol

Heater core replacement coming soon. Anything else?
Finished the heater core replacement today for the most part. It went well, I was not overly meticulous with everything but I did clean things up. Wish I would have taken some pics but I was rolling along and didn't want to stop to go get my phone from the house. The evap core was almost completely clogged with dirt/dust and other goop. The heater core was definitely showing signs of leaking. Both have been replaced now, heat blows nice and hot (topped out my 125° thermometer) and much stronger now to. I have to vacuum the a/c tommorow and check for leaks before I charge it.

I should have looked closer. Yes that's the trailer I would want.

Anyone paint or dress up their Cummins? Let's see some pics!
I was under the truck not long ago changing oil and noticed some rust in the side of the block. Most engines do this I understand that but, I did spray some black pain on it just because. I planning on doing injectors in the spring so I was thinking of cleaning up and painting the valve cover. Red possibly to resemble the N-14 cummin which is the engine that I had in a Peterbilt years ago and made me love and respect the Cummins engine. Not gonna go crazy with paint and polish under there. I do try to keep the engine bay clean as well, when I wash the truck the engine at least gets a good rinse.

Nice, I'd like to have one like that but with a gooseneck. Dang things are pricey!

what he said. Lift it, level it, it's your truck, do it the way you want. Just do it safely. Like @Mopar1973Man explained earlier, make sure what ever you do that your alignment is correct to maintain the safety factor. When you do change things let us know what ya did and we like pics. Before and after maybe?

Can someone help with factory height
My last truck (1995 GMC Z71) was lifted slightly. 3" suspension and a 3" body lift to clear the 33x12.5x15 tires I had for it. It was fun but the GM's start out so short anyway my dodge 3500 actually sits just as high as the GMC did. The GMC was very hard on steering and suspension parts. With the dodge I'm more concerned about it being reliable and longevity. I will leave it at the stock hight and run stock size tires on her.

Hard to see much take in the pic I think. Doesn't look to bad to me, not my truck though. May look different from a different angle

I think he said he measured from the center of the hub to the bottom lip of the fender.

Might be talking out my tailpipe here but instead of lifting the front is there an easy way to lower the rear a few inches to level it out?

Truck bouncing with load
I vote shocks as well. The internal pistons/seals could be worn where they ride most of the time while going down the road. A larger bump would push the piston out of this worn area and the shock would dampen better because of the better deal.

Heater core replacement coming soon. Anything else?
Would it be feasible to maybe add a switch to close the door from outside air? Same as MAX a/c but by a separate switch, toggle or otherwise on the dash?

I was planning on having to replace some seals or "weather stripping" when I'm in there. A filter would be a great idea to try to keep some of the crud out of the hvac system.
