  1. I have been looking at the glowshift gauges. I know the isspro units are highly regarded here but they are a tad expensive. I'll do like wipmonkey and build up to better later.
  2. I don't know if I haven't had enough coffee yet or what but that made my brain hurt. This quadzilla, timing, wire tap stuff confuses me. Hence why I am leary of getting a tuner.
  3. I also have a pressure gauge like that. Part of my problem is I have factory steel 7 hole wheels but the simulators are 4 hole so thins don't line up.
  4. I may have to look into this more. When I first bought the truck tire were new (less than 500 miles on them) and inflated to 80psi. What a harsh ride! I checked the door sticker once I got her home and deflated to the prescribed 65psi/front and 50psi rear. Ride was much better. I've left it there ever since. After reading this I'm thinking my wet traction would improve by applying this formula. On wet rainy days the rears seem to spin pretty easy. I just attributed this to the torque of the Cummins. Only draw back is it's difficult to check the rear pressure without removing the wheels.
  5. I've had many gassers, they're fun but, there is just something about that Cummins rattling away under the hood. I catch myself looking at other trucks pulling big trailers and such and think to myself " I could pull that now if needed ". Lol We have a 3 axle equipment trailer here on the farm that I couldn't pull with my previous trucks. Had to use my uncle's duramax. Trailer is 4000lbs empty, couldn't do it with my half ton. Not with a load on it at least
  6. Welcome! There are alot of great people here and a wealth of knowledge and experience. I am new to the dodge/Cummins combo myself. I've had or driven many Cummins powered semi trucks which is what lead me to the dodge with the Cummins engine. So far, I love the truck. I'll never go back to a gasser.
  7. I try to use 1/4 as an empty mark. Won't let it below that in warm weather. Cold weather I'll keep it above even that. Probably between half and quarter. I had the fuel.light come on once, made me nervous. Lol Sure don't want to run out on a diesel.
  8. Ours here in N.W. Ohio has turned green recently. Winter blend I assume. I still have a tank full of red outside for farm equipment. Going to have to treat that soon to avoid gelling and moisture in it.
  9. I'll ha e to check for voltage when in reverse tomorrow. I was just curious at this point. Thanks all.
  10. Just curious (because I forgot to look) are the reverse lights also wired through the factory 7 blade socket on the truck? Truck is an '01.
  11. Glad to see you able to get them back on the road Mike! Great job!
  12. I'll have to check the rear sensor as well then I guess. I was going to have my buddy check it with his scanner but they changed my shifts at work again and I won't be able to make it there tomorrow as planned.
  13. Mine is attached to the passenger side battery tray as well, but on the front side of it. Nice little bracket @Dieselfuture
  14. I am curious as well. I'm guessing that Mike's trans is just basically wear from all the miles. The engines run forever but mechanical parts do wear out. Was there any sort of warning? I would guess not since the wear is very gradual over a long period of time. Be a good idea to put the needed tools in a tool kit just in case.
  15. You said "it finally happened to me" is this a common issue with the 5 speed? Just curious. I also have the nv4500 but with what I consider low miles (148k now) so I'll know what issues may pop up later and how to fix them. Thanks for the pics @Wet Vette!
  16. I need to purchase a lot of degreaser. I want to clean up my Cummins (I think it's mostly from the oem crankcase vent) and I also have a gleaner combine that needs a good cleaning so I can pinpoint any leaks.
  17. How in the world did you get so many tiny holes in a p/s line @That Guy??? Just curious
  18. Welcome back to the forum and thanks for the update. My truck is a factory manual but I've noticed plenty of people swapping auto's for the manuals so I'm sure they will appreciate it.
  19. Thanks, I'll get one ordered soon. If that doesn't solve the issue I'll have to look closer at the grid heater draw and the alternator diodes. I'm pretty sure the cheap china breaker is the culprit.
  20. I kind of touched on this in another thread but can't remember which one or find it so here we go. Sorry for rehashing this. I did the basic W-T ground mod and installed a 150amp breaker between the alt. and passenger side battery. The breaker seemed to trip early (it was a cheapo from Amazon $12 made in china) but prior to the mod not once did it ever fry the 140amp OEM fuse which leads me to believe that the breaker is sub-par. So my question is: Which 150amp breakers are you all using with no problems? I have no tuner or major mods for that matter, basically stock truck, original alternator with about 148k on it. Need to get this done since it is getting chilly and I'll need the grids before long and the extra draw there will surely trip that cheap breaker. I've had them disconnected over the summer.
  21. This thread has been dormant for a while but hey why not. I'll post a couple of mine. First one is me towing a fifth wheel for my son. The second, we were hauling hey for the cows. There are 44 bales just in the bed at about 50lbs each.
  22. @leetyJust gonna take a shot at this, I'll let @LorenS do the math. If you would eventually swap to a 3:73 gear and when it's time for tires step down from the 240/70/19.5 to a 225/70/19.5 you would loose a bit over an inch in height which may make those gears work even better for you. Biggest drawback to the big wheels is the rotating mass. I don't know what that tire combo weighs compared to a stock wheel/tire but I would guess they would be heavier. They do look good though. Just my $.02
  23. I was just making sure I was using that calculator correctly. I punched in my stock size in both fields and came up with 3:55 which is the ratio of both axles. So my final drive ratio is at 3:55-1 ?
  24. No trying to hi Jack but @leety I see you have a dually. What was the oem tire size? What size you running now? Just curious.
