So, working on my problem child again.. 2008 MC 3500 SRW 6.7L 6MT 4WD.. Original tcase took a dump, due to a randomly-engaging 4wd motor. Truck has 150k / 6400hrs on it currently. Rebuilt the 273D tcase, replaced all gears, seals, bearings, chain, bushings, etc. shafts were fine. 7 moths later, it **** the bed, with the motor trying to engage 4WD randomly, regardless of speed; switch in 2WD position. Tried sourcing a local 271D and convert to manual shift. Couldn't find a 271D but found a 271F. VERY minimal differences in the two, with one being shift pattern and the other being the output flange/shaft. rebuilt 271F using the D's shaft. Installed manua…

OK; to kinda go along with the couple posts in the 2nd gen forum about the VP and auto tranny, I'm asking how many miles y'all have on your OEM Common Rail injectors. Mighty Whitey has 223,2xx miles on them as of today.

Just had a link to this e-mailed to me from another Dodge forum. Just wondering what everyone else's take is on this system, good, bad or just more hype like 99% of the rest of the ones with high claims but no results other than to drain our pocket books. http://ecofuelmaximizer.com/

I have heard a lot of rumors about what the dealer can activate with the Star scan tool through the CAN BUS system. I'd like to hear from people that have actually had some features turned on, not from a guy you know or what not. Actual experiences, share your year and what you had done. Some things I've heard (I know some of these are true) High idle, accessory power delay after ignition is turned off before the door is opened, changing the vehicle location to Canada will turn on daytime running lights, activating the trailer lights through the factory trailer hookup. I would like for this to be an easy place to gather information if someone that wants a feature act…

I know some of you may sigh reading the post subject and I really have worked hard to study up on eb vgt function trying to troubleshoot my new truck purchase. Yeah, I am selling my awesome 02 6 speed that I love for the very powerful/comfortable 6.7 mega cab. My entire family has thanked me for easier travel when camper pulling but I’m chasing down a no eb condition. Me7....has put a great article out on calibrating vgt so I am now getting the confidence to proceed with pulling off actuator and check for manual actuation to see if things are bound up. Here is how I’ve arrive at this juncture. -no eb function at time of purchase -perform service on …

OK it has been what like almost a year since I installed the hubs. Well we have replaced the left side 2 times and the right side 3 times with it needed to be replaced again! The last time for the right hub was December! The clown at Hub Warehouse told me "you have to have something worng with your truck or you just can't drive for $hit" really? So now I'm going back to the OEM Mopar hubs and we will see what happens.Don

Just over a month ago........when the really cold weather got here..........I decided to experiment with the Smarty setiings on my truck. Well, for 1+ month now I've been driving on SW3. The mileage sucks when compared to SW5........at least on my truck. I switched back this morning, and...........holy cow, I've got OOOOOMMMFFFF!!!!! now!!!!! SW3 on default setting was/is a puke on my truck. SW3 is 60hp. SW5 is 90hp. For the month on SW3 I ws getting about 16-17mpg.........it was really, really cold in that span though. I ran SW5 for over a year prior to this "experiment". Stupid me!!!!! If it ain't broke, fix it until it is!!! Hopefully on SW5 I can get back to the 1…

Just got home from a 3700 mile vacation with my 05 and It has an annoying issue with the cruise control that I have never noticed before. It will out of the blue just kick out. no rhyme or reason. sometimes it will go almost an entire day and only do it once and the next day it will kick out evey 10 miles and then just come out of it. It doesn't turn off or loose memory it just cancels like i stepped on the brake. if I hit resume its back to normal. Brake pedal is up all the way and the p-brake pedal is up also as I checked that the first time it happened. It is so extremelly intermittANT that it would be a hard one to figure out I think. Road conditions and temp did not s…

Molly, lithium, hi temp. etc. So what grease is used where? i currently have a molly grease in my grease gun. is it safe for say u-joints? ball joints? CV joints tractor pivot joints. wheel bearing? i've read and read on this and can't really fin d a good answer. just that new grease is better then none. anyone care to explain. i have a case of JT-6 extreme hi temp and pressure red stuff but was told by a few people that molly is the best going. what about the Lithium? where would i use that? The way one reads most forums i'd need 12 grease guns... i have two but only ever grab one.

Need some help. My friend has gone through 2 stock turbos on his 05, he has a leadfoot and barks the turbo all the time. Both failures have been the shaft shearing from barking it. So what would be a good replacement turbo for a an entirely stock truck with maybe an edge juice plug in module for power adder?? Need to order tonight, so any help would be great!

So i have searched and searched. i can't for the life of me find how to get my 08 transfer case into neutral. it has a little button you press with a pen. i've pressed this button and it blinks. i've tried rolling slowly, trans in N, clutch in clutch out. going from 4L to N, 4H to N. no luck. so either my truck has issues, or i do.. neither of i'd be surprised at. thanks.

I read about a few guys that do this on another site. I was wondering if anyone here does it. It makes sense to me, but I'd like the majority opinion from y'all!!!In really cold weather, they start their trucks, and then put the transfer case in Neutral. They then put the tranny in Drive, or if a manual in "direct".......4th or 5th depending on your tranny type. They claim it helps warm the truck a bit faster if you don't have an EB. I can definitely see how it would help a manual tranny warm up a bit.So what do you's guys think about it??

I have a friend with a 3500 that won't start. His friend did a diagnostic and there were no codes but he got a message that said, "1 no trip". I'm wondering what it means and if it's the reason for the no start? Thanks,Rob

Just priced a set of dynatrac ball joints.. $660.00 Suggested press tool to do the job right $422.00. Spicer drive axle Ujoints $90.00 ea. Sooo I`m looking at $1262.00 and I have not even gotten to the Spintec hubs ($1600.00) I have my heart set on for next months project.Throw in a brake job, and its a $3000.00 project. I think I`m gonna have to make some concessions here to get the hubs I want :spend:There is an old saying for hot rodders " Speed cost money, How fast do you wanna go?"

Over the last few years I have done a few mods that have made the truck quieter, and well I guess the cumulative effect just snuck up on me!I was camping a few weeks ago and a guy with a bone stock 6.4 Ford commented on how quiet it was, which was not something I expected as the 6.4 is a fairly quiet motor. Well sure enough my truck is a LOT quieter than his. So now I have started listening and it's amazing how quiet my truck is at idle, the loudest things are the trans and the vacuum pump. The trans was super quiet with the 6.7 damper until the weather warmed up, now it makes a little noise but not much. All in all I am pretty happy with it!The things I have done that ef…
