I'm not sure if the video came through, but this one's just for fun. This is Skyler Oestrich's (Dynomite Diesel Products) race truck on the chassis dyno at Hunting 4 Horsepower here in North Idaho last Saturday. Any HP guesses?

Good afternoon, I have a quick fuel pressure question. I recently noticed that my FP gauge reads between 14-14.5 psi while driving, it was reading 17psi-18psi a few weeks go. I assumed that the filters may need replacing, although they only have 2500 miles on them if that. I have not swapped filters out as of yet, but noticed something odd today. I bumped the engine over and FP gauge showed 16psi, but when I fired truck up the gauge would fall to 14ish psi. Would the VP44 drawing fuel cause the gauge to drop. I have adjusted the Airdog 4G in the past to show the 17-18spi while running. the gauge "T" with sensor is approx 20 inches away from VP44. …

  5. Hi All, longtime reader, first time poster. Most of my build is a recipe from here and other parts of the community, so thanks. Finally thought Id join and contribute because Im spinning wheels in my head more than the truck on this issue. Also see if I can help contribute to other headaches too. Issue relates to not achieving max boost out of the turbo, unless the wastegate is pinched. I dont see any boost leaks, and have plenty of fuel, more later. in case sig doesn't appear or post. 6. My truck was running ok for about 160 miles and then it acted like it didnt have any power for a few minutes but then it was ok again. I checked the codes when I got home and I got 234 and 236, Ive had them before, the manual describes them as "problem detected in turbocharger wastegate" I checked the wastegate actuator and you can push the rod to open the wastegate with a screwdriver, it takes a some pressure but it does seem to open, and I hooked air to it and it opened at around 25psi, and it doesnt seem like the acuator is leaking or anything. Should it open at a lower psi? Im also getting a 382 code. The heater works when you plug it in, and the truck doesnt have any…

It seems like everybody thumbs their noses at small compounds these days, but everyone I’ve ever talked to that has had them loved them. I’m specifically referring to stock/s300 type setups, I’m pretty sure the old BD kits used an S300 as the primary. Any idea why we don’t see that setup offered much anymore? Is it just due to a shrinking market and the S400 working better for the 5.9/6.7 crowd as a whole? I’d think someone valuing quick spool and low egt’s more than big power would enjoy the smaller setup…any theories? I’m sure I’m oversimplifying it or missing something. Maybe they really are good set ups, there’s just not a big enough market for vendors to sell them.

I have a nv4500 that is making a noise in 4th gear when slowing down between 1000-1300 rpms it was rebuilt 2k miles ago it has a southbend clutch its not a grinding or clunk sound more like a bearing ? Could it also be the harmonics in that gear when slowing down ? My damper wobbles a little need help !!!

  9. Well, I was going to take my truck in today to have the codes read because I had the p1693 companion code. To review, I started another thread about my truck choking out on the highway, where I could power through it or back off and it would go away. Then my batteries died and after installing the new ones the truck seemed to run great! Now to my new issue... Towed my rock truck to an event this weekend and the truck only "choked" a little on the way up. Coming back I had to drag my buddies trailer back. 40 foot gooseneck with two buggies on it. I'm guessing 16,000 pounds. Truck was running great, went to lay into the throttle going up a hill and holy cow I thought my tru…

  10. Wasn't RUNNING that is. We were on our way to drop the truck off to get the heat/AC fixed. I'd already driven 25 miles... I was going 35-40 when suddenly I lost the power steering... cause the engine had shut off. I pulled off the road into the only space available. I still had 1/4 tank of fuel... old fuel been in since Sept/Oct. I've only been driving enough to keep the brakes from freezing. The engine turns over nicely. No run. I did the key thing. PCU -------- ECM -------- The mice had built a nest in the air cleaner (which I'd recently cleaned out)... mostly insulation material from the firewall. (Hood insulation removed long ago.) My buddy …

So I posted a thread a little while ago about my turbo and it throwing a p0234 code. Got no respose. So, I decided I would try and dig a little deeper into the issue. I thought about making a leak tester to see if I can figure out what was going. So I went to the local stores and parted together a tester. Got a 4" rubber coupling and a 4" adapter with a cap. Put an air regulator on the end and called it good.So I put the tester on the inlet of the turbo and put the pressure to it. If I apply more than 10psi, the tester wants to slide off the turbo from the pressure. The rubber will also balloon out. I was getting a little nervous about a catastrophic failure but I managed …

Was sitting at idle in the parking lot before shutting off the engine. I noticed a squeak under the hood, I know my serpentine belt was squealing a week ago after hitting a big puddle and thought that was the case, so I popped the hood and had a listen and it's not coming from the belt. It's loudest on the driver's side around the valve cover. Is there anything under the valve cover that would make a squeaking noise, injectors, valve springs, could it possibly be the vp44? I don't notice anymore smoke than usual, loss of power, and there's no blow by

I'm new to the site and new to the Dodge Cummins. I have a 2002 with 90,000 on it, stock as far as I know, had it about 2 years with no problems. Recently I would be driving along and suddenly lost power, the throtle goes to the floor with no response untill it downshifted and then it seemed to have full power again. I have been reading your forum and see it could be different things that can cause this. Here is what I know, There has not been a trouble code, or the check engine light has not came on. Fuel filter was replaced about three months ago, maybe 2,000, I can hear the pump come on when I turn the ignition switch on, the truck starts right up. Can someone give me …

  16. Well I had been noticing that my filter seemed a little bit dirty but never thought to check the turbo Yesterday I noticed it had an oil residue which I could of sworn it was perfectly clean with the oem filter 15,000 miles ago I just picked up and replaced with the napa 6637 part number filter Do you think my amsoil filter wasn't working so great or would this residue be from a seal within the turbo? I finally got my 4” exhaust hooked up yesterday. WOW, what a difference it made in the old heap. It really woke the truck up. I can’t believe the difference it made on how quickly the truck revs up. I drive it like an old man (of course I am) and usually shift the truck around 2 to 22 thou. Now I can’t stop the thing from reving to 3 before I can move the lever. Been racing and building hot rods all my life and I have never seen an exhaust make so much difference. I have been making up excusses to drive the truck anywhere for anything ever since.. I am a happy camper:hyper:

  18. I just notticed this morning after arriving at work that I have a slow drip. I tried tightening the plug but it Will not tighten up enough to stop the drip. I searched it and of course it can't just be a normal frickin screw in plug . Anybody deal with this drain plug before. Thoughts suggestions ? I am at work so don't want to mess with it till I get home. Thanks Rob

Out of shear curiosity, how long and/or how many miles do you go before changing your oil? What oil do you use? Myself I use Amsoil 15w40 and generally go about 6000 miles before I change it. I'm still programmed to change oil every 3000 miles so it just feels wrong to even go that long! I've read where some people go a whole year between oil changes and so I would just like to start a poll and see what guys are doing! Thanks!
