It never stops, one thing gets corrected and everybody is happy until the next mystery shows up. The 1999 Dodge Cummins 2500 was doing great once the fuel leaks were taken care of. After a few days my brother called me and mentioned a strange harmonic sound coming from under the hood at start up and then fading out once he started to drive. Well the sound has gotten worse and louder. He sent me a recording of it that I could hear with ear pods from my phone. It sounds like a tuning fork. All the belts are good, the belt tensioner is good, fluids are correct, no clamps loose or tears in the boots. I went online and put the description in on google and had some similar soun…

I've made huge mistake. Put a 01 24 v replacing 99 24 v. I knew there was no Crank sensor but didn't know about tone ring. Is there any type of kit that can correct this. #6 cylinder started knocking and it's a 53 block 346000 miles. Didn't want to rebuild. Came across a wrecked 01 low mileage. I didn't do my home work and now have a big problem. The truck started several times but will not start now and no tach. I still have the wrecked truck ecm and pcm but is's a automatic and my truck is a manual. Is there any type of kit to correct this, change cranks, switch ecm & pcm and flash add the tone ring.

I decided to rebuild my 2nd gen. I'd bought a rust free box and set of doors 2 years ago to be installed. That was all I planned on. Then last Feb I was on the DOR site. I ordered a few parts, extreme 3" lift, long arms, bolt in steering, steering brace, traction bars, Carli rear springs with axle flip and airbags, fox 2.5's coil overs up front, fox bump stops front and rear. I'd already collected and installed a few fueling and air upgrades, EJWA hot unlock, fass 95, Crazy Carl's tunnel ram intake, 3.5" intercooler piping, air horn, BHAF, Magnaflow stacks etc. Then I ordered a few more parts, II VP, Crazy Carl's twin kit with a 62/68/12 and a S475/96/1.10…

So I been having trouble with rear brakes (DRUM) real sensitive you just touch and you can feel them grab, rain, gravel road you got to baby them. Its like the pedal is right there at the top supplying rear brakes before the front disc. Well I installed new injectors and noticed oil leak under boost. Can this be the cause of rear brakes being so touchy?

-27° C yesterday morning, and -28° C this morning. Without the wind. Both my diesels are dead, even after being plugged in. I hate winter.... Yesterday morning we weren't at home so the truck wasn't plugged in. The forecast was -18° over night and it got to -27°. Was pretty sure it was gelled up so I got some fuel de-icer, got a very long extension cord from the hotel staff, plugged in for an hour or so, and fired up alright. This morning, after being plugged in for hours, I can't seem to crank enough until I need to wait for the batteries to charge... Ugh.. My 2003 Jetta TDI has similar issues. Poured a little bit of de icer in that too just in ca…

  9. Hello, I am writing to get help; I fitted a Cummins isb235 5.9 24 valve of 2001 on a toyota land cruiser hzj74. I connected the wires of the controller as reported on the forums; the engine light comes on and the car walking but not more than 80 km/h. the engine revs very slowly and it shows that at some point does not increase further rounds because the unit removes the current. The electrical connections are made; I have assembled only the engine; the engine have a plug with 50-pin and 2 plug harness from pin 11 and 14. I have no obd. Of the 50 pin I connected 48-50-15-35 with the positive and 30-49 negative battery; in the 11-pin plug I connected 7-1 …

So I got home from a trip to California for a week and came back to find out my truck seems sluggish for some reason! I’m not sure why it feels that way maybe I’m just dreaming? Fuel pressure is good. Boost I’m making like 3 psi at 35mph in 5th gear. Is that too high for just cruising?

My truck has the stock crankcase breather bottle. It is making quite the mess and getting oil all over the underside. Got a few questions however as when I am sitting on level ground at a stoplight I see smoke coming from both sides of my truck. I can take my oil fill cap off and smoke comes out of that hole and I see smoke coming from my crankcase breather when I shut my truck off. It appears to be smoke coming from my crankcase breather but I wanted to make sure I possibly don’t have a bigger issue since I am getting smoke coming out of the valve cover oil fill hole. I don’t recall this issue previouslay but have noticed a stronger smell of oil as of lately as well. I d…

Had a wreck-replaced front clip, final phase is headlights. It's a daily driver so put salvage yard stock housings and some old Sylvania's in to be legal. Getting by with a pair of LED fog lights for back roads. Of course I'd like to upgrade. Hopefully to an LED that is not obnoxious to other drivers, or having to overhaul the whole system. Kind of limited on time, but performance and quality are priority. My thought is to convert from 9004's to 07's or whatever else that will start me out with a better bulb. Then it's between halogen and LED's, and reflectors or projector housings. I have the harness to go to quad bulbs but I believe the computer needs to be flashed. If …

Haven't posted before. Just realized I've been wasting a great resource. Hope I can contribute somehow from now on. I have a 2002 dodge 2500 cummins HO 6 speed 4x4 ref cab long bed, factory leveling kit stock truck, 290k plus miles, no mods. Throwing codes 0500-1693 I live in southern Oklahoma and making a run to the east coast with a trailer. Fixing to leave and Speedo and cruise go out, lift pump quits, never had heat but figure I'll be needing it. So I'm trying to get them all fixed before I go. Heater is probably blocked as both lines are warm going in. fixed some leaks in the air line so doors finally working. Had a lifetime warranty on an autozone lif…

  15. I was on a long drive home across Canada for Christmas and at the end of my drive my truck started bucking a little bit, at first I thought it was just running a little rough so I limped it the last 50km's to my parents. Look into it a little and saw the APPS reset and tried that. The next day I hop in to drive it to town and it idles fine when I am warming it up for 10min, I start to drive it and I can tell something isn't right. Bucking at any engine load, Surging up to 2500rpm when I put the clutch in, sometimes to the point it seems like I was going to break a motor mount or run away. (Never any dead pedal though, I could put to the rug and she wouldn't h…

I have been having some issues on with hard steering at idle, along with intermittent 4wd, and slow, or non responsive heater controls... I have been trying to track down vacuum leaks, but havent come up with anything, but a very tiny line with a break near the passenger side firewall... I am wondering if the pump may be bad? I did find a receipt in the truck for a new PS pump installed in 2015, and I know the guy only put about 2000 miles on the truck in all that time... could one have something to do with the other? are they a single unit? Thanks for the info, and help guys!

Then when I started the truck it quickly jumped up to around 1000 rpm and didn’t drop. Tried to recalibrate once again and it still is idleing high. Please help as this is my only vehicle currently.

  20. Hi All, New member here, and relatively new Cummins owner. I have a 1999 24V, pretty much stock with 140k on it that I've owned for about 6 months. Last night I had an assortment of problems pop up and I'm not sure where to begin the troubleshooting process. Unfortunately it appears to be electrical, which is my nemesis. The truck has been running great, no problems starting in cold weather, no smoke, etc. basically just runs great. 2 days ago I was in the process of moving and had my friend drive my truck home since I had the Uhaul. (Don't these problems always happen right after someone else drives your truck?) We drove about 200 miles, hauling a pretty he…
