My front crank seal leaks like crazy. I'm looking to replace it again and this time use the Timken part to fix the wear spots in the crank, Does anyone have any good stories about this or any other way to keep it from leaking? Thanks!

While servicing my truck I noticed a severe oil leak coming from what appears to be the Crank Shaft. If I were repairing the KDP how much more work would it be to replace the CS Seal? This is a first for me and help/ Information about the procedure will be appreciated. Is there a write up on this?

Several years ago when I changed my front diff fluid I was pretty sure I over filled and it vented some fluid and pretty much clogged the prefilter on my BAHF. Today while changing my ac compressor I could see that it has vented again. It has been near 4 years since I changed it. What would make it vent fluid now? I have a trail down the inner fender well.

:l Stupid drive shaft... U joints shot, and the centering ball probably needs done too. Bought the ball kit at oh reallys yesterday. 50 smackers for a ball with needles in it. Wow... The boot on the joint looks toast too, so she do i get that from? Thinking i should return the ball kit and order online somewhere instead. A new drive shaft is 2x as much than replacing the parts myself. Thoughts?

did my semi annual driveshaft greasing today, and I did replace a front joint. I also noticed the CV is getting a little funky. (you know the little 'cup' for greasing the centering ball... the one that is next to impossible to grease!).. So, a quick search and I think I'll go with a custom type shaft. Littons out of Salt Lake shows a brand new, all Spicer components, with 1350 CV joint, (oem is 1330 series) for about 350 bucks. Any custom length, and balanced...

So my front driveshaft came apart. Anyone have any idea how long they are right off the top of their head? I can order a new one($258) vs having one built ($650). Mine is too damaged to measure properly.

Just when you think your done- another issue. I have an situation where when in 4wd the truck functions fine (mostly to pull my boat out of the water at the lake) no issues. The problem is that if I turn either left or right while in 4wd the front end shudders pretty violently. When I straighten back up its fine. I got the truck off the ground and ran it in 2wd and 4wd with the wheel straight ahead. All worked fine until in 4wd if I turned the wheel either right or left the front end began to shake as if something was out of balance but in a big way. I straighten back out and all is well. Seems like something is majorly wrong here. The front differenti…

Ok gang... I've now got one I need to research and figure out. I've got a random front end popping noise that is hard to reproduce. Like I seem to be able to reproduce it the most getting in the driveway because of a few tight turns I've got to make and you can feel the pop in the floor on the drivers side. I jacked up the front end and looked everything over the best I could and didn't find any damaged parts. Last fall [*]Ball joints [*]Track bar Last summer [*]Wheel bearings Steering is tight and good condition but there is a good pop when it does it. Now the only thing I did find is the driver side fender is torn loose from the body in 2…

Just got back from towing for the first time with Mike ccv installed. I was hoping no catch can on the ccv was my oil issue on the front of the engine. Just pulled in the driveway and front pumpkin and steering is wet with oil again. Truck hasn't say long enough to see how much I lost in 250 miles but now I am ready to attack this oil leak which I am assuming its the front main. Any advice on confirming that or thoughts on anything else it could potentiality be? Brian

So I came out to my truck this morning and saw a pretty good size puddle under it. Now my parking lot at our apartment complex just got re-sealed the day before, so I figured that helped with the size of the puddle but when I saw it running off I got worried. SO I babied it to work and parked in on a flat surface and waited. It took about 2 hours before it started dripping, at first I thought it was coolant but it wasn't, it was oil. I crawled under and I saw the oil dripping right from behind the harmonic balancer. I am assuming that it has to be either the front main seal or from the timing cover. I have never attempted a front main seal, so what do I need to loo…

I have a leak in the front of the engine it's right by the slobber tube but has gone from sitting a week and leaving one drop no bigger than a penny to leaving that overnight. It appears to increase while running the engine, sometimes... pictures explain more it's got enough oil everywhere that I will have to clean it up somehow to even figure out what is leaking... When I replaced the body I cleaned as much as I could around the slobber tube but 340,00ish miles causes quite a caked on mess that needs to be cleaned. Questions are what would be leaking in there front crank seal or cam seal? If I have to replace either how hard is it I'm extremely busy so i…

The outer seal in the drivers side of the front axle is leaking and getting worse. I first noticed this at a hotel a month ago then last night at the hotel we left a puddle on the ground, I know gear oil when I smell it so I know that the axle is leaking fluid onto the tyre and ground. I've done this before but never on this axle or this truck my question's are do you guys know of any tips or trick when it comes to these trucks do I need an axle puller how much time do you reckon is involved in this repair. Any input or advice is appreciated right now is the worst time for this truck to go down with a major repair thanks in advance.
