The truck I just got is on its 3rd alternator in a couple years according to previous owner, all have had diode failures causing the TC lock/unlock condition. Assuming that a quality high amp alternator is going to last longer than a over the counter replacement unit.. I was looking at nations alternators but the one for the 24v diesel looks to have a 2 pin plug on the back of it but mine has 2 ring terminal studs. Im new to dodge and cummins. What am I missing here? Does the 98 24v have one off parts or something??

Patient: the truck in my signature. I had high boost readings on my Quad (up to 50 psi at idle) and those numbers dropped about 10 psi with the install of a new DAP map sensor. I then removed the Quad unit and sent just module to DAP to be checked out. While I had the Quad being checked, I installed my old Edge EZ. The module didn't have any issues so they sent it back to me and I have not reinstalled it. With the EZ, I get an almost constant "high boost " error code even after replacing the map sensor a second time. I was able to keep the light off long enough to get a smog check done but I now want to sell the truck and I need to figure out this error code issue. Can an…

Hello all. Have a few questions about egt temps. my truck really wants to stay 1100 to 1300 degrees when i get into throttle. Ive got a schneid hot rod vp44, 125 injectors, fass, a bigger turbo, im not sure how much bigger but it is not stock and 4 inch exhaust with no cat or muffler. Previous owner had programer on it but kept it. Thinking of getting edge programer hopeing it will help with rough idle. My friend who is mechanic says rough idle with hot pump is normal but im more concerend bout egts. Im not much into hot rodding truck but i got good deal and had alot of extras. Will going to smaller injectors effect larger turbo much? I dont want to spend a bun…

Hey folks, been lingering around this forum for years. Best site for reliable info. My truck: 2000 24V with 262K, Edge Comp Box(VP44 is Tapped), Airdog 150 Lift Pump, 4" Exhaust, S&B CAI, ATS 48RE(Don't Ask lol) Upgrade parts in question: HE351CW and DAP VCO 7x0.009 Injectors. All on 265X75r16 tires. Recently l purchased a used HE351CW off the marketplace for $50. It was in bad shape, I opted for a Spoologic billet cartridge instead of rebuilding. Along with the turbo, I purchased DAP VCO 7x.009 injectors to spin it. Project went smooth besides the dozens of boost leaks giving me hell. Countless hours later, with all the boost leaks resolved…

Im sure this has been asked but I can't find a thread. I have an 01 2wd 7x.008 153°VCO injectors, BHAF, HX35W turbo, banks brake with 4" turbo back exhaust when towing 12k lbs with no tuner my EGTs are pushing 1300° on a long climb but stable. With my superchips tuner it's much higher, too high. I am trying to figure out what i can do to get these down, if not the truck has to go.

I haven't been on a forum in many years but you kinda need to go back to them when you have a real question that needs to be answered. I have an 01 Dodge Ram 2500, auto, Quadzilla, 75 injectors, 62/68/12 and a Airdog I run the Quad on the stock tune on the fuel saving tune and bump it up one when towing I just installed my 3 piece manifold so I have my Quadzilla and Edge CTS probes installed and have really noticed my EGTs. They seem to be around 800 in flat ground and up to 1100 on small hills. I was told maybe it has a boost leak which I have checked. My truck can hit 25 lbs quick but kinda seems to max out but my wastegate should open at 35. May…

So ever since I installed this new pump and switched all my pricol gauges over to the new to me 02 3500 cab and chassis the pump pressure has been 21psi. I switched the 17psi spring back out for the 15psi spring and dropped it 1psi. With my foot in it it will only drop to 19psi. I have a new gauge coming to test my gauge but was just curious if this has been heard of before? I talked to AirDog and they werent very much help due to simply it is what it is until the new gauge says its the pump. He did mention cutting coils off the spring but I think the pump should go back if it comes to that. Thanks

I recently got my much needed gauges and hooked up fuel pressure first to check things out. When i bumped the starter for the 25 second run, it jumped to 24 and slowly increased all the way up to 26! Does this sound like a return line restriction? I have an adjustable overflow valve that is preset at 14 psi. What could be going on here? I think this is the cause of my rough running truck...

For the first time my quadzilla was pegging my fuel temp over 160 and crept to 163 I was getting back to work so the truck is off. Is there any thing I can do about this? What could be the source? I haven't had gauges before now so who knows if this has happened before. Thoughts and ideas? Thanks!

Hello All, its time for another problem. I have an 01 2500 (DFI 7X009 injectors, DTT Trans with 89% converter, 3.55 gears, 265/70/17 Tires) and I recently removed my stock exhaust manifold and Hy35/9 turbo and AFE air filter and replaced it with an Insta-Spool Super 9 turbo, ATS 3 piece exhaust manifold and a Power Driven Diesel Dust Bowl air filter. After installing those items I took it for a test drive and all was good. Spooling was nice and had about 38 psi max boost and EGT's were higher than I thought they should be, 950-1000F at 65 MPH on flat ground no load. I called Power Driven Diesel and asked about the boost numbers and EGT's and they asked me to incr…

I got a chance to meet up with stodg73 and upload the High Idle feature on my truck today after work. Thanks for helping me save $90 that the stealership would have charged, your bada** man! I can't wait to see how it works.Again, I would have bought the breakfast if time wasn't an issue, and I apolagize for the long wait. :)Thanks again, I appreciate it very much!

Just got back from a dodge dealer I went there to have my 2001 2500 high idle unlocked it is an automatic...the dealer first told me they could do it the put it in the shop... I leave and get a call from them saying that they couldn't unlock it beings it's an automatic and they claim they called Chrysler and they told them the option isn't available for the automatics....is this bs or true. Pretty sure I have seen it done before and if it can be done with a power chip why wouldn't it be possible with out one on the computer?

Had my truck flashed years ago by Dodge for the high/3 cyl idle, but has never worked. Truck is a 98.5 3500 5spd with Edge EZ, living in northern MN the temps get down to -20 and lower routinely. Replaced the IAT sensor and still nothing, anyone got any ideas what the problem is?

OK.......... I have a Superchip Programmer, it came with the truck. I put the truck back in stock mode and had the high idle turned on at the dealer it worked fine while in stock mode. I put the tuner back on the truck and the high idle didn't work. Figuring that the tuner screwed something up and already paying $90 for the dealer I just gave up on the high idle.Fast forward to this winter. I decide to just go and have the dealer re turn the high idle on. I make an appointment for this morning and head to the dealer. The service manager comes back and gets me to show me the "flash" has already been done. I tell him yea I know it has, I had it done here. I also tell him tha…

Does anyone have the instructions to have high idle controlled off of 3 toggle switches and some resistors? They used to be available here but they have been taken down.

  16. Started by 98whitelightnin,

I went to the dealer and had them activate high idle but it doesnt work. I used a 56k ohm resistor that Prowelder sent for testing purposes and the water temp was down around 100 degrees. I believe the resistor is doing its job at fooling the truck into thinking that its 32 degrees outside because the grid heater took along time to go out in 60 degree weather. MY ultra-gauge shows me that my tps reads 0.00 for the most part but every now and then it will jump up to 0.39 for a few seconds so im thinking this could be the problem. I have a Timbo apps thats only about a year old and I never really could get all the readings to line up like Tim told me to but he said it reall…

Has anyone tried a stacked rotary switch similar to the switch on the bottom of pg 3 of the attached link to get everything into one switch with multiple positions for each of the functions/combinations needed to get both the High Idle & MPG Foolers into one pkg? I haven't sat down and sketched it out to see if it's even possible, just thought I'd check before playing it all out. It would require more then one of each resistor but they're cheap and would reduce the wires through the firewall to 4 and just one switch. No idea how many "stacks" the switch would need or number of "load" terminals for all the possible combinations involved but I'll work that out. It is mo…

This is the second time my truck has done this. I helped a buddy pick up his newly acquired dodge dually and I had to winch it up onto his trailer. When I get done winching, the truck is idling at 950 and won't come down blipping the throttle or brake. I drove it 15 miles miles home and it was still doing it when I got home and every stop sign in between. I came in the house for a couple hours and went back out to reset the apps and cranked it before I did, it fired up and idled perfect. This happened last time I pulled a truck onto a trailer but I had to reset the apps to get it to idle back down. I guess this is a safety feature so the batteries don't get low?

According to this TSB http://mopar.mopar1973man.com/cummins/2ndgen24v/high-idle/tsb18-019-01.htm This can be enabled, I am not sure it applies to the Freightliner though? I might give Cummins North East a call on Monday, and see if the could perform this flash to my ECM? I never heard of it, until it was mentioned on CF.

Ok so yesterday I installed mopar1973man high idle kit on my brothers 02 dodge cummins 2500. I followed instructions black plugs go to coolent temp sensor and white plugs go to iat sensor. The iat sensor was not a easy as i though to get too. Next plug the white plug through the fire wall to see put the chip in and plugged it in. Grabbed my scan guage plugged it in to see if everything changes it did. What my brother noticed was white smoke bad. Looked up sure as you though check engine lights on. Looked at codes p0118 engine coolant temp circuit high input. P0113 air temp sensor circuit stays above 4.5 volts. And the worst one P0216 injection timing control circuit. Now …
