2000 dodge ram 5.9 cummins, manual trans, stock except the air cleaner. Starts and runs fine 99.9% of the time and then 4 times in the last couple months it cranks but will not start. Put the tow rope on it in third gear let out clutch fires right up and runs good. I put new batteries, new ign.switch. There are no codes. You don't know when it will do it again until it happens. The fuel pressure is 10 to12 psi. It started this since it got cold this winter. I live in AK. Any ideas. Thanks 3 of the times the engine was farely cold once the truck was hot shut off for fifteen minutes and come back wouldn't start. Thanks

Is anyone running Delo 400 MG 15w-40 instead of Delo 400 LE 15w-40 I can only find the MG at a local Oil distrubutor referenced from the chevron web site for $82.30 for 5 gal ($16.46 per gal). The stuff should be $10 a gal if walmart carried it.

Good evening, I have a 1999 Dodge 24v and am looking at replacing the fuel return system. Has anyone made their own return system? If so, do you have a list of parts used? I may just buy stock parts, but would like other opinions. I am looking at replacing the line at the back of the head, line from vp and the t fitting. The return line going to the tank is in good condition and does not need replacing. The other lines are rusting and starting to leak. Thanks, Tim

Greetings. New subscriber, so maybe point me in the right direction please. Very intermittent throttle drop out out at 1800 RPM's (randomly every other month), check engine light: Code was MAPP sensor, TPS replaced 8 years ago with upgraded sensor and pigtail. Truck starts with no problems and runs fine, but then any push on accelerator produces clouds of white smoke and rough running sound. When beginning to drive there is low power and it doesn't run "right". After 5-10 minutes easy driving everything seems normal and it runs good with good boost (42#+ if I hammer on it). I am taking it to the shop on Wed April 27 to have new MAPP sensor installed and …

Pcm voltage regulator went out in my truck so I put in an older dodge external v. regulator. Works great at 14.6v until you drive about 5 miles then the check gauges light comes on and voltage reads pegged past 18v. I take readings at fuse block where alternator charging wire is and it is reading 14.6v. what the hell is going on? Voltage regulator is hooked up blue wire 12v switched ignition to cigarette lighter and green is to the plug on alternator. Even put on another ground from vr to ground on battery. Anyone have any suggestions?

Ok This is what it does: At idle if you bring it up just a little above idle say around 800-950 rpm's it will flucuate up and down almost like its missing. Thats where its most noticeable. You can also notice it around 1800 rpm. I've got good fuel pressure, I've pulled injectors and had tested, New Vp twice just to rule it out, cleaned MAP sensor and IAT sensor, replaced the APPS with a williams from timbo, cleaned all my grounds just now. I am running a SMarty on level 3. I have no codes except the 1693 and the other one is a fuel calibration error code and when the rpm's at idle do this weird idle like it misses, every once and a great while it will throw the …

Noticed recently that my truck sometimes doesn't fire right away, if it doesn't it will only start after turning the key to off and then start again, It is very intermittant which makes me think electrical, not noticed the WTS light yet but I'll be watching that over the next few days, no fault codes on dash but again haven't had time to drop the box on it, but over the weekend I'll get to it, I suppose it could be the VP, whatever it is I get the feeling its not going to be a cheap fix Couldn't have come at a worse time as going into hospital a week tomorrow (saturday) all being well for my hip replacement, being done on our NHS for free,1 night in hospital …

To start off I replaced my clutch to a South bend 13" organic single about 4 weeks ago. Although i do not think this is related to my problems it was the start of everything. After clutch was replaced i had an antifreeze leak the day after with i found to be the water pump, fixed that issue with a new pump. Antifreeze was draining onto the belt which spread it over the engine bay (yippy...) Then came the dead pedal, 3 years ago i had replaced apps wit Timbo apps, so i email him and he sent me a new one and it solved the problem for 20 miles. then back to interment dead pedal. I have had one drive home where everything ran great and had not one problem (check eng…

So from my research I've done so far, the 1693 code is just a code thrown, letting you know that there is a code present on one of the other computers right? The 0500 code is a speed sensor and ABS issue, short version, the pcm(?) can't tell why or thinks that front and rear wheels are spinning at different speeds. The CEL only shows up when my key is turned on and the WTS light is on. Once the engine is running, the CEL is not back lit and the truck seems to run fine. Occasionally, I'll have first gear run a little longer then it seems it should, and I have a weird lock up thing happen in between 3rd lock up and 4th. I can expand on those if need be. Other poss…

Howdy all, looks like a great place. Just got a 2001.5 2500 6 speed from my sister who had it since new, and my first Dodge diesel. 240,000 on the clock and seems all stock. So go figure drove it once to show a friend, parked it to put in fuel pressure, pyro and boost. Started it up to move it out of the shop - ran 10 ft and died. So the research is how I found this place. Had to join just to see how the rest of you are doing the deed and figure this thing out.

Ive been having this problem for months now with my '99 Dodge . It comes and goes, but what happens is all my gauges quit working, "Nobus" shows in the odometer, the truck quits charging, it shifts funny. Me and my buddy have been all thru this truck, all the grounds are good, I checked the plug in the fuse box thats under the hood, and I checked the ignition switch. The code I get from the OBD is P1698 and if I do the Actuator test for the insturment cluster I get codes 920 and 921. (when this truck was at another garage they had the pcm off and opend the back of it) Anyway im positive its the pcm thats bad, and im going to order a new one monday unless someone here thin…

Installed pump on frame rail July 2. Noted that a very small turn (!/8) of the adjusting nut would increase pressure by 15 lbs. Today, I looked at my guage and it was at 10 lb idleing. Jumped under the truck to adjust relief spring and turned it 1/2 turn to get pressure back to 20 psi at idle, 23 with engine off. Now if I floor it in drive press drops to 7 psi. Drops to 15 at 5lb boost. New stock filter 2 weeks ago. Stock 3/4 ton empty. Stock draw stray and fuel lines to the raptor. Stock line to filter bypassing original pump. Oil filled mechanical guage tapped at the Vp44 inlet banjo. Worked great up to now pulling 12,000lb load. Time for warranty???
