I know that sounds like a weird question, but a few years ago my truck developed this weird noise from 40 mph and up. It sounds like its coming from the drivers side wheel. The only way I can describe it is a high pitched flute sound. For a long time I thought it was a wheel bearing but I would bet that if a wheel bearing was that dry it would have destroyed itself after all these years. I am now leaning toward a U-Joint, either in the short shaft or in one of the hubs. Any thoughts from all you Dodge experts? By the way with the super quiet tires installed yesterday I can hear the noise a lot better now. Deric

Hello everyone, I'm trying to to figure out what gear ratio would be best in my truck. It's a 2000 , 2500 ,automatic. Stock gears in it are 3:54 and I put 37 inch military tires on it.. I am planning on gearing it but I need advice and opinions on what ratio to have installed.... 4:10 ? Or 4:56? , if I do 4:10 I can use stock carriers, if I go 4:56 I have to buy new carriers. what is the best for towing or all around.

ARE there anything i can do to adjust or re-calibrate it.. rburks

Lady's and Gentlemen, I have 2002 Cummins, 108,000 K miles, Superchips programmer, 4" Banks exhaust with the power elbow, Airdog fuel pump and a cold air system. I just installed a Wicked wheel. Purchased a boost elbow. Now for the question.......I have a boost gauge, it hits about 19 at max. Do not want to damage my engine but you know how we are.....I would like to squeeze a little extra out of her. What is a safe boost level? Thank you in advance!

What is the cooling unit on the left side front of radiator? I don't have air conditioning. Bumper pushed into it and dented it slightly. 15 mpg and totaled the 99 Acura. Me, I need a new bumper, grill and 2 headlights. Meeting the adjustor on Monday and will be compensated for the accident and will fix myself. I already have a CCP bumper kit to weld up. Probably should pressure test the intercool too. No fluid leaking.

Cracked 47re case, internals are good. Will a 47rh case work if we modify the plug to accept the new plug instead of the old 3 prong?

I put a mystery switch in the shifter, thank you me78569. The momentary switch is used to trip a 'switching' relay that turns on a light at the A-post next to the trans temp gauge and all so closes a 'grounding' relay that grounds the torque converter lockup solenoid. Terminal 85 of the switching relay is grounded through terminal 1 of the brake light switch which is also a ground for the ABS controller. When I engage the lock up everything is ok , then manually lock out over drive to down shift to 3ed. The check engine light comes on. There is no up shift to over drive until the lockup solenoid is ungrounded. The code that is set is p0122 throttle position sensor/swi…

Today I went up to the mountains and noticed something.... Whenever my EGTs were below 350* and I stepped on the throttle (NOT in gear) it really struggled to rev up. It would buck and pop and blow white smoke, then when it got to around 2,000 rpm it would smooth out and rev up higher just fine. I tried it multiple times because there were no cars around, and had the same result every time. Now why would it do this?? Could altitude be a factor? Could outside ambient temps cause it? Could high timing at low rpms cause it? I've heard of pre-ignition on diesels with high timing but I'm not sure if that's what it was. I will say the smarty was on #1 which is supposed to…

I have a 2001 Ram 2500, 4WD, 6 speed. The cruise control indicator is always displayed on the dash, even before the truck is started. None of the cruise control buttons do anything. So, the cruise isn't working. I took the truck to auto zone and they reported that the truck wasn't throwing any codes. I attempted to contact dripley because he seemed to have this same problem, but his account no longer accepts messages. My best guess is the clock spring. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

  15. Just got home from my 250 mile round trip out into the hill country of Ne, and brought home some cows. Believe me, This has been bugging the hell out of me. First of all, I decided to call on the big gun. My Dad was an mechanical engineer, and I had quite an upbringing as a kid. a lot of principles were hammered home.. Almost Nazi style. Now, 45 years later, some of these principles are a little hard to bring out of the archives! My career path took me out of the loop for studying and practicing the sciences. Dad passed about 10 years ago, I sure miss being able to call him up and quiz him about how to build this, or what materials to use here.. So, I did the ne…

  16. Hello, I am new to this forum. I spoke to Mopar1973Man on the telephone, Thanks to him for sharing his wealth of knowledge. Here is the info I provided to the service facility: "Vehicle information: 2002 Dodge Ram 2500, 5.9 Cummins HO, 6 speed manual, 4x4. Modifications: Injectors-Formula 1 Mach 2 105hp, Smarty S-03 programmer, FASS. Symptoms: For the past 2 months, truck has had issues starting ranging from a hard start to stalling nearly a minute after being started. This all seems to take place when the temperature is below the operating temperature of 190. If I make several stops before the truck is at running temp, it usually has trou…

Alright guys I am experiencing a miss at all RPMs. It is pretty noticeable near the engine with a knock, but is extremely noticeable at the exhaust. It is easy to feel that the exhaust is "puffing" per say. Now I just replaced the injectors with a new set of 125hp sacs, but the miss was prevalent before the injector swap. The swap did not make a difference. Everything sounds the exact same as before the swap. I have fuel squirting out of each connection at the cross over tubes while running. MoparMan and I spoke on the phone earlier and have decided to take a systematic approach to resolving this issue. Ruled out: 1. Injection pump: Always supplied good pressure, less t…

Well, looks like my Amsoil can't hack it! I'm pretty dissapointed with this as I'd only read and heard good things about this filter before installing it, with the only failures or negative comments coming from a guy who was running twins. Either way, my truck has no tuning and exhaust only so it's hard to think that a truck in pretty much stock form could do this to a 'premium' air filter! Anyone know a place I can pick up a BHAF on the cheap?!
