Sceems as if it does it louder when its cold.. Anyways whenever I push the clutch in makes a rattle noise. Asked around and someone told me my throw out bearing could be bad.. Thought Id ask on here see what you all thing... Next is 3rd gear is a pain in the ___ to get into using the clutch.. I can go thro all gears with out the clutch no problem but using the clutch seems as if it hesitates to get in there.. I got the south bend dual disk clutch so i thought maby that could cause it to be harder. Any thought would be appreciated

  2. Anyone have any input on the exhaust manifold I should get? I'm undecided between the BD and ATS. While the BD has two ports driled and tapped and the ATS has one. The ATS also comes with a high temp black coating and won't look like crap after a few seasons. As far as quality between the two I have no idea. Currently the best price I have found shipped to my door is $425.00 total.

  3. Ok first of let me vent here a second... (You've been warned!) I got a phone call from a gent this evening upset at his truck because of hard starting and P1689 error code randomily coming. He admits he's got a Raptor fuel pump, Edge Juice and 100 HP injectors. That fine... But the admits he's selling it because he's tired of all the VP44 failures and problem. WHOA! Stop the train... This is where I'm getting really tired of people giving the VP44 a bad name now pay attention. Now I asked him of his source of fuel. His response is he's running red dye fuel from a farm tank because its free. Then ask him of the the fuel filter he's running. His respons…

Hey guys, just have a question regarding engine idleing and warm up. So I know according to the owners manuel your not supposed to idle your engine for a long period, and of course it doesn't specify what a long period of time is but aren't you supposed to warm it up in the winter? If this is the case iv'e noticed since owning this diesel that takes quite a while so wouldn't this hurt the engine since your not supposed to leave them idle for long periods of time? confussed. just another newbie question

When you fellows replace u-joints, do you have a preferred brand and series? And most importantly, on the front axles do you use greasable joints? I believe the Spicer SPL55-4X has the zerk, but how hard would access be? For my rear driveshaft am leaning toward Spicer 5-1410-1X, the greasable model. Do you all change the center bearing at the same time? Mine seems to be in good shape. All [good] advice would be appreciated!

So this morning was a bit chilly for us around these parts (weather read 27* fells like 19*) so I go out to get the truck started and let the 3cyl do its job for a bit. I turn the high idle switch to off since I hadn't left it plugged in, WTS goes out and I give it a crank. She starts a bit rough, but only stumbles for a second maybe and fires up. Thinking nothing more, I turn the switch to 3cyl and head back inside. I come back out and notice a CEL on. Truck still is driving fine, although it seems like the truck might have a little less power, but not sure if it was just a combo of the CEL light being on and it being a little icy or what but just a feeling. Anyways…

So this has been an on going issue for quite some time and have hit a road block, under heavy engine load ONLY with tuner turned up it will spit/sputter best way I can explain it is it sounds like I'm bouncing rev limiter, within the last 8k miles I put on a fass pump new vp44 and a revmax trans ( trans was slipping and thought that was the problem spitting and sputtering at 2700 rpms) now she spits and sputters at all different times based on current speed engine load tps and level of tune. I've checked fuel pressure 17 at idle /14 at WOT /, less than .075v of ac noise in alt. Have a p1693 in the pcm that stays after cleared and p1475 witch has not come back yet. tps se…

Well I am soon to be rebuilding the trans in my truck. I have rebuilt a couple of NV4500s and a few other manuals but never a NV5600. I keep hearing how the 5600s are hard to rebuild but I don't quite understand why. Anyone want to clue me into why they are so hard to rebuild? And please don't try to tell me I need 100T press to press the gears off. That has got to be the biggest load of crap I have heard about these transmissions. You may have the occasional trans that needs a little extra help but otherwise a 25T should have no trouble getting the job done.

New to this forum and need some assistance. Recently purchased 02 3500 truck with 188k miles on it. My understanding is the fuel pump should be changed out and relocated due to the heat from the engine. The truck runs fine, but don't won't to screw up the injector pump. What pumps are recommended for this fix and where do you get the best bang for the buck? What are the pros and cons of the kit from Dodge, other than it is too damn expensive? Has anyone had any luck at repairing the rear plastic fender wells with the types of epoxies on the market? Duramix? Automix? What about adding a fuel pressure gauge and where should it located? Thanks from Texas.

  13. So I just had a Southbend Dual Disc Clutch installed in my NV5600 truck and the whole truck shakes. If you press the clutch pedal in the shaking stops. Once the truck warms up it shakes less. It feels like the truck is running on 5 cyl. What is going on? Did the shop install the clutch wrong? Is this normal?

  14. Afternoon guys. As some may know I’ve had some issues with how well my truck has been running lately. It has been idling a bit choppy and an occasional miss nothing crazy but noticeable. we work on a few 24 valves at work and if never figured out why they run better than my truck does. I have been blaming it on low pop pressures with my fairly new DAP 75hp injectors but I’m thinking otherwise since a discussion with felllow employees at the shop. They mentioned that 8 out of 10 Fass fuel systems they have seen are actually making more air in the fuel system than they are separating. They are pumping far more fuel than the truck ever uses and returning it to the tank at a …

Alright guys how many of you know how to float your gears in your 5 or 6 speed cummins? Recently I tried it for the first time and it’s surprisingly easy to do no grinding and no resistance when shifting. I also tried it in my Jeep Wrangler with lil trouble. I’ve found quite a few older posts regarding the syncros suffering from floating gears but is that only because people aren’t doing it right? The reason being is that my stock clutch is slipping. And I’m trying to buy as much time as possible. Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated!!!

I have a 2001 4x4 with a six speed transmission and 200000 miles. The truck is a one owner, I bought it from my Father in law and is completely stock. I have been around the truck since it was bought new. The truck was really strong until around 190000 miles when the VP44 went out. The pump has been replaced with a unit from a local re builder in Memphis TN. Since the VP44 replacement the truck has not been the same. I drove it around 200 miles yesterday and it averaged 11MPG. I have owned 24 valve Dodge trucks in the past and have always gotten high teens on fuel mileage and had much more power. When I am accelerating thru the gears I cant …
