Took my truck for it's yearly MOT check today failed on drivers side upper and lower ball joint.... no problem got those drivers side wheel bearing ..... haven't got one, have a 2006 to 2008 but my guess is it will be different ?? Here in the UK a lot of replacement wheel bearings are just that... just the bearing and not the whole thing, we just press the 2 peices apart, remove the bearing and repress back together, is this possible on a 98 4wd with no front ABS, I have a good bearing company not to far from me so if it pressed apart and there's a number on the actual bearing it may be a go ?? Changing the bearing would be quicker than ordering the w…

  4. At 5:30ish this morning some creep stole my Dodge. They hit the ditch up the road from my house in another stolen car and walked here and took my truck. I even had it plugged in for them. I missed them by just a few minutes. Went looking but no luck.....I don't know what to do.....Cops are looking, but I know how these situations turn out.

Just about to do the fuel transfer pump relay mod and also relocate to closer to the tank and 1/2" lines and straw, question is PO fitted this Fass pump https://www.dieselautopower.com/fass-direct-replacement-fuel-pump-drp02 is this good enough ? truck is 98.5 24v auto, trans is stock as far as I know, it has been rebuilt by PO late 2017 although looking at the rest of this guys work that may not mean much. Hi, Currently I'm dealing with a misfire when hot. Mostly noticeable at idle, lower rpm and slower speeds. It will also make a crackling sound when driving at low rpm. It often hunts for the right idle rpm if I let off the throttle. If I snap the throttle, there's a delay of like 1 second and then it will blow some white smoke like the timing is off. When I go to take off, if I push the throttle too fast at low rpm, there's like a short flat spot in the apps where the truck runs weird and crackles almost like it's choking out. I have tested and replaced almost all of the fuel related components including injectors 4 times, the pump, and all the sensors …

  7. My 98.5 cummins has been in the shop for 8 days now and each day reveals a new problem. Took her in after a few hard starts where there seemed to be a loss of prime. The day before the shop appointment the oil pressure gauge suddenly dropped, then went immediately back to normal. I was a mile from home so I decided to limp her home, the oil pressure dropped to zero and then jumped back to normal as I pulled away from the intersection stop. Acceleration seemed to keep the oil pressure in the normal range. Anyway, I ger her to the shop who seems to start throwing parts at the problems. They replaced the oil pressure sensor and said the injector connector pencil o-ring…

  8. Sunday morning the ole girl was deader than a door nail. No juice. :think:Had to go to my fiance and my wedding shower so I couldn't work on er till about 1800 last night. I threw a charger on it, not even 30 seconds later she fired up and ran like a champ. I took er up the street to make sure everything worked out all right, no issues. Went out this morning dead again. :doh:SO I threw the charger on it and it started with no issue in less than 30 seconds. Got er to work, Dead by Lunch. :banghead: SO now I'm thinking bad battery(ies), I load test them, both are weak but not BAD yet. SO I start looking, I find the wires going to the Grid Heater relay corroded to high heave…

  10. So I thought I'd repost this here. Yesterday I was driving down the road and the truck just died. It threw a p1693 and then a p0122 and p0237. Battery voltage was showing 15.1 and the IAT was showing 2.70v and the engine temp was 2.79v. The scanner was showing no data from oil pressure sensor. The Map and IAT and apps are all brand new. I unplugged the quadzilla and it made no difference. I'm thinking Ecm??? Wiring? This picture is what the scanner was reading when the truck died. The truck would run for a few mins and then die, but now it will only run for about 5 secs.

Had a catastrophic failure today and had to get the truck towed home. I thought it was a simple serp belt failure. But after tensioning the new belt the alternator was cock eyed. Upon further inspection the lower alternator bolt sheared off clean at the mount. Which is also the lower cooling adapter for the lower hose and bypass. It's a $275 part. So I plan to remove it and work to get the bolt out. Are there any words of wisdom in taking this project on? I know I'm going to loose all the coolant. Weird problem. Bolt is broken off flush with the mount. looks like it takes an O ring to seal around the lower hose inlet part of the assembly. Is the…

I had the flatbed hitched up to go get some scrap from a friends house, made it 3/4 around my block and got a dead pedal. I was able to coast back into my parking spot which was nice. I checked codes on the Edge, got a P0121 and a few others I see on occasion. The pedal came back after a minute of sitting but now I'm too spooked to drive it anywhere. I got the explanation of the code from the articles section and will be going through the test steps. I wouldn't be too upset if it were time to step up to a timbos apps. I was able to do my scrap run, buddy still had his work truck, 2016 GMC 2500 so we hooked up my trailer and got it done. I want air conditioned seat…

I'm new to the site and new to the Dodge Cummins. I have a 2002 with 90,000 on it, stock as far as I know, had it about 2 years with no problems. Recently I would be driving along and suddenly lost power, the throtle goes to the floor with no response untill it downshifted and then it seemed to have full power again. I have been reading your forum and see it could be different things that can cause this. Here is what I know, There has not been a trouble code, or the check engine light has not came on. Fuel filter was replaced about three months ago, maybe 2,000, I can hear the pump come on when I turn the ignition switch on, the truck starts right up. Can someone give me …

  15. We recently purchased a 98.5 laramie slt, and we have fixed the boost sensor the tps and replaced the filter, we are now looking to replace the lift pump. We rented a fuel pressure gauge and hooked it up and we got idle pressure of 19 to 20 and reed pressure of 10 to 11, we have been told that it should run a constant pressure of at least 14 to 16. When we removed it we noticed some wires were cut, yellow with a white tracer going into the ecm and it is both wires. We have done a lot to this truck and we are at a loss, when we rev it up the pressure drops and the engine starts to run flat has no power. Please help us.

Going to do brakes and power steering fluid... Haven't done before, couple questions:1) what size tubing for caliper coupling?2) when doing rear passenger wheel, just keep pumping until it turns clear then move to next wheel...?3) what happens if air gets in line - how will you know? Will brakes get spongy and I'll have to rebleed... One wheel or all wheels? 4) power steering - just use a turkey baster? Thanks!

Truck has 15 lb of FP at WOT, there are no codes, My mods I have a vanaken module, boast fooler, boast elbow and a exhaust brake, could this be a bad injector or is the IP going again?

So as long as I remember my truck has always done this, but I noticed this week when it starts to do it. And I'm curious if this is normal for everyone else. Start my truck in the morning and I jump on the freeway. The truck is still pretty cold, so I take it easy getting up to speed. As we all know, these truck rattle like crazy, but everyday, i hit a certain point driving into town where my trucks normal sound get quiet. It sounds smooth as can be all for about10 to 15 seconds, then immediately becomes rattling again.( those few seconds makes the truck sound amazingly smooth) So as I am headed to spokane, it does this normal noise reduction again, and i just l…

Truck: 1999 2500 Quadcab NV 4500 300,000 miles. What happened: I was driving to work and everything was fine until I pulled up to a red light then my truck could barely hold a very unsteady idle. CEL came on. Pulled off road and had it towed to my work. Pulled following codes: P0251 Injection pump fuel valve feedback P0252 Injection pump fuel valve stuck P1688 VP44 Fuel Injection Pump Module Internmal membory or A/D error P1693 Fault in companion module P0122 TPS sensor 1 circuit low P1682 charge system output low Some of these were probably very old, I can't remember the last time I did a scan. I should …
