Well I'm getting tired of my fuel gauge reading 3/4 tank with 300 miles on the clock... Its been acting up for some time but getting worse as half tank is about as far as it will ever get to. If this was a true representation of some amazing fuel mileage then I'd feel a bit different.....but sadly its not. So I guess I'll drop the tank, or lift the bed, and see whats up... I'm thinking the fuel sending unit on the module is toast. I see Geno's sells them but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on who else does? Just for reference, the module is stock because I've never needed to modify the fuel module system. Most video's and informa…

I have a 1999 dodge ram 2500 5 sp manual. We have a perplexing problem. I`ve had over the last year a code of 1698 and Crank position sensor code PO336 thrown. The truck started having a hiccup when idling and the tach would drop off and come back and check engine light coming on. Eventually the truck wouldn`t start at all. My electrical mechanic replaced several relevant pins on the plug to the ECM then replaced the connector on the VP44. Previous to that we put a rebuilt ECM on. What he thinks is there`s a timing issue with the crank position sensor and the VP44. The truck starts and runs but is throwing these codes most of the time now. I`ve heard tone ring?, Key on t…

I'm kinda ignorant about programmers/chips. I am not a big fan of HP mods, but definately fuel economy and I want to do the 3 cylinder warm up. I would appreciate more torque while towing up a grade and avoid shifting down into a lower gear. Can we discuss the pro's and con's of various options? Smarty, Edge, etc.. I prefer simple as well. Are there literally chips to install, or is that just a term for reprogramming?

  4. I’ve been trying to figure this out for a couple days now. I’m having troubles with truck running when pcm is plugged in. If I unplug C1 It will start. If I unplug C3 it will start but say I have C1 plugged in and plug C3 in kills it immediately. Same if it’s other way around. Could this be due to security? Please help

"Anybody had any trouble with their OD button on the gear shift working intermittently? The problem seems to be a possible dirty switch but I don't want to guess. Ideas? Works both ways, shifting into OD off or on, can't get the thing to go even after several attempts.

I said i'd have some questions about my dads truck so here goes... 2001 Ram 2500 24 valve, 47RE automatic. Transmission was rebuilt years ago before he had the truck. not sure what all was done to it specifically. It will randomly kick out of Overdrive sometimes cruising around 55mph, sometimes cruising at 60/65mph. It will kick in and out of overdrive 2 or 3 times in a row and then go back in and hold. When he first described the problem to me i wasn't sure if it was O/D or Lock up giving an issue.. So i did the first test in the Alternator noise thread about isolating the alternator by removing the field wires and removing the 140 amp fuse in the box, wen…

In the middle of installing new injecotors currently. I'm curious what this buildup is on my connector tubes? How do you get it off?

Hello I have a 47re trans question. Would like to hear from people that have automatics. Trans not down shifting when slowing down to 6 to 10 mph and then going from that speed. Trans will not be in second gear pcm shows its in second but its in third gear. if I push the gas pedal down so that the apps reads 34% it goes in to second. is this how it's suppose to work? __________________

Hey guys! I have been lurking for a while and figured I would join up to see if you had any insight to a problem I am having. I have a 2001 2500 ram with a Cummins and a 47re, it has an S&B intake, a 4" mbrp exhaust and a fass 100 lp. Other then these things the truck is completely stock with 230,000kms (143,000 miles) never been tuned. I do not have gauges yet and I know that fuel pressure is the first thing you`re going to tell me to check, gauges are on the way hopefully be here in the next week or two (thanks covid). The issues I am having are low power while climbing hills on the highway (unloaded I do not pull anything with the truck), here in eastern Canada we …

Hello I have a 2001 that is cutting power at random. When it looses power it is off and on real quick. The rpms tps and speed stay constant. The only way I’ve got it to stop is to unplug the speed sensor on the rear end and since I’ve done that hasn’t happened since. I replaced that sensor. When it’s plugged in the problem comes back. I have a IQuad V2. On the I quad the speed is all over the place the factory speed seems to read correctly. When the truck cuts out the IQuad speed reads 140+ when in reality I’m going 30 mph according to the dash. I’ve seen it jump up to over 70 when the truck is idling in 1st gear. I’ve also completely disconnected the IQuad and the truck …

I can't find my earlier posts on this... Every once in a while, the truck would not more than grunt. I'm only using it intermittently every couple of weeks. I have a 1.8A solar trickler on the dash into the always on lighter plug. The thing is, a hour on charge or a jump will fire it right up. The batteries don't seem to take much charging to spin it over. My first thought is dirty connections. We caught a nice warm day yesterday & I cleaned all the battery terminals with wire brushes. They weren't really bad as I have the treated felt washers under them all. I did see a spot on one that just looked a bit oxidized. I found one terminal (Pos on Driver's…

Hi all, I have a pakbrake on my 99 with the auto. i know it works and i have used it to ad in warm up on very cold mornings. but i can not seem to get it close while under motion. I am not sure if this is because the lockup is not engaged or is there something else that is keeping the vacuum solenoid from activating. from what i read, its controlled from the circuit that is turned on only when the throttle is at 0. since it will activate while in park at an idle and deactivate when i touch the throttle. I know that part is working, so i am wondering if there is a controller that was connected to the Power train controller that was removed by the PO. (which mak…

  16. I'm working on the truck in my sig. After installing all my upgrades last fall (pac brake, hx 35/40, 100 hp injectors, quad unit), I haven't been able to get over about 25lbs of boost even with the set screw in the boost elbow turned all the way in. Today I put a vice grip on the hose and saw a bit over 30ps of boost on a full throttle acceleration. Where in the adj process do I check the actual wastegate actuator setting/position? Its possible correct, to maybe need to adjust the length of the actuator rod? Also, I bought the manual boost controller shown by Mike in another post and have yet to install it. Mike, the red end goes towards the elbow correct?

My truck has had a oil leak for a while but in the last two weeks its now a problem. Any tips or advice on making this job any easier?

  18. Started by Jacobbish,

I have narrowed down my power issue to I hope what is the ECM. I get a lack of power at consistently 35 mph+. The guy who did this swap used the ECM from the manual 2001 and it had some sort of tune on it that no one seems to know. Just trying to find someone to flash it back to stock and start my troubleshooting from there. My local dealer said they do not do any electronics like that for my year of vehicle.

The issue I'm having has been going on for about 2 months now. Started out as a bad valve body. Pull the truck down in gear it would **** off I replaced the VB with a revmax HD and a triple disc converter with a low stall. Fixed that issue. But then about a week after while cleaning and prepping for paint I lost all power with symptoms of limp mode. Did some looking and codes led to low 5 v supply. Probes the wire and walls no 5v reference from the ecm. My question is is there anywhere else on the harness I can get a 5 volt feed to run to the map and iat to see if it fixed the problem before dropping the money on a new ecm. The truck spins over more now then it used…

After 3 long weeks it looks like my replacement exhaust manifold has finally landed. I found this but just wanted to be sure this is correct for installation torque and bolting sequence.
