OK, I have had about enough of this air dog system. I just went to leave work and found that the in line fuse pretty much melted together. I'm thinking a short but the system itself doesn't sound right even when it's running. I replaced a fuse already only to have it finally melt down on me.:banghead: I'm open to suggestions. How is the manufactuer at replacing the unit if it's defective? Has anyone else had any similar problems? Lucky

  2. Hi Guys,Thinking of purchasing one of these. I like the adjustability of it & the fact that I'm using bioblends or adding filtered WVO in warm weather only. Above 10% my low pressure light comes on till I add more diesel to thin it out! Been seeing it around for about $365. And since Michael thinks the Fass Dodge Direct Replacement is junk.Any thoughts? Thanks,Dave

Last month set pressure went from 19psi to 16psi. I tweaked the adjust screw back to 19psi. Today it is at 22psi idle. 19psi no load. Been readjusting for the last year. up down, up down. Is this normal? Thinking I will just watch it for a while.

Installed pump on frame rail July 2. Noted that a very small turn (!/8) of the adjusting nut would increase pressure by 15 lbs. Today, I looked at my guage and it was at 10 lb idleing. Jumped under the truck to adjust relief spring and turned it 1/2 turn to get pressure back to 20 psi at idle, 23 with engine off. Now if I floor it in drive press drops to 7 psi. Drops to 15 at 5lb boost. New stock filter 2 weeks ago. Stock 3/4 ton empty. Stock draw stray and fuel lines to the raptor. Stock line to filter bypassing original pump. Oil filled mechanical guage tapped at the Vp44 inlet banjo. Worked great up to now pulling 12,000lb load. Time for warranty???

  5. I got the quick connect w/ the big line kit. But it only goes to the filter. So from the filter to the VP44 is the stck line. Does anyone make a big line kit that goes the rest of the way. it doesn't have to be a quick connect. I have a standard cab & the connections were a pain in the neck to find a place to make work. Sort of looks rigged the way I have it. I'll see if I can post some pix!Thnx, Dave

  6. My Airdog 150 quit working yesterday. After checking it out I found that the pump is working fine if I jump 12 volts straight to it, which leaves me at a relay or wiring problem. Does anyone know the part number of the relay I need? Any other suggestions would also be welcomed. I really hate wiring problems!:banghead:

Hello all, I'm new to this forum and have already found a wealth of information. I have an Air Dog FP-100 on my '01 Dodge Ram 2500 QC with the standard power Cummins. It has just failed the Air Dog pump for the 3rd time, this time costing me a new fuel injection pump. The gearotor/motor assembly was just installed in Sept. I put in the new fuel injection pump and everything tested fine. I knew the Air Dog was not putting out as much pressure as I would like, so before I ran the truck further than a couple miles, I installed a 1/4" washer that I drilled out to 3/8" ID and then shaved the OD to fit under the return to tank fitting in the Air Dog base. I drove the tru…

my air dog and it will hold pressure but when on the throttle hard it losses a lot of psi and goes below 5 and sometimes 0. But when at 75mph it sits at 10 psi but hit the throttle it goes down. Could it be the ball and spring stuck slightly? Thinking it is taking a crap on me and was wondering what to buy next another air dog or go with fass or a mechanical pump? Money is not to tight right now but with it being my DD I don't want to be down this winter sitting on the side of the road when it goes out. If mechanical pump would I be able to use the air dog filters down on the frame still?

I am about to have the Airdog 100 installed and have a quick and easy questions. Someone said to put the bigger spring in for 17psi versus the regular 15psi and i twas included in his parts for the AD. There is one spring in the bag with hardware, is the 15psi spring in already and you have to change it with this one or it's an extra and I need to get it here before I do the AD install? Just curious, wasn't positive. Thanks!

Couple days ago i removed the "air inlet tube", the big hose from air filter box to the turbo. The hose has particles I've never seen before. Wix filter only has about 2800 miles on it. Many miles from the maintenance schedule "light duty "B" of "inspect/replace every 15,000 miles". Folding air filter in half, I can see semi loose strands bewteen the pleats waiting to be sucked in. About same size of 3 days of no shaving. Never noticed it before... Is this normal?

Hate to bug you guys with 101 questions.......I've been using Wix airfilters for years. Last one I bought (late last year) didn't have the foam material on the back. I thought someone forgot to put it on. Today shopped for a new one at Auto zone. Again no foam backing that Wix has put on for years. Looked on Amazon and the pic has foam backing but in comments others have noticed no foam backing of what is actually shipped. https://www.amazon.com/WIX-Filters-46272-Heavy-Filter/dp/B000C9UKTU Called Wix and their FAQ people said they are no longer using the foam backing and "but what is sold today meets or exceeds OEM". I'm pretty well stock, but I do p…

  14. 02 3500 2wd 6speed quad cab. 225k, Recently noticed noticed the vacuum sensor on the airbox tripped. Upon inspection found that the air filter was full of rodent nest and the filter was partially sucked into the intake tube. Good bet some debris got sucked into my turbo and the turbo intake housing is dirty/grimy. Lucky I don't see any damage on the compressor blades and it spins freely thankfully. So ripped out the factory airbox and put in a RBHAF. Went with the baldwin 2820 since it seems a bit better constructed with an internal wire cage. Loving the sound. I can clearly hear the turbo spool up now. Wondering if this will improve my fuel mil…

Hey guys, new here. This subject is what has got me registered here and staying here now. I looked on moparmans tech articles and saw the one about the BHAF.So I got under the hood and out of curiosity, I gave it all a looky-loo. What I found next was un-nerving. The tube to the turbo inlet was taken off and the inlet to the turbo looked exactly like the picture of the one in his article. Upon further reading, it turns out that it is because of those good ol' k&n filters. Well, it turns out I have one too!The thing is, I'm nervous about what damage it may have caused. Any debris like that is NOT good! My truck seems to run and perform just fine, but I can also be on b…

Well here we go. I have a AFE intake filter stage 1, a friends idea is the stock filter is better then the AFE, in that it is not sealed good enough to keep the hot air from the engine from being sucked in,and that these type of filters itself will get pin holes and allow dirt in, thus losing horse power, were as the stock air filter draws from the cooler air in the fender and do not get the pin holes, any thoughts.............thanks

  17. Started by LorenS,

I have read the Caterpillar, University of (Indiana?) and Air Dog, etc. documents about entrained air in diesel fuel affecting power and retarding injection events. Does anyone know if that significantly affects MPG and EGT in our trucks, specifically? It sure seems like my EGT is higher than most (700-800F), my MPG is around 17.5-18 (hand calc) even at 65 MPH in average weather/wind conditions running empty. When I give the fuel a super dose of PDS gray stuff to increase cetane in an effort to advance the ignition, everything improves - but PDS gray isn't free, even if it isn't expensive. I ran Rotella T6 almost 10k miles and had an oil analysis done to check for fu…

My 2000 Dodge 24v (with 540k mi) started to run rough then stopped. Thought it was the VP44. Installed clear tubing between fuel filter canister and VP44, purged air and got running. Like someone flipped a switch, LOTS of air showed up in clear tubing, engine faltered and I shut it down. Put clear line between Raptor RP-100 and tank: purged air, got running, no air, then engine shut down on its own. Put clear tubing on pressure side of RP-100 with additional clear tubing back between filter canister and VP44: tiny, tiny bubbles by RP-100 and then, like someone flipped a switch, aquarium aerator bubbles after fuel filter canister. Replaced canister top, put new "O" r…

First off I hope everyone had a merry Christmas! Mine was eventful blowing the head gasket on the truck, and then finding out the head had cracks in 5 of the 6 cyls of the head. Replaced head and now it runs great. No external leaks but it sucks air and looses prime within a few hours. being this weekend was Christmas/eve I couldn’t get injector orings or connector tube orings. Could these be a source of the air leak? I changed the banjo washers on the back of the head with no results.

  20. Started by Fishcarver,

New to the forum, been lurking awhile, however, I just took a trip to S. Cal and my truck acts like it is losing its prime. Checked for any visible fuel leaks, found none. Truck usually cranks a couple of times and fires right up but now if it sits very long, it turns over but won't start right away. I have noted more black smoke than usual in the past few days and a little loss of power at times. I have about 100K on rebuilt VP, no codes and about the same on injectors. Could this indicate an injector problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Love this forum, very informative. Thanks.
