On my last recent outing With the 5ver hooked up, and pulling some of Colorado’s steeper grades like wolf creek pass that’s 9 miles and 7-9% grade with a couple hairpin switchbacks and no breaks climbing the grade to help with cooling, my trans was creeping up to 250’ before I reached the top, ( the trans temp probe is on the output line side so I am reading the hottest temp possible as it’s just leaving the torque converter) as I was nearly to the top I just kept going and let it cool at the summit, grossing around 19k, everything else was holding its own, but the transmission temps, and having a fresh tranny rebuild I need to try prolong the trans. life the best I can…

Since I'm down here in Mojave Valley AZ the daytime temps are 112 to 116°F out it been getting easy for the teansmission to reach 170 to 180F without a trailer. Now with my homebrew heat shield is take much longer to get temp and is roughly 20 to 40°F cooler now floating around 140°F after going to Bullhead City AZ and back to Needles CA and home again just at 145°F compared to yesterday at 180°F. The test run was 50 miles in today's heat and traffic.

My truck slowly started having converter lock/unlock issues after 2.5 years of no issues. I initially removed the stock alternator because it was reading .05mv A/C voltage and that solved the lockup issues I was having. In place of the stock alternator I installed a Nations 180A alternator. Now 2.5 years later my lockup issues have slowly come back and are getting bad at 45-50mph. Today I checked A/C voltage and read .045mv on the meter. I’m wondering if anybody knows the part number for the rectifier/diode bridge to replace the Nations unit?

I'm going through wiring schematics and woundering can I just make an adapter for the 01 motor to plug in to the spot the 98 did.

Ok so here it goes. Bought my first cummins back in January, 2001 24v totally stock with an edge comp box. It had a bad oil leak so i tried to wash off the crud to help locate the leak ( yeah i know bad idea ) got side tracked and didn't mess with the truck for almost a week. When i did get back to it, it was a no start so i put a code reader on it an got a laundry list of codes. Long story short i came to the conclusion that it was the ecm, so i replaced it. Installed it, truck runs but if you touch to go pedal it dies instantly. Sent it to the shop. Replacd injection pump, lift pump, cam sensor and fixed the tappet cover leak. Still same problem. Sent ecm back thinking…

I am adding the link in from CF. Nothing against CF or the guys helping there, just feel that the knowledge of Mopar Man himself and the guys here is incredible as well as the resources provided by the site here. https://www.cumminsforum.com/threads/fluctuating-idle.2528169/#post-29295619 I have 99, 5 Speed, 4WD, CCLB, Motor was rebuilt at 206k, currently at 215k, New FASS Titanium Signature 165, New RV275's, VP is a different story, will mention below. Just purchased a used ECM + PCM for my pickup. We travel a lot (including Mexico) and I want to keep a few critical spare parts on hand just in case. The donor rig was a perfect match (2002 Dodge Cummins HO six speed) for my truck and the price was right so I jumped on it. I'm assuming the ECM especially does not need to be re-flashed or anything and will be a plug and play item. Both computers are OEM off a totaled rig (121K miles....front end smashed but engine compartment looked fine). Guess I'm taking a little bit of a chance on this purchase but both computers looked great and the truck was running (obviously) at the time so they worked right up to the accident. …

Guys I’m pretty sure this topic has come up so sorry if the question is redundant. 2000 Cummins was starting fine and also idleing fine, but if I gave it and throttle the engine would shake. Tried checking the pressure on the lift pump, 0, none at all. Figured it was a bad lp so I dropped the tank and swapped it for a new one. I bumped tested the new one and nothing. Now truck will not start. Checked my relay and swapped it out with the horn relay and truck still honks. Please help!!!

Let me first start by saying this website is an incredible resource and I'm very grateful for all the great content yall provide. During the extended time at home during COVID, I did a few projects on the truck and now I'm having some issues. 1) Installed a FASS 165 with G&R sump 2) Replaced my old nasty battery cables with a set from custombatterycables.com After both the projects, I put everything back together and it starts and runs fine, but doesn't produce any boost and has a fairly sluggish response. There is a decent amount of smoke if I get much above 2000 rpms. I still have steady constant fuel pressure at around 18 psi wit…

Needed new hose for the fass due to the rubber cracking. Right now I have it plumbed into the vp without an issue. For those who’ve added the factory filter into the route, what size fittings did you need to do that, Both in and out of the filter housing. I’ll be using pushloc fittings with this also. I’d like to add it in to get the WIF light, because why not have it.

So today I had to go to my parents house to do some work for them, had the truck loaded with the tools and materials I needed, noticed that I left my keys in the ignition. No big deal, I've done it before but, this time I left the ignition on some how. Started the truck, cranked just fine and fired right up. Volt meter was down a bit, comparable to as if the grids were on ( they're unhooked at the moment). Figured the batteries would charge on my 25 minute drive. I made it 1 mile and "check gauges" lit up, voltage now at 8. Checked the 150amp breaker, it was tripped. Reset the breaker, tripped again. Went back to the house and removed said breaker for now. Running late ha…

Over the last 3 weeks, I've had an issue with my truck accelerating by it self. Not WOT like other posters experience but more like going from let's say 15% throttle position to 25%. At normal cruising speeds 35 or 60 on the free way it will happen a few times then stop. Other times I'll be going through a parking lot trying to find a spot and my truck will keep its rpms at 1500-1800 and I have to hold the breaks or shut off the truck and restart. I tried a apps reset eventhough I have timbos tps. Tried leaving the batteries disconnected for 24 hours. Tried running Lucas for injectors. Tried a known working t…

Hello from Germany.... I just installed a Valair single organic disc in my truck. The previous clutch went bad due to the input shaft seal leaking, y’all know the rest. I did replace the seal. I got the whole clutch kit from Valair, 13“ flywheel, pilot, throwout, etc. Even went the extra mile and got the ARP flywheel bolts. The trans used to rake a little on the 2-3 shift if I was beating on it. Gotta show those pesky German VW drivers what the ‘ole dually can do from time to time. After the clutch install, I can’t do a 4-3 downshift, at least like I used to. If I slow down to where I normally would shift to second, it will go into third. I never had any do…

(i would also appreciate that everyone doesn't scold me for buying it as i have already installed it and i need to make some money with this truck before i will shell out the cash to go a better route)

Hello new to this group, I’m having issues with a smarty touch I just purchased for my 99 24valve. Install went easy but when trying to tune my truck and error appears unknown software ECM. So I’ve looked into this and contacted smarty support, they stated since I have a Mopar performance ECM that was the cause and are willing to email me a REVO file to download and “should” fix my issue. Has anyone else ran into this problem ? And I’m having a hard time paying for this file when I just spent a grand on something that has done me no good thus far but I do understand the situation.... thank you

I know this has been discussed a billion times but i am unable to find the answers I'm searching for. My question is will a 2001 diesel manual ECM work on a 2001 diesel auto engine wiring harness? My tuck is a 2001 automatic 4x4 Cummins. The doner truck I'm using for parts is a 2001 manual (5 speed) 2wd. I have removed the PCM and its harness from the doner and I'm planning on swapping that in to my truck. I have been trying to get a hold of Smarty so they can hopefully change the VIN # as well as the mileage of the doner ECM & PCM to match my truck.
